Oh, I hope there's instant relief when it comes out! Mine has been so freaking sore yesterday and today.

Mine is coming out tomorrow, day 8 after surgery. I'll report back on pain!

Do you mind if I ask what your BMI is? There's a big difference between pregnancy with a BMI in the 40s and a BMI above 50.
My starting weight with all three of my kids was 260 - at 5'5", that's a BMI of 43.3, and I also had no co-morbidities. I had perfectly healthy pregnancies and perfectly healthy kids with all 3. With my first son, I was borderline GD, but I monitored my blood glucose levels for about a month and they were fine, even without making major changes to my diet. They were all born at healthy weights - 8-4, 8-3, and 9-2. My husband and I were 8-14 and 9-10 when born, so that was about where they'd have been anyway regardless of any GD issues.
I did have 2 miscarriages and some fertility issues between 1 and 2, but after testing I found out that I have a blood clotting disorder called MTHFR that was probably the culprit. I got pregnant pretty quickly and easily with 1 and 3.
After all that blah blah blah, I say to go for babies now, surgery later. If your doctor is telling you that your fertile time may be running out, listen to him. Surgery will still be there in a few years - your fertility may not.

I'm not even sure if I could tolerate Isopure at this point. I'm really sensitive to tastes and the power of suggestion, and there are too many people here who call it Isopuke. Blech.

My surgeon said the same thing - just worry about staying hydrated the first week. I'm having problems just with that, I don't know what I would do if I had to get Protein in as well.

I couldn't handle being on clears for longer than a week. I'm 4 days out and STARVING. I probably haven't eaten more than 300 calories since the night before my surgery. I can't tolerate any of the clear Protein Drinks, and can only tolerate a little chicken broth. Other than that I've just been eating popsicles and drinking Crystal Light and Gatorade.

I can shower with my drain too! One benefit to having ridiculously saggy boobs - I was able to tuck the bulb up under my boob while I washed. LOL

3 days post-op here as well - things are going OK so far. Lots of gas, and my incisions are itching like crazy! Other than gas, though, the pain isn't bad at all. I'm having a hard time getting all my liquids in, not to mention Protein. My surgeon said not to concern myself with the protein so much, though - liquids are more important.

Today was Day 4 and it was by far the hardest so far. I kept seeing food EVERYWHERE. Ugh. My diet is 5 Carnation Instant Breakfast No Sugar Added shakes, unlimited Clear liquids, and 200 calories of fruits/veg. So far I've "cheated" twice with lean meat but my surgeon said that lean meat occasionally is OK.
I think I read somewhere that days 3-4 are the worst, and then it gets better - I hope that's true! Only 6 days to go!

I'm July 10th as well! Started my pre-op diet today and so far, so good!

Had my H.pylori breath test this morning. That was NASTY. They told me it wasn't bad tasting at all - they lied. LOL
Tomorrow is my Upper GI, EKG, bloodwork, and meeting with the anesthesiologist. Then 12:01 Saturday morning starts my liquid diet!

I only slept with mine for a couple of weeks - wasn't a big fan of having it on my wrist.

I've been working on exercising - at least 30 min. a day. So far so good! Although yesterday I did EA Sports Active for the first time - I set it on Medium intensity. BIG mistake. I made it through (though I couldn't do the reverse crunches) but I am HURTING today. Tomorrow I'm changing it to Easy intensity and praying to god there are no reverse crunches.

Hi everyone! My name is Lacie, and I'm 30 years old. My husband is Shawn, and we've been married for 8.5 years. We have 3 boys, ages 6, 4, and 1. I am a stay at home mom, but I'm also back in school for nursing. Life as a college student mom to three active boys is crazy but I wouldn't change a thing except my weight! My surgery is in 3 weeks and I can't wait to be the healthy active mom my family deserves.

Love my Fitbit! A few of my friends also have them and we can see each others' step count for the day - it's good motivation to not slack off!

I got one of those Pretty Pushers gowns when I had my last baby, and it was much, much more comfortable than a hospital gown. Not sure how well it would work for this surgery, but it worked very well with the monitors, IV, and epidural tubing. I think I had a catheter, too - don't remember exactly because I only had the epidural for 3 hours before he was born.

Hi Amy! You have my dream job. I'm in nursing school right now, hoping to do L&D after I graduate. Good luck!

Didn't even notice that this thread was older. Hate when that happens! LOL Good luck tomorrow! (Well, today, seeing as it's after midnight!)

It's so awesome that your surgeon is supportive of you continuing to breastfeed. When I had my first consult, my son was 8 months and I was nursing almost exclusively. He told me that he wouldn't do the surgery until I weaned. I'd planned to wait for summer to do the surgery because of school, so I figured at least I'd get to a year. Well, at 10 months my son decided that all he wanted to do with my nipples was chew on them (he had 6 teeth!) and after almost a week of every feeding consisting of using me as a chew toy rather than actually drinking, I cut him off. I wish it hadn't stopped so early/abruptly, but I suppose it was a blessing in disguise since I don't have to worry about weaning for surgery now.
Anyway, blah blah blah. LOL Good for you for sticking with it! I would echo the previous posters who recommended building as big a freezer stash as you can now - that way if your supply does go way down, you'll have milk for him for a while longer.

Was it bright red? I bet it was from the Crystal Light. Generally if you are bleeding in your stomach/intestines it will be darker.
