  1. The support of all of you is just incredible. I know I need to hear repeatedly that she needs help, I need to hear repeatedly that I am not at fault. She is a beautiful, bright, young woman with some mental health issues. I will figure out how to help her. She must be really lost and hurting. She usually calls or drops by several times a week. She has to know she isn't well. Maybe when she is calmer, she will let us help her get help. Thank you all for your support.
  2. My husband thinks she flipped out with me because I am safe. She has a stellar reputation as a nurse and is in the process of changing her job, cities, hospital and apartment, leaving her friends and family. My husband thinks all of this stress caused her to snap. I realize that being mentally unwell in Italy could be a disaster. Leaving her alone in the states doesn't sound too good either. I agree with you that there is a serious problem. I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Thank you for your words. She has been a loving daughter all of her life. I will find a way to help her.
  3. I know drugs aren't involved. I believe she's really unwell. She is usually my best bud, my shopping buddy. She is supposed to go to Italy with us in two weeks. I hope breaking my windshield helps her realize she isn't well.
  4. I know she needs help. Since I let her out of my car I probably blew it. She's a hospital RN and I know she's been working this weekend. It's just a tough, heartbreaking spot to be in.
  5. II agree with you totally. I should have taken her straight to the hospital when she was in my car. I wanted to call the police but she took my phone. Until this happened we were a normal family. Or so I thought.
  6. Thank you all for your kind and wise words, also for your prayers. She's an RN. She's intelligent. She has cut off all contact with me, but is still in touch with my husband. I feel powerless right now.
  7. My 26 year old daughter is moving out of town. I took her to look for apartments and while we were looking she had some sort of breakdown in the car. Fear, frustration? I don't know what caused it. While she was sleeping, on the way home, my GPS sent me the wrong way, adding about 30inutes to a 2.5 hour trip. She totally flipped out. She screamed, yelled, threatened to jump out of the car. At one point, while I'm driving 60 mph down some country road she opened the door and threatened to jump. I new if she got out, I'd never get her in again and this was in the middle of no where. After a mile or so she closed the door but kept screaming and began throwing things. I had a hard plastic cup in my drink holder that she threw hard enough to break my windshield. I was so scared that I tried to call my husband for help. She took my phone and each time he called she hung up. I drove with my hand on the door lock for an hour to keep her from opening the door. I finally got back home. I wanted to take her to a hospital but I knew she'd never get out of the car. She told me if I would just drop her at her apartment she wouldn't harm herself. I did. She has since sent me a text that said to never contact her again. We are supposed to leave for Europe in three weeks for a two week vacation. She is supposed to go. I am heartsick. I've never seen her like this before. I am clueless what to do.
  8. That's a major NSV. The thing is, once you know you can handle temptation, the next time will be easier. Congrats.
  9. What a difficult road you've been on. Costco has protien shakes that have 30 grams of protien per serving. They are thin and easy to swallow. I don't detect an aftertaste. Hopefully those meds start to work and you are well soon.
  10. Jessielynn. I am getting it done at Toledo Hospital, I bet I don't get it done until sometime in November. I wish it was sooner. In the mean time I am trying really hard to lose whatever I can before hand, Not easy!
  11. Jessielynn, I think easch insurance is different. I had to do 6 months of nutricional counseling. They count your first visit as one month (go figure) so it's really only 5 months. My last class is 9/17. Then they will submit it to insurance. That should take two weeks. I'm getting excited. Where are you? Where will you have your sleeve done?
  12. Stunning! What a beautiful picture. Can hardly wait for my sleeve, Thanks for sharing.
  13. That sounds unusual to me. I've had thyroid disease since I was 14. No one every used my TSH levels as a deciding factor for anything. It usually takes 4 to six weeks for a full response from your body after use change meds.
  14. I agree with 7carol13. Quit beating yourself up. We didn't get in the position to need this surgery without food issues. It is TOUGH! Nothing could be harder right now. Drink extra protien shakes, the higher in protien the better. Fill up on water. Drink lots of herbal teas, hot and cold. Just do one day or even one hour. You can do anything for an hour. Be proud of yourself when that hour is over. Next hour, new goal. You CAN do this.
  15. ZebraSprinkles, Congrats on getting your date! After I get my insurance approval, I won't get to see the surgeon for maybe a month and then the date will be about another month!!! For me it's all too slow! September 10 is just around the corner! Going to the losers bench. YAY!!
  16. Hello Chacha1959. You get to dophone consultations? I have to see a nutritionaist for 6 months! I have a few weeks left, Then it gets sent to the insurance company. I think Im looking at mid November for a surgery date. It seems so far away. October will be forever long just waiting. I went shopping with my daughter today. I think she finally might gets it. I wanted a few cute tops for our trip to Italy but they don't make much cute stuff in my size. I just want to be normal!
  17. Wow. Thanks for this topic. I will be 10 weeks post op when I travel to Viet Nam and Cambodia for two weeks. I didn't know I could pack shakes. I thought I'd be eating hard boiled eggs all through the flight.
  18. Welcome Sunnymama10. I am a newbie too. I have two beautiful duaghters, ages 26 and 28. They are not thrilled that I am doing this, but I am. I am doing it for me. I have a lot of living to do and I just can't stand thinking about doing it as a chub. I sure get the "NO MORE" thought. In the pitch dark, with my friends at our annual girls night sleep over, I don't want to be the one who goes chunky dunking while everyone else goes skinny dipping. And, someday, when I am a grandmother, I want the energy and the good health to play with those babies. Welcome to the losers bench. I am still waiting for approval. I hope you get yours soon.
  19. WOW! A group for me. If I stand really straight and stretch I am 4'11''. I am so happy to find this group. Being vertically challanged makes weight loss even harder. I'll be happy to learn from my fellow funsized sleevers and to support you as well.
  20. I am a newbie, no surgery yet. I've read your posts and it sounded like you were doing well. What happened? Maybe you are just having a bad day. From what I have read, it's common to be very emotional the first month or so. You've taken a huge step to be healthier and happier. I hope you feel better about your decision tomorrow.
  21. I'm at the other end of the state, in Toledo. I don't think anyone from Toledo is on here. I still have one month of nutritional counseling to do. Getting anxious.
  22. When my kids were little and had gas, I would have them lay with their heads down on their pillows, kneeling, with their fannies up. I think the positions of the knees pressing their tummies helped. I am waiting insurance approval.
  23. You have such a wonderful attitude and that's half the battle! Please keep us posted. I'll say a prayer for you that it goes smoothly.
  24. Hi everyone. I am new to this group. I am 61, in the last month of my 6 month nutritional diet . I am starting to get nervous. My insurance should be ok'ed by the end of September. I've studied this decision solidly so why am I getting so nervous?
