  1. I had my surgery Tuesday and am home. I just took a nap for an hour and had a food dream, I had a shrimp and a piece of zucchini on a fork and was putting it towards my mouth...I woke up in a panic! I am not craving food while awake so it must be my mind working out some issues. Keep working on the fluids so you can go home. Good luck!

Down 28 Lbs In 25 Days

That's fantastic! We have similar stats, you give me hope:)
  3. I had my surgery on 8/14 and came home yesterday. I am completely amazed that I ate my last pre-op meal on Monday at noon and as of right now I have not felt a single twinge of hunger. I don't know how long this lasts but I am enjoying every second of it! My surgery went well, my doctor was very pleased. Recovery is kind of rough but I know I will feel better each day. I only threw up twice in the hospital and I haven't had any queasiness since the car ride home. I haven't taken anything for pain today, although I may need to soon. I have followed doctors orders to the letter and can not wait for the weight to start coming off! It felt like eternity for the day to get here and now it seems like it may have been a dream. Yay, I am sleeved!!!

    Ready!

    Best of luck to you!!
  7. I am doing my pre-op diet and you'd have thought I stuck a knife in my parents' heart yesterday when I couldn't eat Italian Sunday dinner! I have been trying to think ahead of how I will handle it post op. Luckily, the table is usually loud and chaotic so the lack of food on my plate won't be noticed. I will ask my mother to cook chicken breast in sauce along with the bracciole, pork, meatballs. I will probably be happy enough to taste the sauce, eat whatever vegetable and a bit of fruit for dessert. I will need to sit far away from dad though... "macaroni will never hurt you, have some more wine, here taste this olive oil on the bread, etc". I'm sure your family (like mine) celebrates everything with a table full of food but we really know it's more about the people, the conversation, and closeness that is the best part. Good luck on Sundays...we are going to need it!

    No More Staring!

What an inspiring post, thanks for sharing!
  10. ...and I am a wreck! It seems the more excited I get about surgery, the more scared and anxious I become at the same time. I am absolutely a bundle of nerves thinking about the anesthesia. I am a bit of a control freak (my husband would be say it's more than a little), so the thought of being "knocked out" messes with those issues big time. Then there is the fear of not waking up, or waking up during surgery but I try not to let myself go there. The rational part of me knows that I shouldn't worry about things I can't control but that obviously does me no good. I am not worried or afraid of the pain and recovery afterward, I feel like I can handle that, it's just that part when I am not awake. I have been focusing on the positive, educating myself , preparing for recovery, following my pre op diet to the letter...I want this and I am done with this fat body, I really wish Tuesday was right now. Am I a nutjob?

    2 More Sleeps!

I love all the med shows except last night my husband put on NY Med and it was too much and too close to surgery. He dodged a few shoes!

  13. Visit the American Lung Association's website. I quit 8 years ago and joined their forum and followed their program. They have lots of tips. It was the only thing that ever worked for me. Good luck!

    5 Days And A Wake-Up

I was telling my husband how nervous I was and compared it to the anticipation of childbirth for the first time...it's probably going to hurt like h*ll but will have a beautiful ending!
  15. Woohoo! I just thought about this yesterday. My license expires 6/13 and I will be so happy about changing this current picture.

    Stuck In Neutral

It's sad when we have to be made to feel like a pest when we just want a surgery date! I hope it goes better for you from here on out, good luck!
  21. Last week I received my surgery date, 8/28/12. I was a little bummed because I was hoping for it to be sooner... WELL, the coordinator just called and said there was an opening next week 8/14! Luckily, I have been following the pre-op diet for a few weeks in hopes of this happening. I go tomorrow for my pre-op appointments and then I only have a week to wait. I am so ready, so excited, and so grateful for this life changing opportunity that I just can't wait to get started. Now excuse me while I get busy reading all of the great advice posted on this forum!
  22. Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
  23. Deana, that has to be so hard! I feel very lucky that I get to eat food (no fat, 1,000cal) up until Monday afternoon. We are having a bunch of out of state family coming over Sunday...and my family loves a sunday meal, this will be one last challenge for me. We are so close to our date, it hardly seems real! Take care
