So very excited for all you new (and soon to be) sleevers! While the first few days are tough, the days get better quickly. I am four months out today and I feel GREAT! Dr. A is an amazing surgeon and he will truly take good care of you!
Tennis, you will be sleeved before you know it!

Susie,
I got to meet live tennis and talk to her about my surgery experience. She is a great gal. So glad she is going to Dr. A for her surgery!

I had surgery in Piedras Negras and my husband went with me. I could have gone alone. The driver picks you up at the hotel and takes you to hospital then from the hospital to your hotel after surgery. The only time I would not have wanted to be alone would have been on my flight back home. I am glad my husband was there to carry my bag for me. If you go alone, pack lightly!

I would most definitely do it again. Easy surgery but some of the days after are a challenge. Three months out and doing very well now.

Weezer, I know someone that drinks soda flay also. She really struggled with being able to drink anything for several months. If you Dr. Says it is a better alternative to dehydration, try it and see. Cola Syrup is a stomach settling ingredient , my dad used to get it from the pharmacist when I was a kid to settle my stomach. The fizz/ carbonation is not good for our new tummies so let it go flat for sure. I took a sip of my husbands one day in the car thinking it was tea. WOW! That was different. Good luck to you. I too struggle with my Fluid intake because nothing tastes right to me but coffee. :0

You are looking fantastic! Congrats on your accomplishment!!

Mine too! The pain is pretty intense sometimes!

Never heard of Lawrence County myself. Pleasant Hill is very close to Lee's Summit or Blue Springs, about 35 miles SE of Kansas City, MO

I fight that some days too, I was sleeved on 8/02. I have a very low tolerance for stupidity. When you work with your close family (husband and son) that makes some days very hard!

Good advice on the egg issue, Iggychic!
Do try a poached egg and smoosh it like crazy with a fork. You might get half of it down. That is how I are my eggs, but you have to like runny yolks. If you don't then soft scramble them. No meats for awhile, I am over 3 months out and still approach meat with caution!

Glad to hear things are looking up for you and your wife. I am sure it is hard on the children. They just want their life to be normal again too, more than likely.
Best wishes for all of you!

Never read anything about him on VST. I went to Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras. He is excellent, a really great surgeon. Research the Dr's in Mexico, there are several great surgeons, just depends on what is important to YOU in picking a surgeon.

you can check out some of the surgeons on this site.

You are about 50 miles away. I'm a little outside warrensburg. Which hospital did you go to?
That is not too far from Pleasant Hill. I actually went to Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, MX for my surgery, I was self pay. Have ins. but they do not cover WLS. Best thing I have ever done for myself. We have sleever group meetings (a small group of us), you should try to come sometime.

I went to Dr. A...you will do great. He is an awesome surgeon! If you have any questions just pm me!

I too, chose to go to Mexico to have surgery with Dr.Alvarez. I had 0 complications. I had good medical care and absolutely no pain after my surgery. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am sure there are bad surgeons there but there are also good, caring ones. I could have had my surgery done 40 minutes from my home but I chose to travel from the Midwest to Mexico. I had more confidence in Dr. Alvarez than the Dr. And hospital Close to home.

I'm about an hour away from Kansas City. I'll be getting my surgery at kc bariatricsI am from Pleasant Hill, MO...was sleeved on 8/02/12......do you live anywhere near Pleasant Hill?

I cant understand why if the surgery only reduced the size of my stomach i feel the food stuck on my chest... It has the same size as before surgery' date=' i dont see reason to feel the Water or food stuck inmy chest.[/quote']I am not sure why thus happens either, but it dies. I think it has something to do with the tissue swelling.

I just booked my date with him -- January 18th!That is so great! You do not have to wait until summer you will do great with the surgery, Dr.A is pretty amazing!

I had my sleeve surgery with Dr. Alvarez three months ago and he is wonderful. Extremely skilled surgeon for this procedure! I was so cared for by his staff, they were wonderful. I know he is more expensive than other surgeons, but he is truly worth every penny that paid to him. I healed perfectly and had very little pain.

I just had surgery this morning and I am loving the Tomato soup! Yummy!Wow...who gets Tomato Soup right after surgery? I was not allowed to have anything but CLEAR for a full week....tomato Soup was not in the diet plan for 3-4 weeks. It amazes me that diet plans are so different. I have read on here about people eating eggs and oatmeal in the hospital. I was doing good to swallow a clear liquid !
I love unjury chicken soup, I still use it even at 3 months out. I put the powder in Soups & grits and drink it by the cupful in the evening. It really helps me to get in my Protein.
