Welcome to the diet that really works! Congrats on your weight loss.

Talk about a New Years Resolution done right. Way to go! :Banane57:

I'm sure it will go smoothly since gallbladder removal is extremely common and is can be done laproscopically.

Good for you!! :cheers2:

This is so sad. I feel really sorry that this happened to that poor woman, right after she retired too. I wanted to get the band when I came in for my consultation but they convinced me that it would not be a good choice. Even the lady right next to me as I was waiting for surgery was getting a revision to a sleeve from a band. She was extremely obese so the band had done nothing for her.

My doctor says that Tylenol products are the best for sleeve so I'd go with them. He says the other medications will irritate it.

I heard of people using spandex sleeves on their arms and belly to avoid the loose skin. I don't know if that works or not. I been using coco butter to help keep my body mosturized.

Use a tape measure to see results if you are lifting weights or doing other exercise. You may be gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat. A pound of feathers has more mass than a pound of concrete. Same goes with fat and muscle.

I live in Arlington, TX and was sleeved by Dr. Wade Barker. I guess it is the same with him as it is with Dr. Kim and Dr. Stewart. I did not see him for my consultation, there was another Dr. there instead. The only two times I've interracted with him was a minute before surgery and then a 2 week follow up for like 10 minutes. He acted like he had met me before when he hadn't. LOL! He has such a big staff since he operates two offices, one in Forst Park Medical Pavillion and one in Amarillo. I would have liked to talk with him more but his staff makes up for it. They are really informative and are sweet people.

I don't see any reason why you can't do it right away. I sure did.

You look so much more young and handsome. I laughed at the family picture! How silly to be able to fit them in your old belt.

My surgeon said that 2% of his patients develop the leaks. I haven't got a leak myself. It is rare but does happen. Most of the time it is the patient's fault because they do not adhere to the dietary guidelines.

What great tips. I live in Dallas too so will be checking out "Larger Than Life". I'm a clothes snob so feel icky if I wear someone else's used clothes. I really need to get over that. I've spent thousands at plus size shops Avenue, Catherines, Fashion Bug, Torrid and Lane Bryant. I even have credit cards for all of them. Most do not fit me very good now so a resale shop is where I should sell them at. How do those shops work? Do they give you money for the clothes or let you trade them?

Wow way to go everyone! I'm walking or going to the gym almost every day so I hope to reach my goal by this time next year.

Have you been exercising? Even simple walking for 20 minutes a day helps speed things along.

Make sure your cough medicine is Tylenol or generic since my doctor says the other kinds irritate your sleeve. I developed a cough and runny nose during the week so been taking Tylenol cold and flu medicine. Make sure to ask your doctor about the problem you are experiencing with your reflux and cold medicine interaction.

Yes, if you get it done laproscopically then it is no trouble at all to care for yourself. I did feel very dizzy when I got out of bed so had to sit down where I was standing immediately. My stomach was really sore so the pain medication helped quite a bit. I kept it in the fridge so it tasted much better and even started thinking of it as a sugary treat. I had the surgery on Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday. I have a sit down office job so the doctor approved the quick transition.
The smell of food did make me sad because I knew I couldn't eat it but never made me feel sick.

Yes in the letter my PCP wrote it listed out my prior weight loss attempts. You should have him make another letter saying all the diet drinks and such that you have tried.

This is so true. I now wake up and hope that my fat legs look leaner instead of just sigh and accept it won't get any better.

I was on the HCG diet for a month as well and lost 30 lbs, only to gain it all back. It was a diet for me so I thought of it as a temporary change when I should have adopted a lifestyle change. Diets don't work at all for people in the long term, only lifestyle changes. I think you stuck to the diet because you thought of it as a diet, only a temporary change. When you stopped dieting, you may have over ate once again. I personally think over eating is the same as addiction since you can't stop yourself!
I used to eat until I felt full because I loved the feeling so much. It made me feel safe and secure to have a warm tummy filled with food. Getting this surgery forced me to change how I ate and not go back to my old ways.

I've lost 40+ counting the 1 week pre-op liquid diet! My starting weight was 300 lbs and now I am 260. It has been a little over a month since my Dec 6th surgery date.
