    Confession!

I put 3 crackers in my broth and once it was mushy I ate it.
  2. My surgeon doubled me up. This is just to be extra safe as far as leaks go. Lots of surgeons do it. Youll be fine. Good luck

    6 Days Out And Pain

I am 9 days post op and my doc has me on privacid that dissolves on my toungue. I have been on it since day 2 post op because of acid reflux..it helps so much with the pain from the gas....also gas x works great.
  4. First off, let me say how truly blessed I was to have had the VSG. I am morbidly obese and I know this has saved my life. My parents even paid 10,000 out of pocket for me to have this surgery. I know that God had his hand in all of it and I am so grateful. Ok, I had the VSG done last Thursday, March 29th. The surgery went great. I was released to go home the next evening. I was in some pain but not much. The pain from gas bothered me the most (and still does some). But since I have been home I felt depressed and not myself. I am usually the person who people come to for encouragment and Im always positive. My faith gets me along way. And although my faith has not been shaken...I kinda regret having this done. I MISS FOOD! I feel hungry! My family eats dinner and I feel so sad that I cannot eat. WHAT IS GOING ON IN MY MIND?? I have looked forward to having this surgery for so long but now all I want to do is eat. I know its in my head but Im stronger than this. It's not like me to feel this way!! It's weird! I had a follow-up with my surgeon today and he said this will all go away and in a couple of weeks I will feel better! Anyone else feeling this way??
  5. Thank you everyone! It's so good to know that I dont need to feel ashamed of the feelings that I am having. Just knowing that it does get better helps. On a positive note...I have lost 17 lbs since I started my pre-op liquids! Also, thanks for the concern with the tornado's yesterday. The big one hit 2 miles east of my home. I drove by the devastation earlier and it's so sad. My church is doing alot of the volunteer work and I just wish I could join them. Dont think I would be much help since I am 6 days post op. Prayers greatley appreciated! Thanks all and good luck!! God bless us all!

    Sleeved Monday

I weighed 9 pounds more when I came out of surgery than I did when I went into surgery. I think it's due to all the liquids they give you via IV. Sorry you are having so much pain and I hope for a speedy recovery for you. I am 6 days post op and feeling ok. Good luck and God bless.

    Nervous

I had my sleeve done March 29th and I was so nervous before. You are all having normal feelings. If u have come this far then u can go all the way. I did lots of praying. Good luck and God bless
  10. I had my surgery on March 29th at Texas Reginal Hospital in Sunnyvale Tx. Dr. Zakhour was my surgeon. I was so nervous going into surgery and had such a huge fear that something would go wrong and I would not wake up. ( I tend to worry alot) But everything went great. I was discharged from the hospital the next evening. I was in a bit of pain the first 2-3 days and had lots of gas. My doctor has me on a dissolvalbe privacid that seems to help. I have also noticed that the very best thing for gas is WALKING! I can not stress this enough people. WALK WALK WALK! I try to walk for about 5-10 minutes every hour. Nothing major, just a slow, peaceful walk. It sure helps me to pass the gas better. (which feels great) I also do the Gas X strips when needed but nothing helps like walking. It also helps with not getting blood clots. As far as the pain from surgery, it is manageable. I take my Lortab when needed but I am only taking it once or twice a day now. Im sore but not too bad. I have been on clear liquids but was told to start my full liquids today. Im a bit scared about that but I did have 2 ounces of no sugar added apple sauce and I did great with it. I noticed myself getting "head hungry" last night when my family had grilled chicken and baked potatoes....I was kinda depressed. So, I went for a walk and it helped ALOT! Good luck to all and God bless!!
  11. Just amazing! GOD is good and faithful! Good luck and may God continue to bless you!!

    5 Days Post Op

I never even knew my catheter was there. It went in after I was put under and it came out before I woke up. I started walking the very next morning. I guess all doctors are different.

    Ekg Omg

Sounds to me like you will need cardiac clearance is all. My dad went through (almost) the same thing. It's mostly a paperwork issue. And of course your surgeon wants to be sure that your heart can handle the surgery. Im thinking you'll just need the clearance from the cardiologist though. Keep your head up and good luck.

    5 Days Post Op

No, I am not doing chores yet...i have such a strong family support system and get tons of help. As far as being unable to walk in the hospital....my nurse is the person who really helped me understand how important it is to walk. the only thing I had to unplug was the IV and I was able to do that on my own. I have never been a fan of exercise (probably why I topped out at 330) but I really love to walk now.
  16. I walk for about 10 minutes up and down my street. ( I live in the country) I don't push myself or anything, just slow and steady. It really feels great during and after the walks. I actually enjoy them now. Trust me...if you have gas...IT HELPS! Good luck
  17. I would not take the nexium in pill form yet...ask ur dr. I am 5 days out and I had the same problems as you...GAS. The best thing for gas is to WALK. It does get better each day.
  18. I am in Forney....east of Dallas. Dr Zakhour did my sleeve March 29th. I am 5 days post op. Doing ok...each day gets better. I walk atleast 10 times a day and it is the best medicine. I am down 12 pounds. Goodluck all
