I have these labs scheduled:
ferritin
H pylori
hgc a1c
iron biding capacity
lipid panel
metabolic panel
parathormone
I am self pay, and I've paid for my surgery, but now I'm concerned over what the cost of these labs will be. My pcp had a few iron test completed a year ago. I wish he would write the lab order so my insurance would cover at least some of the labs. :/ My insurance doesn't cover any part of WLS, no exceptions. Am I looking at 500? 5000???

Aren't most Protein Shakes like 12 or 16 ounces? I'm thinking of the ones you make in the blender with water/milk/ice. How do you have one for breakfast, it's so big! I have and love shakeology, but thought i wouldn't be able to use them, and was looking and buying Protein Shots instead? Can someone explain please?

Way to go!

That's amazing! I can't wait to have the stamina to workout like that. Maybe try some weight training too? Sparkpeople has free videos you can work out with. Building muscle mass will also help with sagging skin. Keep up the great work!

I'm only slightly kidding! My surgery is May 30 and I'm finding things to worry about I guess! Do you cook food for your family that you know you can't eat, or does your family have to suck it up and eat what you can it (only a bigger portion). I can't imagine what it will be like to not feel hunger!

Hi! I went to a seminar on VSG about a month ago and in that month I have decided to follow through with the surgery and will have my surgery on May 30. It's all moving quickly, but I am confident it's the right thing for me and all the peices are falling together nicely.
I am 36 (will be 37 1 month post op) and have been overweight for 18 years. Yikes, that's half my life. I never noticed that. I am married and have a soon to be 7 year old child. I am self pay (financed), and my highest weight was about 2 months ago at 306. I am now down to 292, and will start my pre-op diet in a week.
I just wanted to introduce myself as I have read basically every thread on this former and was feeling very stalkerish. I wish all of you the best of health!

I've had that thought, then I've also looked in the newspaper and seen photos of people my age that died of "natural causes" and they are almost always morbidly obese. You have to feel good about the decision YOU make.
