  1. I worked up the nerve to call my insurance company and just ASK. YES, the VSG is covered as long as it is a "medical necessity" and not for cosmetic reasons. That's it. They said the doctor just has to document the necessity. I didn't want to jinx myself and ask about the 6 month supervised diet so I asked if there were any other restrictions or documentation they needed and they said no. Oh how I hope this is true! I have Empire BCBS in NY.
  2. Yes I'm nuts for wanting another baby at my "advanced maternal age", blah. But just wondering if this has happened to you older mamas? My DS keeps asking for a little brother and it breaks my heart!
  3. Haven't popped in this forum in a while... I am now 8 months out from surgery and have lost 150 lbs! I am only 15 lbs from goal so we are definitely TTC. Hoping it happens naturally! Congrats to all the pregnant Sleevers!
  4. Cograts Andi! My thoughts are with you though I am sure all will be well. Thank you all for your responses.I am now 6 months out and have lost 112 lbs. I have about 50 lbs to go to hit goal but I actually wouldn't be upset if I got pregnant before hitting goal.
  5. Talk to a high risk OB before stopping any meds. Stopping either the Cymbalta or Oxy suddenly could actually be dangerous for you and the baby. Many women take opiate pain meds throughout pregnancy if absolutely needed. The baby will just have to be monitored for a few days. Congrats!
  6. Thanks again Cheri. Funny you posted what you did because this month I am using Fertility Friend(BBT), OPKs , AND the Clearblue fertiltiy monitor! I want to try and get a handle on things and see where I'm at before getting pg. Funny thing is that I have a long history with my ex H of infertility issues. But with my DH now as soon as I lost 100 lbs (back in 2007) I got pregnant. So I'm hoping that losing this weight will do the trick. Thanks again for your input! Thanks so much and good luck with your Sleeve!
  7. Thanks Cheri, I didn't realize obesity help had a pg forum, going to check it out. I have noticed that my cycles are becoming MUCH more regular as I had months of no period when I was at my heaviest. So that is a good thing!
  8. My surgeon? No it has not been discussed as I don't plan on getting pregnant right away, I'm only 4 months post op. I'd like to get to goal first or close to it. Maybe by the end of the year.
  9. Well ladies it looks like I will have to hurry up and get preggers so I can say YES that it does happen, lol! I've just heard so many stories of pregnancy happening after WLS but maybe they're all young chicks?

    Stalling!

This sounds like what may be happening to me, ugh. I'm almost 2 weeks out and haven't lost anything for the past few days. I initially lost 21 lbs, GAINED 1 and now stalled. Way too soon!

    Panicking... Help Please

    At 6 months out I wouldn't worry.
  12. See this is surprising to me. I am not on pain meds and 4 days out. I don't feel comfortable driving just yet due to the weakness. I could drive if I had to but I would like to feel a bit stronger first.
  13. Love this thread! I want skinny jeans with bling bling for sure. I also want a REAL bathing suit, maybe a tankini for starters. Right now I wear swim shorts with my maternity bathing top, ugh. I love clothes and can't wait to feel cute again.
  14. Another 3/15 sleever here. I'm lucky in that my pain isn't so bad at all but I just feel crapola. I think that we need to remember to rest also sometimes. Yes, walking is good for lots of things but try not to overdo it and nap when you feel tired. I swear I am having the best sleep!

4 Days Post Op - Help!

I so need to read these posts saying it gets better. I am so doggone tired and only getting about 30 oz in at 3 days post op. I can't imagine anyone walking a mile!
  16. I was just sleeved a few days ago and I have an active 3 yr old. My husband is taking off work for a few days but he has to go to school tomorrow so it will be just me and my son. I am super tired most of the day and need to take a couple of naps too. It's better if you have help 100% of the time but life does not always make that possible. Just do what you can and try to keep things low key for the little ones!
  17. Congrats on your date! I think that you have to figure out what things you're going to eat after in regards to buying a blender or not. Protein shakes don't necessarily need a blender but I recommend getting a shaker cup at least (Amazon has them for like $6). What kind of food will you eat for the pureed/mushies stage? For me, I already have a blender and recently bought a food processor too. I like my shakes in the blender because I like to add fruit and stuff to them. I'm going to use the food processor for pureeing some of my food as I dont want to do so much work! But you have to do what works for you.

    Wtf?

I'm sorry OP that really stinks. Being that they took your copay it seems as they will bill for the visit. Make sure when you get your EOB that they did not bill for you seeing the doctor because you didn't! Don't even know how they can bill for you seeing the nurse or medical assistant.
  19. I really empathize with you OP. I think you may be in the beginning stages of the grieving process. Yes, griving the loss of your relationship with food. It's common but usually happens after surgery. I think many of us have depended on food, ciggies, glass of wine for a long time and it is hard to give up those things! I stopped smoking a year ago and stopped drinking 6 years ago. I still sometimes want to relax with a beer and a smoke. But you are right in thinking about getting a new healthy habit to occupy that time. I'm going to have to do that as well (also rolling my eyes). But it's for the best right? Hang in there.

    Can't Stop Crying...

    Aw, you will do great!
  21. I have a clotting disorder. It has been managed very well and besides my meds, no real interruption to my life. But it makes all the doctors super conservative when dealing with me. I understand why but come on already! I have a stress test tomorrow and then Thursday is my pre-op medical clearance appt. for the chest x ray, ekg, bloodwork, etc. My primary Dr. called me a little while ago to say that my cardiologist wants me to have an ultrasound of my calves and I need this done BEFORE Thursday of this week! Basically she is not going to clear me for surgery without this. So I asked her how am I going to get this done before 2 pm on Thursday??? First she was like " I don't know" and I was ready to explode. Then I guess she thought for a minute and said that SHE will call the ultrasound dept. and tell them I need to be seen asap. She's trying to get me seen right after my stress test tomorrow. Then she'll call me and let me know the deal. So now I have to be on pins and needles waiting for her call. AAARRRGGGHHH. I think I will really lose it if this causes my surgery to be put off. I really, really will lose it. I have my time scheduled off work and so does my husband. Everything is all set. I have to think +++ and try to be zen about it but it's hard.

    Nervous

My date is the 15th and I am also getting nervous! I haven't had general anesth. in a long, long time and I am so apprehensive about it. I also have a young son and he needs me! But we will both be fine!

    Orientation!

Mine is in my siggy. Basically I first saw the surgeon on 1/10 and I am having surgery 3/15. I was actually done with my pre-op appointments the first week of Feb. I know my journey has been quick compared to others.
  24. Oh I hope my hospital uses these! I can not take any narcs at all after surgery so this would be great.
