  1. Thanks! In my class yesterday, we were told to eat within 20-30 minutes. It took me around 45 to eat the chilli last night. Today, I ate within 30. I am not allowed to eat soft bread or Pasta in this phase at all. She did say we could have crackers and to be sure to chew well. I only had a couple and don't plan to eat many of them. They're empty calories. Thanks for the info. The recipe sounds delicious! I will try that a little further out.
  2. Thanks! Do you have a date yet?

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Hello to all of my January Sleevers! I had my 3 week post op visit on yesterday and GUESS WHAT?! I'M DOWN 35 POUNDS!!! It's COMPLETELY amazing to me! I can't remember the last time I lost 35 lbs! :clap2: AND yesterday I was able to move to soft foods! OMG! I was so excited! Some of you are so lucky with what you were allowed during the 2-3 weeks post op. I was on strictly liquids! Water, protein shakes, Crystal Light, Propel, dilated clear juice, broth, strained low fat soup, UGH! Now the challenge is actually eating the amount they want me to eat.....

    Male NSV here (possible TMI)

This made me laugh so hard! I actually saw Dr. Oz when he talked about the growth from a man's weight loss. I mentioned it to my husband, who has gained a bit if weight since our marriage, back then. Now that I've read so many first hand experiences, he's getting with the weight loss program ASAP! It's not terrible now, but I remember when it was better! Thank you guys for the laugh and confirmation!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I've posted on a couple of other threads about this. Mine came 1 week after surgery and it was the period from HELL! :mad2: I wouldn't have wished that one on my worst enemy!

    January 2012 Sleevers!

YAY! Sounds like you're doing great! I am three weeks out today and I still have a very dry mouth, especially throughout the night. I have to sip frequently. I go to soft foods tomorrow - words can't express how excited I am! :Banane09: Good luck during your recovery!
  8. LOL! Hilarious! In my pre op group, we were told to decide physically when we felt up to it based on our own bodies. BUT, we were cautioned to keep it simple during the initial 3 weeks. No crazy new positions, no acrobatic moves, no lifting or pulling. My group got a good laugh from this discussion.

    Help! Post-Op Period Gone Crazy!

Someone else posted a similar question earlier this week. I was sleeved on Jan. 10. I had my normal period on Jan. 4. I had an ovarian cyst rupture 4 days after surgery, then another period started 4 days after that! I was just like, "really"?! It lasted for 10 days, just ending 2 days ago. I already had terrible menstrual cycles but this thing was the worst I'd EVER been through. I was relieved to find out I wasn't the only one going through this but wished I would have known it was a possibility before surgery. I would have at least been on the look out for it. I believe the other post was "It's My Period Dummy". Search for it and you'll find other experiences.

Sleeved On Jan 24Th. - Gained Weight

That is awesome! I have a high BMI and a lot to lose so I find myself being anxious. But I can't tell you the last time I've lost over 20 lbs on any program, diet, plan, fad, etc that I've tried in the last 3 years. Keep up the good work! We'll encourage each other.

Sleeved On Jan 24Th. - Gained Weight

Thanks so much! I was actually in a funk all week because the scale didn't move for 6 days! Well actually it went up a lb on one of those days. But, I've had a ton of menstrual issues since surgery, so I'm guessing I was retaining Water. I was pleased to see it go down today. My 3 week follow up is on Wednesday and then I can move to soft foods. YAY! I can't describe how excited I am! If I could still turn cartwheels, I'd do so all the way down my driveway that morning! I wish you a speedy recovery! Rest, follow your doctor's orders, and DON'T experiment! I can't wait to read your updates!

Sleeved On Jan 24Th. - Gained Weight

I agree with everyone. Just to share my experience...I was sleeved on Jan 10. I came home on the 12th and was 8 lbs heavier. The nurses prepared me for that, so I didn't panic. It quickly fell off. I've lost those 8 lbs plus another 24 from my date of surgery weight.

    So Excited!

Congrats Pooh! You should be excited! You're right around the corner! I am 2.5 weeks out from surgery. I am in NC, also. Which surgeon/team are you with?

    Fuze Drinks?

They are and it's probably fine. I've been operating VERY carefully though and haven't strayed from the specific items listed. LOL! Call me paranoid!

    Fuze Drinks?

They were not on my list. I would call your surgeon's office and inquire....

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I feel your pain! I have been having a rough time with the shakes, also. You're so lucky to be able to have eggs! I had to do 3 weeks of liquids. I am SO ready to chew something. I'm not the biggest egg fan, but it sounds like to STEAK to me now! Broccolli sounds like pizza! LOL! 5 more days and then I can move to soft foods. I have been through several different shakes, but I am drinking the Costco Protein Shakes now. They taste a lot better, not as thick. It is getting me through this last week before I can start getting protein from food. It has 30 g of protein in an 11 oz shake. Good luck to you!

    Its Your Period Dummy!

I am also on blood thinner which I think is making it worse. This has made my recovery time awful!

    Its Your Period Dummy!

Ok....so this makes me feel MUCH better! I was sleeved on January 10. My regular period went off the day BEFORE surgery. I was SO glad that it came on before because I couldn't imagine dealing with that during and after surgery with catheter and so forth. Then a couple of days after I came home from the hospital, I went to the ER with terrible pain on my right side. I found out that I had a ruptured ovarian cyst. :blush2: Of all times?! Well the pain continued and I started spotting last Wednesday. The flow has increased every day and I'm STILL bleeding. I wasn't sure if it was just a complication from the cyst, or what. But this is the MOTHER of all periods! I have had severe cramping, clotting, you name it! And my weight loss came to a stand still! I had lost 20 lbs since surgery and then the scale didn't move for 5 days! Today, I was down 2 lbs bringing my total to 22. I am SO ready for this to be over! But I feel better not being the only one with an unexpected cycle.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

Good luck to all who are very newly sleeved and those awaiting upcoming surgeries over the next week! Each day gets better! Tomorrow will be 2 weeks exactly for me and I'm down 20 lbs. I'll be returning to work tomorrow, also.

4 Months Today And 1/2 Way There

Go girl! You look AMAZING! I'm just 13 days post up, but hope I'll have a similar story at 4 months. Rock that sleeve!

  24. Thanks! I'm SO excited! Does your facility mandate pre and post op classes? I have some that are mandated and some are optional support groups. We are encouraged to bring a support person to those groups so they will know how to support you through each stage. I would recommend your husband attend with you if he already hasn't. You'll eventually be able to have those things, but remember, we have to make the most out of the first year after surgery. Weight loss slows at a certain point and you wouldn't want to be sabotaged early on and waste this valuable time. Good luck to you! I hope for a speedy recovery for you.
  25. Thanks! My recovery from the surgery went really smoothly. I had an ovarian cyst rupture a couple of days after I came home. I've been in the ER twice for complications from it. If that would resolve itself, I'd be on easy street. I originally planned to return to work on Jan. 23. We'll see...
