    May 2007 Banders

I'm two days post op. Certainly better than yesterday, but still have this pressure/tightness in my chest right between the boobs - what is that? Is that the band itself? My Dr. puts the apparatus (where the saline is injected) closer to the chest area towards the bottom of the ribs rather than the hip, is that what's causing the pressure too? (Dr. Spivak, Houston, TX) Really uncomfortable. Am I drinking too much such that it's buidling up and causing the pressure? Any insight anyone has on how to relieve this discomfort would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing - I had my surgery on the 18th and can definately say you will NOT want to drive yourself home.

I wear longer shorts/pant so there is always some clothe there to keep the skin from touching. Light, cotton sweatpant type capris. I actually get them from the PJ section rather than sports/sweatpants section. Can find lighterweight, stretchy capri type lengths there - like at Target. Hope that helps.

:help: Dudes, this is NOT fun. Had surgery on Friday, can't get any burps out. Finally started getting some gas out the other way. The pressure and pain are SO uncomfortable. Have been taking Gas-x chewables and Tylenol. Constantly getting a feeling of needing to burp/burp coming up but can't release it so it just gets lodged it feels like - OW! I was not expecting this much pain and discomfort. BLAH! I am getting better though..... My Mom just had RNY a little over a week ago and is great support.
  5. That's what I figured. Just making sure. Thanks!
  6. HEY! Wow! That's a great weight loss already! I can't wait to get mine done....14 days and counting....
  7. Thanks for the info! Congrats and good luck! -Rachel
  8. I've been looking at the links you sent me. This is great! I have to figure out how to do this myself. I did feel a little silly writing something that I was sure had been discussed before somewhere, sometime. I think I can do it based on your great instructions. THANKS!!!

    Houston Twelve Oaks Hospital

Hazel, thanks so much for your post. I am still in the researching phase but was narrowing in on Spivak at Park Plaza. I think he's going to be my choice. I'm attending his seminar tomorrow night. Do you mind if I email you separately with other questions if I have them? -Rachel

    Houston Twelve Oaks Hospital

Thank you so much for writing about your experience. I am in the middle of trying to pick a doc and hospital and this was great info. I had pretty much ruled out the Twelve Oaks group but this helps to confirm that decision. I'm leaning towards not having the procedure done at a hospital but rather a surgery center that just does the band.... Anyway, thanks!
  11. GREAT! Thanks so much for the info! I'll put it on my calendar! -Rachel
  12. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with the North Houston Bandsters (I believe that's the name of the group) or any other support group that gets together in the Spring/Woodlands, TX area (north of Houston). THANKS SO MUCH! -Rachel
