    Tough Mudder Done!

I am ignorant. What, pray tell, is a "swedish fish" ? All I can picture is you sucking on some pickled herring....

Am I A Rebel Or Just Plain Stupid?

gettinthinner: no, I'm not Canadian but I grew up in upstate NY and I work with quite a few Canadians so I have been "exposed" :-)

Am I A Rebel Or Just Plain Stupid?

I bet you exercise more than you think you do. Being in the islands I would guess that you spend time on the beach and in the ocean. Walking on sand has got to be more strenuous than walking on asphalt. This is an area that I too have to work on. I am not too worried about it and I refuse to force the issue on myself because then I will despise and resent it. Since we're raising two of our grandchildren (aged 7 & 8) and a major goal of mine is being able to play with them, I suspect that soon enough I will be getting enough exercise without having a formal plan or gym membership. Then again, perhaps I am deluding myself and if I don't force myself to sweat and build muscle I will never lose enough weight to be ABLE to play with the kids ! I have to remind myself that if I aim for nothing I'll be sure to hit it. Time to think about exercise, eh ?
  4. yep, it's called "sliming". bleck ! It happens to me when I don't chew something solid well enough or eat too quickly or eat too much. The trick is : chew chew chew and then chew some more, swallow, put utensil down, talk or listen or hum a tune, take another bite, etc. Give yourself a chance to feel full before it's too late (and one bite too much is too late). I don't know what the feeling faint thing is all about but I guess it just goes along with being nauseous.
  5. If the VSG had been available when I was a teenager I would have had it done. Instead, I had to wait until I was a 55 yr old grandmother and had 2 artificial knees and a rebuilt foot and who-knows-what kind of damage from years with high blood pressure. If I had been able to live the past 40 yrs as a fit and trim woman.... Lord only knows what kind of life I would have had. I know that God is in control, so this surgery was meant for me to have done now, at this time in my life. Perhaps this is the time in your life that it is meant to happen? I had considered gastric bypass and lapband but they were both rife with lifelong consequences. Anyhow, enough rambling. Be brave and be healthy and be prepared to be disciplined ! (i.e. no eating pints of ice cream !)

    2 Month Sleeversary!

Kayte: do you mean 1 month out ? You have your surgery date listed as 2/28/12. OK... so you're starting your 2nd month, right ? And, not to be a nit picker (but I am :-) , your surgery weight was 316 and your current weight is 283 which is not 47 lbs. Ah... I get it.... you're speaking words of positive power into your future reality. hehehe.... I am just messing with you. I figure your stats haven't been updated. Congratulations on feeling great and losing weight !

    Nsv- Sorta!

Seems to me that the insurance companies would WANT people to lose weight and get healthy. Or would they? hmm...

    What Did I Do?

I couldn't stand the Protein drinks at all and so I started eating mushies a couple of weeks earlier than advised. I am now 5 weeks out and I can eat just about anything (slowly and in small amounts), As you know, you have to keep hydrated - have you tried some of the crystal lite additives, or even just a squirt of lemon in your Water? My NUT said that I was becoming "protein intolerant" and so I had to force myself to eat as much mushy stuff as I could stand - liverwurst, tuna, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. Can you drink milk ? I certainly wouldn't be concerned about keeping things low fat at this point. You need to eat! What kind of infections did you have? Were you on antibiotics? They can really mess with the flora in your stomach. You may want to make sure you are eating live culture yogurt or take some acidolpholous supplements. I pray that you heal quickly and that your stomach stops being so sensitive.

    Before surgery 2

From the album: day before surgery

It's amazing how much of me there really is! This is my granddaughter Lily. As soon as our noses touched we both got a HUGE static electric shock. hahahaha !
  17. From the album: day before surgery

This was taken the day before I had VSG surgery. My daughter Liberty thought it was a good idea to take some "before" pictures. Note that this is 13 pounds lighter than I was when I started the 2 week pre-op diet.
  18. and that's exactly what I did for my 2 week pre-op diet - Atkins inductive (if it's still called that).

    8 Days Post-Op

Are you still on pain medication ? I didn't start getting the "full" feeling until after I started eating mushies which was a week after I stopped the pain meds. So that would be 2 weeks out (I started mushies much sooner than advised 'cause I really REALLY couldn't stand the protein drinks).

    It Finally Happened.

Glad to hear that you are doing so well. God bless!

    Bad Day Today! Ugh

Deep breath...... exhale.... repeat. Go find some beautiful spring scenes (flowers, ducks, blossoming trees, buzzing bugs, croaking frogs) and think on those things. Better yet, get yourself some fishing gear and find a body of water to soothe away your worries. Be kinder to yourself and your "loser" son :-)
  22. I bought some GenieBra's online. Yes, I know, infomercials are evil and they all lie but gosh, they look so comfortable! So these are a size smaller than I can wear now (the size range is ridiculous - 42AA to 48DDD) but I just had to try one on when they arrived in the mail. hahahahahaha I almost had to call my husband to help me out of it but by golly, I got it on ! So, in maybe another month I'll be able to wear them (and if the size range is correct, for a quite a long while).
