  1. Curious to know what you found out about the pain in your chest? I'm having that. Although I'm having issues even getting anything down AT TIMES. It usually stays down so I don't think I have a slip, but I'm so tired of hurting!
  2. Okay...another zoloft question - actually generic setraline...I take 50 mg setraline nightly and have had some slight discomfort here and there but nothing bad until last night. I don't think I got it all the way swallowed and ended up with horrible pain....I still have what feels like a golf ball in my chest today. Has anyone else had this? I thought I would try to eat lightly today and see if the pain is leftover from last night's episode but was just curious if anyone had experience here. Thanks!

    May 2007 Banders

First fill yesterday - 1.2 and I think I may die of hunger today! Five days of liquids to boot.....I hope that I'm one of those 'delayed restriction' people and I feel some restriction in the next week. If not, I'm really not sure what to do because my stomach is growling SOOOO loud and hard that it physically hurts. Ugh. But hey, I'm happy - I was so nervous about the fill and it was a piece o' cake.... Hope everyone has a great 4th!

    Fill amount Poll

I had my first fill of 1.2 yesterday and I'm STARVING. I had a little 'gurgle' at the time of the fill when the dr. had me drink water, so I'm hoping that in the next few days, I will feel some restriction. Of course I am only on liquids for 5 days so that has something to do with being hungry. Since I am leaving for 6 weeks and wouldn't be near my doctor, I really wanted him to err on the side of 'not enough' vs. 'too much'.

    Something bad's going on

I read somewhere on this forum that someone else was having problems with a generic form of Zoloft but could take Zoloft fine. Something to do with the inactive ingredients causing them problems. something to check into. I take generic zoloft and haven't had any problems yet, but then again, no fill yet either. Hmmm...will be watching to make sure I don't have a problem. Good luck getting it figured out!

    Tight after flying

Yep, I just got home from a vacation where I had a 6 hour flight and I have no fill yet..but I felt like I did! Not a bad thing because I actually lost weight.

    May 2007 Banders

Hi everyone! I haven't checked in for awhile because I was on vacation. Everyone is doing so good. I can't say I'm doing great but hey, I lost several pounds even on vacation and I didn't tell anyone there I had surgery...so that was interesting! I'm so ready for my first fill. Scheduled for Tuesday. I'm worried because I am leaving town 2 days after that fill for 7 weeks...I hope I get enough restriction that I won't be starving all the time. And I just have to weigh in on the 'gas issue' UGH....I am sooo tired of gas....and so is my family. LOL Anyone have any ideas on how to make this less? I was trying to update my ticker but having issues....down 30.5 lbs total.

    Would you do it again?

In a heartbeat I would do it again! I was just banded on 5/21 and am in 'bandster hell' right now because I'm very hungry and have no restriction but that's okay....I know that in 2.5 more weeks, I get my first fill. In the meantime, I'm loving the 25 lbs that is already gone. HUGE difference and I've already cleaned out 3 bags of clothes that are too big! WOOHOO!!! Slow and easy....exactly how it needs to come off...face it,we didn't get morbidly obese overnight!

    Post Op Eating before Fills

You and I have both lost about the same - 10 lbs for me. The first 15 were pre-op....

    Post Op Eating before Fills

You know what I do is just measure my 3/4 cup of food and never eat more than that and then I KNOW that I'm okay because that's what my doc says I can have over an hours time of eating. It takes HUGE amts of self control to not scarf it all down at once. I have learned to take a bite and then go do something else, go back and take a bite, etc. That is just my way to not have it all gone in 5 minutes...

    Post Op Eating before Fills

Yep, no restriction yet. I cannot wait until my first fill! I just called the doc's office today to see if I can have it at 6 weeks instead of 7. I hope he says yes. I still have another 3 weeks before that - I am just 3 weeks post op today and hungry a lot. There is a reason they call this time 'bandster hell'. LOL My doc says DO NOT focus on weight loss right now although he doesn't want to see a weight gain either.

Any One Else Struggling - - PLEASE HELP

Cleo -Is it starving if you don't have hunger pangs though? That was the whole reason I got the lap band! I was tired of having it feel like my stomach was chomping on itself and I could just cut back the food without being so danged hungry all the time. My suggestion to you regarding the protein is ALWAYS eat your protein first - be it tuna, chicken, cottage cheese, etc. And find some supplement that is higher in protein. I use several different things when my days are low and one is Isopure from GNC. The taste isn't great but I add part of a Crystal Light on the Go and it makes it better. Best part - 40 grams o protein in that 20 ounces of liquid that i spread throughout the day. There are also several other choices at bariatriceating.com that I like....explore and I hope you can find that balance for you.

My best friend dies and I can't stop eating

JeninCO- I am so sorry for your loss. I think most of us on here understand the emotional eating problem that you are experiencing. I know I do - my husband died 10 years ago and I ate and ate and ate to try and self-medicate....as we know, that doesn't work. I hope that you can connect with someone that can help you through these hard times and deal with the loss of your friend.Hugs...otw
  14. Yowza, 100 calories a day?!?!?! That seems incredible to me. I was sent home from the hospital on full liquids! Which I do say was awesome because I was hungry right away. But I have very little swelling or restriction so I'm happy. Yes, I will lose slower than you but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. If you are starving, talk to your doc about it.....mine moved me to pureed foods on Day 10 because I could tolerate full liquids with no problems - I've never had a single bout of nausea. For that I'm thankful! Good luck to you! We are on the way to a healthier life! :welldoneclap:

Ljuht115- Do not use hydrogen peroxide on your incisions. It takes away tissue that should not go. If you need to use a little neosporin, that is okay, BUT if it is still pretty red, you may want to check with your surgeon. Is there heat to the touch too? Err to the side of caution at the port site, an infection there can be very bad.

It is interesting to read the difference in post-op! I was moved to no movement restrictions yesterday. In fact, my surgeon said to move and stretch every day as least 10 minutes twice daily to make sure the scar tissue doesn't get too bad. I actually started back on the elliptical last Monday and while my stamina is a little less than it was pre-surgery, it is coming back quickly.
  17. I was just going to post that I could not sign up for female seeking male on that site....nor should I want to. It is a site designed specifically for male seeking male or female seeking female...and that's okay, I don't need to file a lawsuit because I was left out...I'll just go to EHarmony...or a bazillion other sites until I find the right fit for my life. (Obviously not really since I'm married but trying to prove a point!) And thank you for the correction about gay Christians, you are correct. I could have used another term such as Bible-based belief system.
  18. Okay, I get to disagree! I met my husband on EHarmony and loved the process. I liked that we couldn't see each other first - we both are widowed and 'older' (39 for me, over 40 for him) and both knew what we needed/wanted in a spouse. If you are honest in your personality profile, not just put what you wish you were, I believe it works. I got to learn about a man before I ever knew what he looked like. And for the gay/lesbian issue....go to another site - EHarmony was created on a Christian based belief system so no, they don't cater to gay/lesbian. It is no different than if I went to outinamerica.com and tried to find a heterosexual partner and then complained about it. It's okay for a business to cater only to homosexuality but not the other way around? ESPECIALLY one designed to let like-minded people meet??? I am soooo tired of that mentality.
  19. I love Unjury! It is less sweet than the others and like Hoosierpoms says, the unflavored in Soup or juice or whatever is awesome! I was running low on calories/protein the other day so I used a scoop of chocolate unjury, lf mild an 2 tblsp sugar free Peanut Butter. YUMMO! Tasted like a chocolate pb shake! I also really liked the chicken broth much better than the others I have tried. What don't you like about it? And which have you tried? I am not a fan of vanilla or strawberry.... I have a really hard time finding a Protein drink that is worth a darn so that is why the unflavored is my favorite.

    MAJOR back pain

I was banded on 5/21 and all went well...the only major pain I had was in the middle of my back and it felt like a pinched nerve. I still get that pain after eating - well drinking since it is full liquids...and I eat only 2 oz at once. I'm trying to figure out what triggers it but so far can only come up with that it maybe is if the liquid is too cold???? I'm hoping it goes away at some point! Anyone else with this experience?

Doctor Says its a no-go - Any solutions?

Yep, what everyone else is saying -- your doctor is full of it! Mine specifically said before surgery that if he found one, he would fix it...no big deal. My doc is in Bakersfield...so I don't know how far north you are but I would highly recommend them. I do know there are some in Fresno at a 'center of excellence' if your insurance requires it. Send me a private message if you want more info.

Sounds like most everybody is doing great! I'm hungry!!! It doesn't seem that I have much restriction, so protein drinks and blended soups are keeping me from totally starving. I can feel liquids go all the way down, so I'm guessing that until my first fill, I will be dealing with this hunger. Oh well...I'm still happy that I have it...it's just a learning curve. I did discover that my favorite protein drink is Unjury. Not as sickening sweet as the others. I added a TBLSP of peanut butter to my chocolate and YUM!!! Felt like a milkshake. I'm still very gassy and have some back spasms right in the middle of my back which I've had from right after surgery. Getting better though and actually got to sleep in my bed all night last night! woohoo!!! Good luck to all....

I'm feeling horrible! I don't know if my hubby brought me home the flu or what is going on. I'm weak, achy, diarrhea still, and even had to take my anti-spew pills today. I've been getting leg cramps too. Think I may have dehydrated. I did also take immodium finally this morning and have managed to get down 40 oz of water so far. Ugh. I called the doc's office and told them what was going on so we shall see if I improve during the day today. And I did SO GOOD yesterday....

I didn't have barium, but some other very nasty stuff that was clear and bitter. But whatever the cause, I'm looking forward to it calming down. I'm so looking forward to new clothes down the road some! Actually, I'm just looking forward to my closet full of clothes that I haven't been able to wear for many years now. I have every size availableI believe thanks to my yo-yo dieting for 20 years. And my unwillingness to just get rid of them.....
