I have been an emotional wreck the past 17 hours. Long story, short version: my dog was brutally attacked on our nightly walk by a large unleashed dog. Needless to say I couldn't eat dinner last night and spent most of the night up worrying. Today, I can also barely eat. I've been nursing a protein shake but it hurts to do more than sip it which is not my norm. Has anyone else had their emotions effect their sleeve?

Not happy with this before and after pic

I am one day behind you, DOS 2/20. My man is an idiot also and says the same thing. I'm down clothing sizes and he says, "nah, no difference." Seriously?! -
Tastes nutty, good in yogurt or plain.

how long after VSG can you have plastics done and does medicaid pay?
erp replied to Shaniceh01's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I do not know the specifics with Medicaid but generally if your pannis is causing medical issues, e.g. Fungal infections, continuous breakdown of the skin, then insurance will pay. If it purely for cosmetic reasons, e.g. I want to look good in shorts, then it is usually not covered. -

I eat them. I missed them most early on and cheated with steamed broccoli and cauliflower, imagine that, broccoli a cheat! Yesterday for a snack I had cottage cheese and peaches. I can't wait for summer produce!

I don't go daily since surgery maybe every two to three days. Given how little I take in, I'm not worried. What does your Dr say? To ease the strain during a movement, during the week I try to stay hydrated, eat soft fruits and veggies, mix All bran into my Greek yogurt, and I take Fiberwell gummys.

I am starting my first closet purge this weekend. So I went to Avenue (plus) they are having a 30% off everything sale right now. I bought 2 light-weight, sleeveless sweaters for spring to wear under jackets on clearance for $7 each. After the discount I walked out the door at $10.53 for new clothes! The sale runs through 3/30/13. P.S. When I went to check out the sales gal said, "Looks like we don't have your address in our system. Let's get you signed up for coupons!". I smiled and said, "Thank you but no thank you, I'm on my way down in size and these sweaters are the smallest size you carry. I don't think I will be coming back." she congratulated me and I told her I may come back to look at some shoes but what a WOW moment that I could be of the plus sizes in a few months!

Off post op restrictions, scared to eat regular!

Hey Grammy, a new picture! Your face is so slender. I see collarbones! -
The store is like a scavenger hunt to me. I search out what I can have. I always end up spending too much but that's ok. It's like a game. I've found some really yummy stuff. I am positively obsessed with Brat Hans chicken meatballs in pineapple teriyaki. They are moist and flavorful. This week I'm going to buy those 100 calorie spicy guacamole packs. I love the store and just make sure I don't walk down the junk food isles.

Off post op restrictions, scared to eat regular!
erp replied to TexasMiss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was craving fruit yesterday. I ate a few pieces of melon and a piece of pineapple, it all went down fine. I considered it all soft foods since the fruit was ripe. My doc said any food is fine- as tolerated. So far I've tolerated most things. I do follow my Nuts advice though and do not eat hard seeds- berries, tough skins- apples, or membranes- citrus yet. I'm tempted to try salad and am thinking I'll start with butter lettuce since it is so soft. I guess my point is try things slowly but definately try them. Good luck. -
Had mine done on the 14th how often do you eat?
erp replied to rhondanell81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I eat 4-5 times a day, at least 2-3 hours in between. I have to force myself because most days I'm not that hungry. I take in about 500-700 cals a day. Been like this for a couple of weeks now. -
I watched for a week straight right after surgery, even googled restaurant menus. I definitely mourned food for a few days post op but then I got over it as I started purees and more normal food. Now I am loving the will power my sleeve and my modest weight lose are giving me. I still love looking at food porn occasionally. It is food porn for me because I don't cook!

Just about 8 weeks out and I'm still eating too fast

Tried the free app. Works great! Thanks for the tip! -
Pizza! The crust goes down way too easy. Had to get up and throw it away before I went crazy. This is not a good discovery. Especially since I think I am in my first stall.
-
Not dumb- you're just worried that you'll never be able to eat pizza again or at least ot for a really long time. Total normal fear and totally unfounded as I proved tonight. :-P
-
I was hoping but no such luck. I went to a dinner/movie party and pizza was the entree otherwise I would have waited longer to try it. The only silver-lining is I was able to eat enough that no one questioned my eating.

I just downloaded the app. Going to use it for my water today too. I never get 64 oz in and I just hit my first stall. -
You may need an orthotic. I would go to a Good Feet store or similar and see what they recommend. Most shoes are for pronation which is the opposite of what you describe. Let me know what you find out, I walk on the outside of my foot too which wears the outer heel down first.

they want me to what?!

Same way you did. Held a pillow to my tummy or leaned my big incision against a couch or upholstered chair. Coughing was so painful for the first 2 weeks. I came down with a head cold about 4 days after surgery and knew I had to get the mucus out. Walking also helps it come up along with the spirometer. Try to time your coughing with your meds if you can but honestly, it's going to hurt for awhile. -
My Top 5 "No No" Foods @ 1 Month Post Op

I'm four weeks out, can tolerate just about everything I've tried. Haven't tried bread or pasta b/c I'm watching carbs but so far so good! I eat 500-700 cals a day, not on purpose just seems to be all I can muster right now. Losing slow but that's ok. I feel better everyday!
