  1. Yesterday was really hard for me. On Friday my daughter lost my 2 only car keys to my new car, they're 300 dollars each from the car dealership, and i still can't find them I'm so tired and weak but i need my keys today it Tuesday and they are still lost. I was crying most the day cause i can't find them.

Sorry to hear about that! What a bummer!. I get extremely weepy around my DH. He is out of town on business- this is our norm but right now I cry each time I see him. Especially because he is so worried about me.

  2. Just a quick caveat. Walking right after surgery will be a bit harder in the beginning. Besides being sore, I got out of breath easily. At first I just went to the corner and back. Now I'm walking up and down the neighborhood. I can feel my circulation and breathing capacity improve with each walk. Keep plugging away at it, it gets easier with time.

  3. My hospital uses a 1-10 pain scale for patients to describe their pain. Once in recovery my pain was a 10 . By the time they rolled me to my room, I was at a 7. Most of the time I was in my room I bounced between a 4 and a 2. At one point I let me pain get ahead of me and was at a 7 again. After that I timed my meds so that I went for walks or potty trips after meds were given. That way I was able to move around a lot more than many of my counterparts.

  4. I needed help getting out of bed, reaching into high cabinets, bathing/drying off from the waist down, putting on shoes and socks, and pulling my pants up after using the restroom. (Tip: Don't let them hit the floor because once you stand up it's a long way down to pick them up!)

I was the same way as above. I am 5 days post op and I took my first shower 100% alone today. Was able to get in and out of bed on my own yesterday, it hurts some but I can do it, using my arm and leg muscles. I was able to put my own sock on as of today. I still cannot bend over to pick anything up off the floor. Slide in shoes are my friend.

As far as in the hospital, you won't need any extra help. The nurses and staff help you as much as needed and if you wear the gown all the time it makes potty time much easier. Adjust the bed to help you get in and out of it.

  5. I keep asking myself the same thing why would I be scheduled without an approval? My surgeon is very confident that I will have no problem but I am a control freak and I would have much rathered receiving an approval letter before having a date.

What are the reprecussions of cancelling the day before if you still haven't heard? Do they charge you a fee? Like others, my Dr.'s office wouldn't even schedule me until they got a copy of my approval letter. If you do this prior to approval, are you willing to cash pay? I would call the insurance company directly to find out what stage it is in. You are always your best advocate, so go get 'em! Good luck.

  6. I'm post-op almost 4 weeks & I don't want anything.. I don't want liquids I def. don't want purée.. I don't Know what to do.. I Try to eat smash up plantains & it hurt my chest & tummy all night.. Is any one else post-op & having a dont want nothing issue? I haven't had a Protein shake in a week.. I'm so tired of it!! Ew!

I agree with the other posters that you have to make yourself eat but I totally understand food holds no interest for me at this point. I am starting to hate my Protein shakes. Bleh! So far I only like a bit of yogurt and apple sauce. I'm trying to make myself excited about more savory foods but they grow cold before I can even finish them. I would be happy just drinking Water all day. A few sleevers have talked about heavily seasoning food, you might try making your food more flavorful with spices to see if that helps. Good luck.

  7. It's surgery, you will have some pain. For me, I had trouble getting in bed by myself the first few days. My pain is localized to one specific area where the doctor sutured the muscle. However staying up on my pain meds helps. Walking helps with the general gas pain. If possible, have a friend or family member stay with you for the first few days. You will not be able to lift your children for several weeks. Best of luck.

  8. My surgery was last week as well. I just walked about a quarter to a third of a mile and I am pooped. In fact I'm laying down resting as I type this. I am struggling to get my liquids in. (My nut puts us on full liquids as soon as we get home). I think it's all normal. If you are staying on top of your pain, walking and resting every few hours and staying hydrated. You ARE doing everything you can- we have to give ourselves time to heal.

  9. Don't you have to pass gas or have a bowel movement before they let you leave the hospital? I'm still pre-op but for both of my csections they told me I couldn't leave until I at least passed gas.

I was up an urinating on my own. So they discharged me. Since I was on clears both the day before and during my hospital stay a BM wasn't required as I did have anything solid to eliminate. As far as the gas, since I was burping they weren't concerned that I hadn't farted.

  10. I've never wanted to pass gas so bad in my entire life. Im on day 3 post op and I'm beyond miserable!!!!!! Even when walking I might get a couple of burps out I know the gas isn't leaving like it needs to. I use the gas x strips and walk around the house every hour. I've yet to pass a single fart. I'm feeling like crap. I need help!!!! Advice please!!!!!

I was sleeved 2/20. I only started passing gas last night. Before they it was really dissatisfying little burps. I still have pain in my chest, which is telling me there is still gas in there. Walking and time are all that help. It will happen.

  11. I was sleeved Feb. 20th. Got home today. My Nut said to start my Vitamins, big mistake! I was nauseous for a few hours after that. Fortunately I did not throw up. It hurts to cough but it is getting the mucous out. So definitely do your breathing exercises. Overall, I feeling ok, most of my pain is on the right where my surgeon stitched my muscle. It also caused a big dent on my side which I've read will go away. Been walking quite a bit, not far but often. Still have some gas pain in my right shoulder. I have never been so happy to fart in my entire life. Good luck to all upcoming Feb sleevers!
