  1. I had a vertical sleeve done in 2012 by Dr. Kim in Dallas, Texas. I traveled from Albuquerque, NM to have the surgery.

I have always been an emotional eater and my starting weight was 255. I am currently 243.

The sleeve only restricted my eating for about 8 months and then it was all up to me. I got down to 189 and it was fantastic! Then about a year and a half ago the weight started slowly creeping back on.

I am very disappointed in myself and I contacted Dr. Kim to ask about my revision surgery options but his staff told me that he won't revise his work if you live in another state.

Has anyone had a similar experience or have any advice?

  2. I was sleeved on the 5th of June. I have been feeling very fatigued; I don't think I am getting enough Protein because it's grossing me out at the moment. I am also afraid to ingest too many calories. I sip on V8 fusion juice light all day and it's starting to make me paranoid that I'm drinking too many calories. I'm just going to force myself to drink the shakes tomorrow and hopefully I'll feel a little more energized. Also, I can literally drink an entire cup of liquid within minutes. Does that mean that my sleeve is not restricting my intake? I'm a little worried about that.

  3. Tomorrow, after a month of crazy binging, I begin the liquid diet. I'm so anxious! Mom my asked me if I would reconsider the surgery if I lost a lot of weight on the liquid diet. I just stared at her. Of course I'go still going to do it! There's no backing out now. I just hope that they don't find out later on that vsg has negative effects. Like it knocks 10 points off your IQ or something. Is it worth it? Is life better in the other side of the scale? Can this liquid diet be done? What will I do with this newfound free time?

  4. So I called his office and they told me that due to my age, they are going to waive the cardio lab work. I wonder if that is a good idea. I mean, I'm not 18. I hope this is normal. By the way, I finished my last final, and I would really like to grab that cup of coffee sometime early next week. I see that you've almost lost 60lbs! That is so wonderful, I am truly happy for you. How have you been feeling?

  5. Wow, you are amazing! I can't even imagine. You mentioned that you found out who were your real friends; could you please expand on that a little? Were people unsupportive? Jealous? I have a few friendships that seen to revolve around food and bingeing. I wonder what we will have in common after the sleeve. Also, you said that you are an emotional eater, I am too. What do you do now when you get the urge to binge?

  6. You're twenties are potentially some of the best years of your life. My mom didn't want me to get the sleeve due to safety concerns. Not to be a totally lame, but I quoted Steel Magnolias. I told her that I would rather have a couple minutes if wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special. It took her some time and research until she was on board. Now she is very supportive and I am so grateful.
