    Neosporin & Mederma

My surgeon said to keep them clean and dry. Put nothing on them for 3 weeks. Mine itched like mad for a few days and then stopped. Once the scabs come off they do not itch. I have been using SilverSol gel on mine. When I went to my PCP last week, he said my insicions look fantastic

    Not What I Expected

So very sorry about your surgery complications. Hopefully you are on your way to total healing now. Leaks suck and they do happen, no matter who your surgeon is. I hope you feel stronger and better each day!

    Sat In Hospital Room!.

So glad they got you your surgery as scheduled! Hope that you are feeling better tonight. The surgery is not so bad, as surgeries go. Recovery does take some endurance. The lack of calories comes back to bite you in the hiney for a bit. It gets better every day, so I am told!

    Missing Person?

I went to Piedras Negras for my sleeve surgery with Dr. Alvarez. It is really safe crossing the border there. Never heard of anyone not coming back from MX after they went for surgery. Hundreds if people cross the border each day for medical tourism.
  5. This is why we need to research our surgeons, read everything you can find about them, talk personally to former patients! This is your body and you can't trust that to just anyone. I was sleeved on 8/02 by Dr. Alvarez and he is absolutely a top notch surgeon. I had wonderful care by him and his team. I did a lot of research and called former patients before I made my choice. If there are bad Dr's out there, get their name out on these boards so that no one dies because of bad surgery skills.

    Sat In Hospital Room!.

You will do great! Everyone's pain is different. I had no pain or nausea. I was blessed :0 I wish you the same. Where you are right now is the tough spot. Waiting. Soon they will put you under and you will wake up on the losers bench. It is good. May God be with you and your surgeon today!

    Sat In Hospital Room!.

Wishing you all the best today! As long as there is no fever and your lungs are clear, you should be ok. Colds are miserable though right after surgery:( hopefully it all works out for you!
  8. I think my sounds are just my stomach processing food. It does it now even with liquids. My husband loves to listen to it. He gets a good laugh out of every day :-)

    August Sleeves?!

I was sleeved on 8/02. Down 25 pounds and I feel so good. Just started adding in real foods to my soft foods. Have not tried too many things yet, but I am looking forward to being able to have more variety Still struggling with fluids, have never gotten in near 64 oz. Working on doing that each day. Some days it is hard to eat, my stomach is picky about some foods, others it really likes. I can usually tell after one or two bites if I need to stop eating and find something else. It always surprises me at some of the things it does not like yet.

    Surgery Date Changed

Get it over with sooner! Yeah for you! Good luck!
  12. I felt exhausted for about 4 weeks. I work for my hubby so he had mercy on me and let me leave every afternoon to nap. I also just got sick with a virus and it kicked my booty. Try not to get too worn down so you don't catch a bug! Rest and get your protein!
  13. I am six weeks out and my stomach makes really loud gurgles and other crazy sounds after I eat or even just drink a lot. We call it "Chewie" because it truly sounds like Chewbacca sometimes.

    "cauliflower" Potato Soup

Now I want to make this! I grew up on potato soup, my momma's was awesome. I have made this version before when we were low carbing. It is a great fall meal!

    Help....what Else To Do?

You should go to the ER for fluids. Dr. A would not want you suffering like this. Have you called him? He is very good to get back to you when something seems wrong. I talked with him two days ago about this virus I have going on. Please go get checked out and you will feel better. I was never dehydrated but others that were say the fluids help so very much.

    Fmla?

Wow! That means you will be traveling the day after Christmas . I chose mine for the middle of summer so it would be warm weather. I actually decided late May and the soonest I could get in was August. No jumping through insurance hoops with Dr. A. You will love him and Dr. Gabe, Jessica and Jesus. They are all very kind and take very good care of you. My surgery was so great. I woke up in no pain. I hope you have as great of an experience as I had !

    Fmla?

I did not have to do that but just wanted to let you know that I was sleeved by DrA on 8/02. He is a really wonderful man and I am sure he will help you with the paperwork you need.

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

SkinnieMinnie2b......I can tell you that you won't be sorry that you have this surgery. I am 5'2 and I weighed in at 227 when I finally decided to be sleeved. Lots of people told me I was not big enough to have a weight loss surgery. Sorry, but I have been pretty miserable for 24 years of my life and I was so ready to get this weight off my body. You have to do what your heart tells you to do. I feel better every day. There are times when I have gotten sad that I can't eat something but it only lasts for a short time and I know that one day, if I chose to eat something, I can do that. The liquids/soft foods phase does not last forever. I will never understand why people have to say things about others where they can hear them. Just because you are overweight does not make you hard of hearing or immune to the hurt of others words. I am so sorry that you heard the comments that you overheard. You had a good cry and now you can use the hurt to get motivated for your surgery. I wish you all the best

    Unjury

I know that some people say they can taste it but I do not seem to have that issue. You might try ordering the sample packs first to see how you like it. It is not really cheap and I would hate for you to buy the canister and not be happy with it.

    Unjury

I have not tried adding the unflavored to clear drinks.I do add it to soups, yogurt, puddings and hot cereals. I always add it to Warm water first, stir in some of the hot cereal or drink, then mix it into the remaining hot. It does not curdle that way. I have not noticed a taste difference but when I add it to the premade containers of pudding or yogurt, they get thinner. I am thankful for the unflavored protein, it has been my protein that I use everyday to get close to my goal. I have a very hard time drinking shakes, so it has saved me

    August Sleevers..what Is The Progress

I was sleeved on Aug 2, down 25 pounds and I feel really good. I still get tired easily but I normally do not get in enough protein daily. Still working on that each day. I am on mostly soft foods, trying to eat a bite or two of real meat this past week. I eat about 5-6 bites per meal, some soft foods I can eat more (grits, hot cereals, cream soups). Still do not like protein drinks but I am working on using Unjury powders to get in most of my protein goal. People are starting to really notice the weight loss now and that is great!

    Where are the 50s ???

I am 6 weeks out of my sleeve surgery today and doing great. had a visit with my Dr here at home and he thinks I am doing well too. Had to get back on metformin for diabetes but he thinks it will help me to lose weight without stalling every few days. We will see. I am doing 25 pounds, wearing clothes that I could not get on 6 weeks ago and really starting to notice the difference in my body. I too, wish I had done this many years ago but I am thankful that I finally did this for ME. I am learning to eat regular food now and that is going OK. Patience is the key Good luck to all of you that are on this journey! It is never too late to put yourself first!
  23. I was sleeved in MX by Dr. Alvarez and it was a wonderful experience. I woke up in NO pain, had to ask if they had operated on me. I never had nausea or vomited. Had no drain or catheter. I would recommend him to anyone. I paid 8,700.00 and it would have cost at least double that in my area. I am 6 weeks out today and feel great. I love Dr A and his staff and I very blessed to have been sleeved by this team. There is nothing to fear about going to Piedras Negras, it is a quiet little city.
