  1. I remember saying my goal was 400lbs, which I almost hit pre op. Then I went to 300, now Im guessing 280. That might be still too high but I guess the notion of me saying 220 or even 250 is so insane!

Great job on the weight loss before surgery and now comes the rest of the journey. Yes, you can get way down there. Just set small goals and chip away till they add up to the total big loss. It can be done and I believe because I am in the same boat. Good luck and keep us posted.

  2. just asking again, to future repliers of beef jerky

i have looked online unsuccessfully for someone who sells beef jerkey online

These are the ones we usually use. They have all kinds and sell wholesale. The also have exotic types.

    http://www.tennesseejerky.com/

This site is basically a competitor of the first so price wars sometimes happen with them.

This is more of a retail one but they have other products also.

    Hope that helps you.

  3. I will mix 20 ounces in a shaker with Protein mix in the mourning then drink 10 for Breakfast and 10 for lunch. This gives a total of about 60gr for protein so far. I always was a big Water drinker but have found I am switching or should I say needing flavor. So all through the day I drink about 1gallon or more of Crystal lite or water with Mio or Powerade Zero. snack time is another 10 oz Protein Drink and a dinner treat of Unjury chicken Soup protein finishing out the days total of 100 to 120gr of protein.

This is a very strict regiment and I sometimes have to remind myself not to fail. It is ok though as I see it training for the next step. The protein helps with the hunger and drinking fluids all day seems to satisfy.

  4. Made it past the half way point with 10 more days to go!!!

A few things I have noticed so far.

    1) A person can really survive on liquids alone.

    2) "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmerman" even what he eats is starting to look good.

    3) As my stomach growls and gurgles at least I have something to listen to all day.

    4) " Don't poke the bear!" Dad is on edge better to leave him alone for awhile.

    5) Cooking for the family sucks!

    6) I now have half a binder with recipes for post diet.

    7) My stomach now jiggles. :P

Down 35lbs which I already feel better but have many more to go.

  5. My Doc believes there are 2 groups of people. The sweet eaters and volume eaters. With past results she recommends the sleeve to volume eaters generally. One reason many slider foods (sweets) can be consumed with the sleeve and actual weight gain can be accomplished. With the other surgery you would have instant dumping syndrome from the sweets.

One other item I myself looked at was the sleeve was a less invasive surgery compared to the other. Also, I am a volume eater so both myself and Doc agreed that would be the best route.

I understand you have to decide but have you asked or considered your Docs recommendations?

  6. Stomach hunger really not bad at all. I have 11 more days on this 3 week liver shrink/pr-op diet. Tried a new Protein Shake today. It was the same brand and flavor but had Peanut Butter flavor added and all I can say is yuck! I thought it would be a treat because I am crazy for peanut butter but this one somehow missed the mark. Still using the chicken Soup flavor Unjury for a comfort food every evening.

Hardest part of this diet is I cook all meals for my family and for the past week they wanted all Dad's favorites. Made enchiladas night before last for dinner and homemade blueberry muffins, pancakes for Breakfast for them. And here Dad is with a watery Protein Drink. Oh well, Dad in training for what is to come.

  7. 1) My coordinators job was to lose every other piece of document that I provided.

    2) To forget to schedule important doctor appointments.

    3) To not return calls for 4-5 days if he even does.

    4) To never send my package to the insurance company, so I had to get em on the ball again.

    5) To call me when insurance approved me acting like he did me a favor expecting me to be gracious.

    6) Basically I was on the fast track of 3 month wait that turned into 7 months because of him.

  8. Unjury chicken flavor warning. Well the label did say not to get the Water to hot and boy were they right. Every other evening I have been having this as a treat because of the salty chicken flavor. Tonight the water must have been a wee bit hot because when I added the powder it would not mix right and then I ended up with a solid rubber ball. Flat out weird, and we drink this. :P

  9. I am hitting day 7 of a 21 day pre-op diet and not to bad so far. Of course the Doc hit me with a 3 week liver shrink instead of 2 because I am a big ole boy. Down 30 lbs so far with 2 more weeks to go before surgery. I had been reducing my food intake for the last 2 weeks before I started so it would not be such a shock. The Doc has allowed me a small dinner and even a yogurt if wanted per day. But so far have been following a more disciplined attack 2 to 3 Protein Drinks a day and a hot meal of fresh or canned spinach for dinner to feel good. Oh yeah the Unjury chicken Soup has helped to comfort as I found it to be very salty.

Well, 14 more days to go and as long as I stay this route I am hoping all goes well.

  10. Keep it going Patrick, I know where you are coming from. Like the others said it took years to put on but look at what you already have done in such short time. As for feeling better, I am starting to feel the same after just 30 lb loss. When I was at my highest of 505 I just felt miserable. But am starting to come around just by losing some of it. This feeling should I hope replace some of our food wants down the road. Great Job!
