  1. Wow! Great progress!! Congratulations!
  2. Dylan had it right: In a soldier’s stance, I aimed my hand At the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I’d become my enemy In the instant that I preach ( This was edited out....the Gman from yesterday embarrassed today's Gman with his pretentious bloviating...durn, there I go again)
  3. Everyone reacts differently to those initial days of misery. I laughed at myself for being an idiot and doing this to myself. A few months later I laughed at myself for laughing at myself when I was cleaning out the fat clothes from my closet for the 3rd time.
  4. Fantastic! Who said time travel was impossible?
  5. Ladyglory, I know what you're talking about. I've done the same thing also with cigarettes, alcohol, drugs...and other things. Our bodies have changed but our minds need to re-program. You did good. I talk to my feet, "Get me the heck outa here!"
  6. Before any of you guys get it into your head to take on Lipstick Lady.....don't. She has an underground network of wives and girlfriends that will turn on you at a moments notice at her bidding. You have been warned!
  7. What about my cute little muffins? Men don't get no love?
  8. Awww...shucks! ....ok.....
  9. You brought popularity up as a factor in responses, not me. There is no rank and file system, please don't project your delusions on me. My High School had quite a number of kids who were not rich, beautiful, promiscuous, athletic, or overly intelligent but yet well loved by students and faculty. They achieved it by friendliness and a willingness to serve. If your experience was contrary you have my sympathy.
  10. Here's some more food. You just cast the entire 50,000 plus membership here as spineless sheeple who check the likes leaders before they dare to confront. Did it occur to you that a high likes number could possibly indicate a great deal of caring and support given over an extended period of time? The people I believe you are referring to earned their popularity by answering the same questions with compassion over and over and over. The popular kids in High School many times worked hard to achieve. Then we had the lazy butts like me who would rather criticize and slander than pitch in and help. It is not a matter of popularity, it is a matter of earned respect.
  11. Ahhhh....the appeal of the benevolent dictator. I must admit that I am found of my modified body part as well. He rants and stomps like Hitler on a bad day sometimes but, by golly, he got me healthy and looking good.
  12. Do you guys know that Old McDonald was a bad speller? (Bad jokes can kill threads, I've done it many times...unintentionally)
  13. It'll cost you more than that. Give up the lunch money, kid.
  14. So he should be up by 10 A.M. unless he stays up later after he gets home from work. You could talk to him about his own essential exercise program after he is sleeved and how important it is to set aside time. A lifelong exercise commitment increases the chances of success by a great percentage. In the course of the discussion you could bring up the difficulty you are having. The thing is, the conversation started to be about him, men like things that are about them. My wife has made that clear to me.
  15. I have used chewable vitamins from the beginning and had no problem. I am using Centrum at the present.
  16. Does he have a 3rd shift job?
  17. Jeans trump the scale. Muscle can be up, fat down, and the scale pronounces failure. You are winning.
  18. I didn't contemplate the thread rating changing. I was reading the replies to my wife...a mistake... she said she knew when she heard "bending over" which way it would turn. Now I have to deal with the honeydo list and drop out. Durn females! One track minds!
  19. C'mon Joe, you know you love it. Get some popcorn, mind the butter.
  20. Ya, but you haven't met my mean little wife. Badgers run from her.
  21. The previous posters have nicely summed it up. I look at the sugar content more than the carbs. I eat Pure Protein bars which have 2 G sugar and 24G carbs. They do have 15 G sugar alcohol which to me means don't eat a lot of these or the gas will make you and everyone around you less than happy. I have studied nutrition many years having been a body builder and found the NUT OK but not terrific. They also seldom take into account your activity level. After recovery I put my body on a permanent training regime, determining that I would be a lifelong athlete. I have stuck to that promise to myself and have NO problem keeping fat off. For an athlete, carbs are essential. Fruit is good, vegetables are good, protein is supreme. Sugars are the cutie pies that sneak in but do you little good. If too many show up you have problems. My stomach gets nausea when too much has been taken in. My gastric bypass wife has heart palpitations. That aversion therapy is quite effective. Carbs OK, sugars not. Fruits don't seem to have the same effect when eaten in moderation. Fruits also vary in sugar content.
  22. I have folks on here that hate my guts and folks that love me to pieces. What a surprise, just like the world I live in! I have had run ins with people on here that later became friends. People fight, even "adults". I have been on here for over a year and a half being helped and trying to help. I am quite a wise guy but try to be kind in my humor. I have been tolerated for the most part. I have been attacked at times. Big whoopy. I am not harmed by black and white two dimensional letters on a screen. Now if you come to my house and attempt kick my butt that would be a problem. Stay and see how things develop. Be as nice as possible and see if folks won't warm up to you. You don't have to sacrifice your pride just put your retaliation on pause. Sometimes you find no need of it.
  23. I am Gary Batchelder and I am a man, hence the name GmanBat. Yawn...
  24. ** Warning..old fart reminiscing ** Halloween was such fun when I was a baby boomer kid. Our neighborhoods were kid friendly and minions by the thousands would swarm around for hours. Almost every house had a light on and they had a blast dropping candy off, inviting us in, scaring us, and generally giving the kids a good time. It was almost like Christmas, people enjoyed giving and getting a kick out of the kids. I dressed up as Elvis and carried an old guitar around. I know, not very scary, didn't care..liked Elvis. We didn't take little plastic pumpkins to fill up..we took pillow cases. Between my brothers and I we had enough inventory to start a candy store. We dumped it all in the middle of the living room and our parents marvelled at the mountain we created. Belly aches were a given. We lived through it. It was magic.
