  1. Sorry you went through so much but I am happy you are doing good. If one is defined by the battles they survive you are one strong lady!!
  2. How shocking! I would never fall off the wagon! I am always in perfect control of my diet and never (This post has been aborted by the BS police, this guy has been off the wagon many times, please disregard his bologna)
  3. That's what you want. I am looking slimmer and meaner all the time but I flutter around the 226-230 weight and have been for a month. In the mean time I am stepping up the exercise and putting on gorgeous muscle. If I wasn't married and a heterosexual I would be attracted to me.
  4. I am much less hungry. I still can go food hunting if I don't watch myself but it is not the same kind of desperate scrounging that I used to do. I was hitting the food hard for over 60 years, that itch is still in the brain. My stomach is now an ally that holds me back and wakes me up.
  5. I used to travel around, lost, not asking for directions...no matter what. My wife couldn't understand my knucklehead. It was natural for the stubborn side of my man nature. What is natural is not always what is better. I learned to ask for help. I learned to use google maps and rely on a Garmin, too, after a period of arguing with everything it said. Us humans invent things to help us. It is part of that higher reasoning thing. We figure out work-arounds to problems. That's what WLS is. It may not be as natural and it is not easier but it is a solution and it is effective. In my case, a life saver. Could I have lost over 100 pounds without it? Theoretically yes, practically, highly unlikely.

  7. You are smart for measuring yourself! That's where it really counts.
  8. Of course, if you are really troubled, get help. These sessions appear to me just to be a service for insurance companies to weed out folks who are vulnerable for rejection and, subsequently, savings to boost their bottom line.
  9. That is exactly how to handle it. Remember, Psychs look for weird, so don't be. Tap into your best oatmeal self, young thespian; you're Hepburn, you're Pacino!
  10. I was denied for 2 years of drug abuse and for being a hippy ....in the 60's ...which freaked out the Psych I guess. Clean ever since. No longer a hippy, I'm a Tea Party Republican now. My surgeon was mad, sent a letter right off and got me approved. Some are good but some Psychs need Psychs.
  11. Thanks! We're determined to be that old couple that dresses too young and acts 1/2 our age, annoying the concrete thinkers among the youngsters.
  12. I am not offended at all. I have been wondering about it myself. While considering it tonight I think I figured it out. I went through 45 external beam radiation treatments in 2009 for prostate cancer. I know it weakened my hip muscles, that was evident early on. I believe it weakened my lower stomach muscles as well. As I exercise it is getting better, just very slowly. So my experience may very well not be yours as I believe the soreness is not related to the sleeve.
  13. Thanks, guys and gals! Here is one of me and my Roux N Y wife:
  14. I so identify with you on vacation loses. I do it every time, even just on weekend excursions. My wife thinks it is because I don't snack in between meals. Could be.
  15. Yaaaaaaay, you!!! My yaaays occured when I broke the 20's, (220's). I haven't been there since the 1970's.
  16. Taking time between swallows is something I've done since the beginning. When I first forced the water down I noticed that a small burp occured after each swallow. Now I wait for them before the next bite. They don't always come but I give them time.
  17. How long until I felt good? Pretty much right away. But I am speaking of the help of morphine and later Lortab. Being a child of the 60's I know how to ride the chemicals. As far as getting back to "normal" it hasn't happened yet but that's a good thing in my case. My dear wife helped me for 2 weeks which, of course, I milked for all it was worth. I can't identify with a C-section but this was much easier than my appendectomy that I had at age 13 and about the same as my gall bladder removal that occurred shortly before my sleeving. The soreness in my abdomen can be felt when I do exercise even at 8 months out. I take it easy on push-ups and no crunches.
  18. Go pickle!! ( click picture for pickle dance! )
  19. Prayers for you, Alex.
  20. The sad truth is that smart people are a rarity. Thinking requires effort and is a necessary prelude to knowing what your talking about. Intellectual laziness is the scourge of our population and the vehicle that manipulators rely upon. I would guess that the nurses did no research prior to their inappropriate spoutings. But then, they have the title,"nurse" and therefore feel that they are entitled to sit on the bench judging all things medical. We should not let ourselves be bothered by folks who think being sleeved was an act of laziness. We know better. The real laziness resides in their near dormant brains.
