    My Story

Thank you everyone for ur words of encouragement! I know this is something that I HAVE to do. I went and saw my cardiologist today and he's gonna give me something to help quit smoking and to help with the cravings. So I think once that is all done I should be good to go!!!!

    My Story

I didn't even think of the caffeine! I drink at least 7 cups of coffee a day between what I have in the morning when I'm getting the kids ready for school and then what I have at work in the afternoon.

    My Story

Well here it goes my story. I started this process over a year ago. I have almost all of my clearances just a couple more to go. But I haven't done them cuz I'm scared. Scared of the surgery scared of what it's gonna be like after the surgery? Also I have had a really hard time quitting smoking! That's been the hardest part for me in this whole process. I just know this is what I have to do to help get me back to being healthy, but I'm just scared! Anyone else out there share what I'm feeling, or been where I am right now? Ill take any and all advice at this point. I've decided to have the surgery but just have to get up the courage to actually do it.

Dont Know If This Is Tmi But.....

I have had these procedures done in the past. I know what to expect from them. I'm just curious as to whether I should expect my surgery time frame changed because of it. Thank you so much for all of your input.
  7. I just found out I have to a gyn surgery within the next few weeks. Just wondering if any other females have gone thru this and if their surgery dates had to be changed because of it. I have to have an endometrial balloon ablation with a dnc and hysteroscopy. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Smoking

I never really realized how much it has been harming me until I went to the pulmonary doctor and actually failed the breathing test. They have you breathe into these tubes to see how much lung function you have and my lung function was not what it should be for someone my age. They contributed it too my obesity and my smoking. I vowed from that moment that I am going to be quitting smoking and this time for good. I quit for each one of my pregnancies, why is it so hard this time? I have quit for nine months at a time, and a few days after giving birth would light up like I never quit. This time I have to quit so I can proceed with this surgery, and make a healthier life for myself!

    Smoking

My doctor requires 3 months of smoke free preop and never go back postop. It is something I've been struggling with but the method that seems to be working for me is to cut back slowly and then eventually you will be at zero. I've been doing the cutting back for about two months now. I started off smoking two packs a day and now I am down to 5 cigarettes a day and soon will be down to none!!

    What Was Your Breaking Point?

My breaking point to decide on the surgery was when I was rushed to the emergency room with chest pain and shortness of breath. They thought I was having a heart attack. I am only 28 years old and to have what they think was a heart attack was very scary. I have three young children and a husband I want to be able to grow old with. When I went for my follow up with my pmd and they had to weigh me and saw what the scale said I knew it was time for a change. 305lbs is not where i want to be. My whole life I have been on the heavy side but since I have had children it has only gotten worse. I am so scared that I will just balloon like my father Dad (RIP). I know I have to do something. I have done all the yoyo diets and exercising I have joined so many gyms. I have my second guesses where i will sit at night when everyone is sleeping and ask myself is this really what you want? My answer is always YES because it is something I HAVE to do to make sure I am around to watch my kids grow.

What Did You Tell Your Kids?

I think kids should be a part of a decision like this. It is something that will effect their lives as well. Regardless of their age they should be informed that mommy or daddy are going to the hospital and will have surgery. With children it is all the way it is explained to them. It has to be explained to them in a way they will understand. Every child is different and has a different way of understanding things and dealing with them. I know from personal experience the younger they are the more questions they will ask.

    Odd Question

I know the feeling its really depressing too. I have people come up to me at work asking if I'm ok do I need anything? All because I al sweating so much. I work in a hospital so everyone is concerned when they see someone that doesn't look healthy and looks like they are having a rough time or is sick. It gets really embarrassing too in front of patients.

What Did You Tell Your Kids?

I have three kids ages 8 7 and 4. My 8 year old is a very mature 8 and I have been telling them since day 1 that mommy is going to be having surgery to help her lose weight and be healthy. It's hard when you have little ones but my feeling is they should be involved in major decisions like this one. Not only is it a life style change for you but it will be for them as well. My kids (especially my oldest) were really scared a first because all they heard was surgery and going thru mommys stomach but once they had an explanation of what the surgery is going to do for me they understood better.

    Odd Question

Wow I am really glad someone posted about this. Since I have had kids and put on weight I have noticed a lot of things have changed. I do swear a lot more and it's really uncomfortable. Especially when your sitting at work and you are sweating just from sitting. I really hope that once I start losing weight that the sweating issue will stop.
