    So Coffee?

Here is the cold brew system that I bought and have given as gifts: http://www.amazon.com/Toddy-T2N-Cold-Brew-System/dp/B0006H0JVW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343603157&sr=8-1&keywords=toddy+cold+new+coffee

    So Coffee?

My nutritionist told me that caffeine stimulates the appetite so she recommended that I get off all caffeine, even in tea. So I am - pre-op - adjusting to decaffeinated coffee. The cold brew method makes decaf taste great.
  3. Thanks so much for the information about Immitrex! I had not idea that it was available as an injectable. I will let my physician know.

    So Coffee?

The Toddy Cold Brew System is the one that I use - it is great - I use decaf in it. I also have GERD so the reduction in acid achieved by the Toddy Cold Brew System is helpful.

    So Coffee?

I bought a "cold brew" coffee maker that filters out acid in coffee. I use it with decaf. You put the coffee in your refrigerator and mix it with water or milk. You can hear it up or drink it as iced coffee. The decreased and helps. I am presleeve and planning to use this technique postsleeve.

    How did your surgery go?
  7. There is a patient advocate. The advocacy did not help. So that means $18,000 out of my pocket but in reality it is around $20,000 with tests. Disappointing but not surprising because instance companies do want to avoid paying.
  8. Well, the stated reason is that there are no gallbladder problems at the moment. Of course, separate gallbladder surgery does generate more income.

    Coffee!

I suggest trying cold-brewed decaf coffee.
  10. My surgeon refuses to take out gallbladder with VSG. But a friend of mine had her gallbladder removed at the same time as bypass surgery. Seems like a good idea to me.

    Over Eating

I do find that I have the "last meal" situation. I want to start the POSTOP diet PREOP and start getting into good habits. Even PREOP I am much more conscious about what and how much I eat.

To Tell Or Not To Tell....

One way to tell everyone at work is to tell the most gossipy person in the office. All offices have such persons. These people can make the announcements for you.

To Tell Or Not To Tell....

    I tell everyone.
  14. I am still PREOP but have found that turmeric supplements help reduce flatulence. I have no idea whether this will work POSTOP. But I will certainly try the supplements post surgery.

    Why Oh Why

In the US we really do not have a proper concept of a healthy body weight. When I lost weight in the past, I got comments at work such as "you have lost too much" or "you look sick". It does take time for people to adjust. I am 90 pounds overweight and know that I will face such comments. So I told the most gossipy people in the office that I am having surgery. The gossip network will be useful in managing perceptions.

    Food Addiction: Help!

I perceive that processed food is designed to be addictive. I am convinced that moving away from processed food helps.
