Susie, That is awesome that you are doing so well! I hope that my surgery goes as well as yours has. How was the flight? I have been concerned with that. I have to stop and change planes at Dallas love field, there was no direct flight from San Antonio to KC. Get to take off and Land twice :0 hopefully I can rest some on the plane. How are you doing with water? I hope that you are not having discomfort with that. Get some good rest and we will talk when you feel like chatting . Hugs, Joyce

    Kansas City Area Sleevers?

The only place in town ( P Hill ) that has a separate room is Sam's Place. I believe they are more of a bar, so they probably don't have breakfast hours. Lee's Summit would have more options in that area. I can do Saturday. Is it allowable to have our spouse attend with us ? If you want to meet where you don't have to be around food, I have a space we could meet at in Pleasant hill.
  3. So good to hear that you are doing great! Hope you have a really quick recovery!

    At The Hospital

I hate the IV so bad, that will probably be the worst part for me. Wishing you all the best!
  5. I have not been there yet but I read the boards a lot and it seems like everyone goes through this. It is probably some swelling as the stomach heals and will settle down soon. Seems like most people say that our taste changes, so that may take longer to figure out. I know that for awhile, there will be bad days as everything heals up inside. Try to stay focused on why you wanted this and very soon things should get better for you. Hang in there

    Kansas City Area Sleevers?

I do attend a church that would probably let us meet there or my husband and I also own a building but both are in Pleasant Hill. I think twice a month would be good to have meetings. I can do Saturdays, but the morning would usually be harder for me. I would love to get a group together for meetings though. I figure I wlll need some advice from others that have been through the things I will be going through.

I understand. That is the easiest way to keep people updated. I know when we cruise, we turn or phones off because even texts we receive cost us $ . There is a phone in the hospital room to call the USA on, I believe I read that in our info packet.

Thank you for the update on Susie, StormWarning . So glad that she is doing so well
  10. Thanks, I will keep your tips on my list. I am afraid of the protein drinks but I hope to find one that is tolerable
  11. I bought the eucalyptus spearmint lotion on Sunday thinking hubby could massage my legs with it after surgery. It does smell good! Now I will have to check for the spray.

Thinking and praying for you today, Sudie. Wishing you as little pain as possible today and in the weeks to come. I know Dr. A will take really good care of you.
  13. I just placed an order for 2 of the Nectar sample packs. Hopefully I will like some of the flavors, I am not big on most fruit flavored shakes. I am hoping the cappuccino is good so it can replace my coffee. I need to order the Unjury chicken and unflavored, Have protein for the clear diet, I have two weeks of that after surgery. Have any of you tried those yet? How long does it take to receive the shipment?
  14. One more "wake up" and you are there How hot is it there?

    Almost One Week

Is the gas you feel from the surgery itself (abdominal cavity) or is it gas in your stomach? I am trying to mentally prepare for the gas attack. I have surgery on 8/02.

    Omg Todays The Day!

Congrats! Hope that you are up and feeling better very quickly. I can't wait to join you. Save me a seat on the loser's bench!!
  17. I have not been sleeved yet (8/02 is my date). I am self pay and chose Dr. Alvarez. He is not the least expensive but he is a very skilled surgeon. I did my research and only found one negative comment on him, and that I took with a grain of salt. I have spoken/emailed with lots of people that have been sleeved by him and they are all doing great. I wanted to stay in a hospital after surgery, not be taken to a recovery house. I also wanted to know my husband would be safe to go out in the town alone while I am in the hospital. I think complications can happen from any surgery, no matter where you have it. There is a board on here with people that have had complications, there are not that many complaints about surgery in Mx but there are some. My future SIL is from MX and he tells me that people cross the border by the hundreds every day to have medical procedures done. If you have to pay out of pocket the rates are much cheaper there.
  18. Yeah for you Susie...give Dr. A a big hug for me and tell him I will see him soon. I will be praying for you~ Best of luck with your recovery.

    Mexico Versus Us

I have surgery on Aug. 2 and I was told that I would need a passport to get back into the USA after surgery. I think new rules apply after July 1.
  21. With Dr. Alvarez if you are a higher BMI, they charge $500.00 more. That is what is stated on the website under packages. Www.endobariatrics.com

    Kansas City Area Sleevers?

Does anyone know if there is a group that meets (not associated with any one surgeon) in the KC area? I am going to be sleeved on Aug.2 in Mexico but I would love to have a group to meet with face to face. I am from Pleasant Hill, SE of KC near Lee's Summit and Blue Springs.
  23. Love these posts, I like to be prepared too!!
  24. My post op diet says cream soups, Greek yogurt (without sugar) . Lots of people eat Trader Joe's soups in a box, but you would have to add unflavored protein to give them a protein burst. You can also process cottage cheese until it has no lumps and put some flavored syrup like Torani in to flavor it. More protein than pudding. Add dry powder milk to soups for more protein too.
