  1. Hey neighbor! I hope to be approved without the 6 months as my insurance supposedly doesn't require it. I have Empire BCBS. Good luck!

    Surgery Recovery Pain?

I am glad to hear this as I cannot take any narcotic pain medication. I had a C section also and thought that recovery was pretty darn painful.
  3. Aw I would be upset too. Heck I get upset already at all these delays and appointments! To finally have your day and it gets taken, ARGH. Good luck!
  4. Mimi77 I am burning with anger for you!!! You are the client and especially with self pay that therapist should not be self promoting! You need to complain. You also need to tell her that you will not be paying for another session as she basically wasted YOUR time. If this is someone your surgeon is referring you to I would also let them know. That is so inappropriate. Seriously, you need to have a conversation with her about this. Bring up the 15 minutes late thing too. Between 15 min. and the 25 min. she spent talking about herself you could have easily been done with your part. How annoying! Good luck and do not let her intimidate you. Remember you are paying her, she is working for you.
  5. I found it on Facebook. Not sure if I'm allowed to link the site but it's called BariatricFoodSource dot com. Looks a little pricey but interesting. Just wondered if anyone has tried their food and if it's any good.

Weight Loss With Or With Out Vsg

I've briefly thought too, why can't I just lose the weight on my own. Especially since I did lose 101 lbs before on my own doing WW and exercising. But my exercise schedule was a LOT. I went to the gym 6 days a week for 1-1 1/2 hrs and ALSO ran 7 nights a week for 2-3 miles. I had to do that to maintain my weight of 165 and a size 10/12 so it's not like I was even a teeny size 2 or 4! Now I have a child and no time to exercise THAT much. I also feel like I need a strong tool like the sleeve to help me. I need that restriction. And all my work at taking the weight off means nothing as it all came back + another 70 pounds. So I think it's good that we ask ourselves these questions before surgery. For me it helps solidify my decision. Good luck tomorrow!
  7. Hi, RN here chiming in. I'm in NY and the nursing programs are just as competitive so I get what you are saying. I would do both for sure especially since your classes are only 2 x a week. I probably wouldn't tell your school ahead of time as you don't want to lose your spot. Congrats on both your upcoming surgery and nursing school. School is tough but one of the best times of my life. My nursing school comrades were awesome. You'll love and hate it!
  8. That IS super frustrating. The whole process is enough to drive someone mad! I hope you get our date soon. Why don't you try actually showing up at the office since no one answers the phone. Then they have to talk to you. Good luck!

    I Have A Leak!

Sorry to hear this and hope your leak heals soon!
  10. Congrats to those of you having surgery tomorrow! I'm jealous

    Ugh! Stupid Evaluation!

What absolute BS. I'm in recovery, been clean almost 6 years and I told my surgeon this right off. He congratulated me! Said that was an accomplishment and good for me. The dietician did suggest that I have extra support after the surgery but to deny someone for drug use 40 years ago is crazy. OP, good for you! Some of these prices for evals are ridiculous. There is always a better deal to be found and glad you got one.

    Got My Date W0Ot Wo0T! +Intro

Congrats! Love your username I am also hoping desperately to get a Feb. date.
  13. How are these Protein shots? I am just browsing and starting to look for Protein drinks in anticipation of my surgery next month and I saw these two. Sunkist protein in 3 flavors and Protica Proasis in several flavors also. Both about 25 gms of protein in 3 oz. They seem to come in fruit flavors. Not sure about the calories but Sunkist has 0 carbs. Anyone try these?
  14. I agree they made the mistake in telling you they took the insurance and taking the copay. However, I do check my insurance website to make sure the doctor is in network.
  15. I'm just wondering what everyone had to pay out of pocket or if insurance covered or what. The hospital I decided has their own dietician for the program and a psychologist they recommend patients to. NEITHER of them take any insurance at all and each charge $175. I'm a bit annoyed over this. Of course I am going to do it because I have to and it is for my health. It's just frustrating as money is really tight right now. So just wanted to know if this is the norm. If it is then I won't be quite as annoyed lol.
  16. Lawrence is a wonderful hospital. I actually went to an info session there several years ago when I had a lot less to lose and was seriously considering the band. I'm glad I didn't get the band though.

    Using Straws

I am glad to see that straws are not necessarily a complete no-no. I always use a straw cup and have for many years. I have teeth that are sensitive to cold and it would hurt a bit to not have my straws!
  18. So just to update, I found out that as long as I get detailed receipts from both providers I can submit to my insurance and have 80% refunded to me. They do ask for provider's name, tax ID, my dx. code, procedure code, and some other basic stuff to be on the receipt. Even if I just get back the $ for one of them I'll be happy!
  19. I remember your other post, so glad you found a cheaper alternative. I am seeing the Psych in 10 days so I'm with you, I want to know what to say not to screw it up! I'm sure you'll do fine.
  20. I am still pre-op, hopefully having my surgery next month. I am having it at White Plains Hospital. It's a small program but I'm satisfied. I also looked at Montefiore and Northern Westchester too. Where did you have yours done?
  21. I'm just reading this now and so glad you are feeling better! Also I'm your neighbor as I live in the same city you do :biggrin2: I do hope you continue to feel great and wish you all the success in the world.

    I *think* I'm Covered! Bcbs

Congrats! I was initially going to go to Dr. Roslin, he has a good reputation. But then my insurance changed a bit so I decided to stick a little closer to home as it may be a bit cheaper for me to do so. I am going to Dr. Weber at White Plains Hospital. It's a small program but I like him a lot. Also my surgery should happen quickly too, I'm hoping by the end of next month. I have nothing to plan around except work so I can do it anytime really. I can't wait!
  23. I can only imagine! People like this though SHOULD be denied, at least initially. How could anyone jump to surgery if they haven't tried portion control and educating themselves on nutrition? That is just baffling to me. I do understand the necessity of meeting with both the nutritionist and psychologist though it is more necessary for some than others. I even see some posts from post op people saying what/how much they eat and it worries me to be honest. I think some aftercare might be a good thing too. For me, I am going to pursue some therapy for a while to address my emotional eating issues. I want to give myself the best chance at success. But I still know better than to want to run out and eat Chinese or pizza after surgery!
  24. Ha! I know what you mean. But it's also a liability issue I would imagine. I'd also guess that there are some people that get the surgery without doing a whole lot of research.
