My surgery postponed until 12/15 -- Bummer

As the old saying goes, (which is what everyone told me after my date was switched from Nov 18 to Dec 6), it must be for a reason! That saying really doesn't make it any better dealing with the disappointment. I could be well on my way by now, but instead I'm still waiting. At least you got a reason for the delay, I was just told the proctor couldn't make it that day and given a new date...by the way, I'll be the 1st adj band for my doctor. Good Luck... it will be here before you know it, just think of all those extra meals, lol.
  3. Hello DeLarla, So sorry to hear you're having a down moment. I was thinking about you last night and you have been an inspiration to me. You've always been so positive, even through your trials and tribulations, such as the loss of your port. I'm sure you have been an inspiration to many others as well. It's been as though we could see your smile through your messages. I may have missed the post as to why you don't have or are unable to get a new port, but I truly wish you the best. Please know we are all here for you regardless of your decisions.
  4. Yes indeed this IS an AWESOME SITE! Everyone helps and shares their journey to make our journey easier....thanks in advance!

    Regurgitation, yet no new fill???

Leatha thanks for sharing the film, I found them quite interesting. Sure makes me want to start practicing the chewing and figuring out when I'm full and/or when I'm just eating because it's there and taste so good.
  7. My ins is a no pay, which makes me a self-pay, but my pcp has asked if my doc would do a liver biop, soooo I'm hoping he will then I can bill that to ins and hopefully they will pay something, which is better than $0.00. Good Luck
  8. Shopped on line for 2 hours, hung out in lapbandtalk forum for a while, building up quite a lot of strength in the right hand. Ewwww I hate to exercise, but I know I gotta do it. I was walking up and down the stairs, WAS. PS..bought 2 Christmas presents and 9 new items for my house, free shipping, JCPENNEY....code word..THNKFS...don't tell anybody.

    Mushy Foods.........

Just a funny memory..about 20 years ago my dh had an ostiodimy done (jaw broken to fix overbite) and was wired shut for 6 weeks. He had it done before the holidays. I remember Christmas he was caught squishing deviled eggs through any opening in his teeth he could find. His favorite mush food was Hardees sausage gravy, probably not on the doctors top 10 list. He would bring it home and have me blender it. Happy Holidays everyone!

    Ah me. The (gasp) Holidays

Like DylansMom, I too am not only tired of being the largest person at the family gatherings, but it seems every social event I would attend I'm always the largest person there. And I am sooooo over being the biggest person that I haven't been to a social event in months. I haven't even been banded yet and I can't wait for my first trip to the beach house in the spring.... I'm gonna be right in the middle of every party I can attend!

    I'm glad I told.

Once I have my band AND start to loose weight, I will be more inclined to share my journey with others, but until I start to loose weight and convince myself and know I can do it, only my family will know. I've had too many non loosing experiences (diets) so mums the word until the scales say I've lost...so....shhhhh everyone. Not to mention, if you're like me and self paying, heck yea, I want everyone to know I spent that kind of money on me, cause I'm worth it!

    Need reassurance

My PCP is thrilled, she's tall and thin, obviously, weight has never been an issue. When I told her a year ago I was researching the adjustable band, she was very interested. Thursday when I went for my physical and told her I was going to be the 1st band for our area, she said after our last visit she went on line and researched and thought I was making a great decision! You guys know how much better than made me feel right! She told me not to worry about being the 1st that she had checked on the surgeon and everything would be fine....and for me to return in April just so she could see the new me. PS Fran, when you're done with all those hugs and well wishes, please send them my way, I'll be 4 days behind you.

    Pictures Texas Overnighter

Betty, I've got the same Harley, only a different year. Would you agree this is a very very heavy bike? Everytime I sit mine up, I have to look around and make sure no one's around to hear me grunt when I sit it up, LOL. Mine is pearl white and blue. Everyone looks like they had a great time.... Texas is so far from VA..boohoo
  22. You go girl! I sure hope I look younger... like the transformation you have taken. Good luck and thanks for sharing the pics we all know that takes guts and now you have the glory to go with it.
  23. I will be my Doc's first Adj Band, (with proctor, Dr. Jeffrey Allen), and I didn't get a price break, $15,750.00 outta pocket, of course, that's hospital. doctor, and fills and follow up for a year. I wonder if that would be considered the same thing as a years warranty???? PS...Mamsi wouldn't even consider, #1 they don't have provisions for wls in their contracts and they consider the band experimental since it's reversible....FYI

    I Love This Site!!!!

Yes Michelle, of course I remember you. You've answered my concerns many times, though not always directed to me, the information you've given to others has touched and consoled me as well. Everyone here has a unique personality. There are the Mom's in us that shine through, the girls next door, (you know who you are), the guys that keep us company and enlighten us with knowledge, not to mention poems and often humor. There are those who just cruise the sites, but we know you're there, the numbers show it, LOL. Most of all it's obvious we all CARE about each other. Thanks guys...I'll be counting on you to help me through Dec.
  25. Just wanted to say I feel like I've met most of you personally, everyone is so caring and it really shows when everyone shares their true feelings. I had signed up for some Yahoo Groups and OMG, talk about a lot of less than pleasant people. Not everyone mind you, but nothing like the comfort that goes on here. Thanks to my new friends and supporters.
