SECRET - SOMETHING YOU TELL ONE PERSON AT A TIME

Now that we are using our credit cards to buy new clothes and all I thought that this information would be helpful. This is probably the most realistic Scam I have read. I will not give anyone any personal information until I am given a phone number to contact to check on the need for them to have the information. But after reading the follwoing I'd have to admitt they may have gotten me on this one. We have to be so careful with our information. PLEASE READ AND PASS ON TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself. Those con artists get more creative every day. ************************************************* The scam works like this: Person calling says, "this is (name) and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card, which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona?" When you say "No", the caller continues with, "Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?" You say "yes". The caller continues - "I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1-800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security. You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6-digit number. "Do you need me to read it again?" Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, "he needs to verify you are in possession of your card". He'll ask you to "turn your card over and look for some numbers". There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read him the 3 numbers. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, "That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?" After you say No, the caller then thanks you and states, "Don't hesitate to call back if you do", and hangs up. You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card. Long story made short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of the conversation. The real VISA told us that they would never ask for anything on the card, as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number you think you're receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost to late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report. What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a "Jason Richardson of MasterCard" with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening. Please pass this on to all your family and friends. By informing each other, we protect each other.

Before banding I lived on diet coke and all then junk I could eat because of the calories I was saving drinking the Diet Coke. I have yet to find anyone here that was more addicted to it then me. I work midnights as a 911 operator for a local public safety department and on my way to work I stop at the 7/11 store and buy a 44oz diet coke. I'd get to work and the officers would be in briefing that last approx 30 minutes. they then get ready to go on the street. Someone would always come up and ask me if I was ready for another Diet Coke and I'd say yes. Sometime more then one would ask and I'd say yes to each one. So I'd get several more 44 ozers in the next hour. The around 3am they have to come in to pick up paperwork and one or two would bring me in anotter 44 ozer. Then at 7am I get off and go home. I don't go to bed till 3 or 4 pm so While I'm up in the morning and early afternoon working around the house I'd drink two 2 litre bottles of Diet Coke before bed. When I was told I had to stop dinking it as part of the band process I almost didn't get banded just because I couldn't break the addiction. But I decide to try figuring the two week liquid diet before hand was a good time to use as a test of my ability to stop drinking this junk. Well I had three straight days of a severe headach from the caffine withdrawal and on the second day almost had my wife take me to hospital due to thinking I was having a stroke from the pain in my head. When it passed on the thrid day I swore that if for some reason I didn't get banded I'd never drink Diet pop or any pop for that matter again. And I have not had a single drop and do not miss it at all.

Personally I think someone should look into the legality of it all. If I was required to obtain a password to get in here to post should that not be protected??? I would think so. Information I put in here that doesn't show to others can be brought up when they click in.

The cancellation of the NHL Season irrates me. And generally what people have to say to me or about me whether it is negative or positive doesn't irrate me. I always feel people have the right to speak thier minds. Then someone here really irrated me by making a very small statement in a post about me and I went into a month longer inner irratation. Now that I remember that they have a right to speak I have gotten over it. So back to jut the NHL being irrating to me. Other then that I am very open about what I have done and how it is going for me. If my friend who finally told me about his had been a little more open with me I'd have been banded sooner. Being so open has resulted in several people I have had contact with looking into the band and having it done. So far not one has regreted it and all are doing well.

I agree with Marie, I'll take the health vs excess skin anyday. But so far I have been very lucky and even though I'll be 55 soon and have been over weight since I was 21 my skin is responding to the slower weight loss and excercise. I believe the only skin problem will be an apron at the belly level. I have no fear of having that removed when it is time.

Sure Marie, You can bypass the temptations of those little stores and enjoy your ride too. Just don't try a New Yor to California with just one??? You'll leave a trail.

All of you who are addict to this site. I have a simple way for you to get over your addiction. Do like me. Take one hour a day off from here then your now addicted anymore. TA DA... Geez so simple I use that hour I'm off fixing a few simple meals and lining up my Water supply for while I'm here. The when that hour is up(just before the shakes start), I can sit down knowing I won't have to get up again. For those of you wondering. Yes its Super absorbant Depends. Coasto has good price on them. Send the wife for them since it would take more then an hour to get there and back. can't be driving when the shakes start. Went to pre surgery conference in April,04 Saw Dr for first appt in May, 04 Had difficulty getting in to see Physic Dr. he was on vacation for a month. When he got back they couldn't fit me in for two months. Got Surgeon to set me up with another Dr and had to wait 3 weeks for that appoint. Saw phyic Dr second week in July. Week later all reports submitted to BC/BS of Michigan and I was called on July 28,2004 and told approaval was in and to go on liquid diet and had surgery Aug 10,2004. Went back to work Aug 13 If I'd been able to see phyic Dr quicky wold have been banded in June.

Well I'm really pissed off now That creep. The demon has been spending time at my house the last week and the whole time she was calling others. Why that two timing S.O.B... Changed the locks on my house and she is out in the cold. No more will I believe her when she whispers in my ear that she loves me and only me. Kick her out of your place Wyld...get her out before she breaks your heart too.
