  1. Are you an alcoholic? Can we be friends? :aureola:
  2. I understand you're upset but I really think the name calling is a bit childish and unnecessary. She was just offering an opinion, that you solicited, and just because you don't agree with it doesn't give you the right to be nasty. If you can't handle getting a response you don't like, either grow up and learn to accept that we all have different opinions, or delete your OP, but please don't pollute our normally very supportive boards with your negativity and immaturity.
  3. Jellyfish, may I suggest you simply ignore the comments you don't agree with and simply focus on the responses that answer your question in the manner you were expecting? I think it's great that you modified your last post from it's original form, but I think this conversation is getting a little too emotional to be productive.
  4. My Dr had me start purees on day 8 but I see lots of people here who went 2,3, even 4 weeks post op. Just curious. I'm also thinking that my sleevie may not be ready for purees which may be why I'm having such a hard time with them.
  5. My surgeon gave me the script for my B12 injections, and I got it filled, but I'm not sure when I'm supposed to use it? I know it's a monthly thing but how soon after surgery do I need it? I'm 9 days post op.
  6. This is so inspiring! Congratulations on all your success! I can't wait to read that you've hit goal!
  7. I can see where you're coming from and I get it. Pre-op and pre-pre-op diet I ate what I wanted, in moderation, but I stayed away from fast food, fried food, red meat, pork, sweets, chips, Snacks and anything generally labeled aw "unhealthy," and ate only chicken, fish, fruits, veggies and otherwise healthy foods. I've had those eating habits for 15 years but alas, here I am. Will some of our taste buds change post op? Possibly. I'm sure there will be 1 or 2 things I can't stand once I begin to reintroduce food into my sleeve. But I think the biggest change will be the amount of the food we eat. I'm sure some will see drastic changes in what they can tolerate or what they want to eat, but I really feel like the portion sizes will be the biggest difference. Yes, eventually we may be able to eat an ounce or two more, but if my understanding is correct we will never be able to eat the portion sizes we used to. In my opinion, as long as we keep in mind that our new standard of "moderation" has effectively reduced to a toddlers portion, and we don't try to overdo it or somehow cheat our sleeve, we should all see success.

    Xbox Kinect Exercising

What were the ones for the Wii? I'm so confused by all the different names! I've had a Wii for 2 years but mostly my teenager uses it. I was at my dad's for New Years and he had the Kinect and some dance game they were all playing - it looked cool but since I don't have Xbox may as well work with what I've got!

    Post Op Reintroduction Of Foods?

I don't think so and I think its starting to catch up to me. I ate a tiny bite of a bean burrito I made for my son tonight and instantly had to vomit. From what my Dr said increased nausea is a sign of dehydration.
  10. I was sleeved on 1/20 and was 100% liquid for the first week before I moved to purees. I've been on purees (Per Drs order) since Saturday but I'm finding that I'm having trouble consuming anything other than sugar free popsicles, yogurt, and milk. I know I'm supposed to be doing the Protein shakes, I can't stomach them. A friend went to tropical smoothie cafe and got me my favorite, a pb&j protein smoothie - it made me nauseus after 4 sips. So for the last 11 days I've been surviving on sf popsicles and the little nibbles of food I manage to force into myself. I can't decide if it's the texture of the foods or the taste of the foods that just isn't sitting well with me. Sometimes it's the texture, sometimes when I eat things don't sit right in my sleeve. Sometimes it's the taste. The funny thing is, I've been rotating the same 4 foods since Saturday: eggs, refried Beans, canned chicken, and fat free cream of chicken Soup. None of them appeal to me, sometimes they don't sit right, yesterday they gave me heartburn, today they gave me gas... I'm at a loss! Even pureed fuit just isn't working for me right now. I'm supposed to go to mushies next week too but I'm in no position to be comsuming real food at this point. I feel like I want to just stop eating for another two weeks and then try again. Anybody have any simiilar issues? Have any recipes that went down easy? I'd love to be able to eat, especially since I go back to work Monday, I just really can't stomach anything consistantly.
  11. Have u thought about couch surfing? I'm not sure what the site is but its definitely cheap!

    I Have A Date--And It's Next Week!

Congrats! You're getting sleeved on my birthday so I know things are going to go great! Good luck!
  13. Love this thread! My surgery was January 20, 2012 and I will conquer 5miles by 5AM. I've always wanted to be one of those crazy people you see running before the sun comes up!
  14. OK, so I'm new to the board obvi, but like any good newbie I'm attempting to aquaint myself and learn the lingo and culture. Unfortunately there are a few things I just don't get so I was hoping you guys could help me out. What's the difference between mushies and purees? What does TOM stand for? What other acronyms etc.. does a newbie need to know in order to navigate?

    A Litte Discouraged...

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having this difficulty! I've found since being sleeved (same day as you) that some days the scale moves, others it doesn't. I think it's probably perfectly normal. In fact, I know it is! I'm doing my best to only step on the scale every other day, so far it's working and it's been pretty easy! Just hang in there and keep doing what you've been doing - the scale will move!

    Post Op B12?

Vance - I appreciate the concern! My surgeon had to write me the script to get the B12 and gave me a tutorial in the office on how to do it. It's just a once a month injection in my belly or wherever I choose to put it. I'm just not sure when I should start it.
  17. Hey guys! So I was sleeved on 1/20 by Dr Kim in Celebration. The first 24hrs were really rough - I think I puked like 4 times. I was supposed to be out of the hospital 1/21 but had to stay an extra night because I couldn't keep anything down, and then the next day I lied about my Fluid intake so I could go home. I know, shame on me *slaps hand* but I couldn't take it anymore. So anyway, since I've been home I've been trying like hell to get my liquids in but it just doesn't seem to be working. I haven't had a Protein shake until today because they were too thick and I just couldn't stomach it. Today has been a better day and I picked up some Atkins RTD that I can stomach, but those are only 11oz, how the heck do I get the other 49oz in and still eat my purees like I'm supposed to? Today is also the first day of my puree diet. Breakfast was rough, lunch and dinner were much better.
  18. Definitely try the Atkins RTD - I've tried 5 different types of protein and this is the only one I've been able to stomach. It's not thick like the others and doesn't leave that nasty after taste either.
  19. Thanks! My Dr wants me to get about 60-80oz in and also has me starting purees today, day 8. I'm doing OK with the purees, its the liquids I'm having issues with. The isopure and other similar consistancies I can handle, its really more the act of drinking so much that's proving difficult. I'm used to drinking a gallon of water a day, but I also used to chug a lot.
  20. Jess - who's doing yours? I got sleeved 1/20 by Dr Kim in Celebration. I haven't found many on this site from our neck of the woods so I'm always curious when I find someone.

    25 Lbs Gone

Hang in there mama, things will get better! Have you thought of going to talk to someone while your son is in school? I know it sounds over-rated but i've been seeing a psychologist for about 6 months pre-op and it really does help to have someone to just vent to if nothing else.

    1Wk Post Op-Severe Pain?

I had my procedure on 1/20 so I'm right with you time-wise. I'm sorry to hear that you're having so many problems! The sharp pain, it's only when you're standing right? Like if you're sitting or laying you don't have it? I had the same thing and went to my Dr yesterday and they said it was my removal site (the incision they removed my stomach through) and that the reason it was sore is because it had to be streched to get the stomach out without cutting a larger hole. Basically that one spot had more trauma than the rest of me and would take another week to heal. As for the rest of your concerns, what did your Dr say about working out? Mine won't clear me for any strenuous activity for another 3 weeks and so far he has only recommended brisk walking. I understand being anxious to see results, but if the cost is your long term health is it really worth it? I would slow down and take it easy while your body is healing - you have the rest of your life to live healthy. Good luck!
