    Today Is The Day

Good luck .. waiting to see the new you
  3. I hope you feel better. Sometimes gas rises up to your chest and will cause major discomformt .. i know this for a fact because my cousin had the exact same symptoms .. so yes it is normal and it will go away. I strongly recommend you walk longer and more frequently to help with this pain. You are still only 3 days out and everyone deals with the outcome of the surgery differently. Never eat and drink at the same time because it will cause you severe discomfort. Don't worry all the pain will go away and you will be having NSV's which will make you glad you've done the surgery Good luck !

    Pizza Pizza!

Absolutely normal Enjoy your journey as Lissa said. We ALL surrender to our cravings every now and then but the key thing here is not to make a habit out of it .. and that's why we are all here now to break our bad food habits Good luck
  5. Its worth every single second of it People talk about the surgery being "life changing" and its very true .. People talk about how happy they are because they are achieving NSV's which is really cool too.. But you need to know that VSG is also a "life saving" procedure. I was on the verge of being a diabetic and have major heart disease but all of that disappeared with VSG. Good luck

    Super Saturday Weigh In

I am currently 5 months out and just broke a two week stall .. again ! I have dropped 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks and i am really happy and grateful for that No matter how much weight you lose it's still weight lost! Good luck people
  7. I want to make something very clear before i start. This is just a one day test .. a test to see what my sleeve can and can't handle at 16 weeks. I do not condone anything of what i am about to share. This is a test and should be used only as a source of information. I am doing this so you won't have to! So at 16 weeks out i want to see what my sleeve aka "Bananaman" can handle in terms of type and amount of food. Two tests: Sodas and fast food ** NOTE: My findings are short and to the point ... If you would like more details about each test please send me a private message and i would be very happy to share it with you. Test 1: Sodas I had three 330 ml diet cokes throughout the day. Of course i could only drink about a third each time before feeling full. Verdict: It was not uncomfortable. On each try the soda went down fine and stayed there. It felt "fizzy" on the way down but after a few seconds it was okay. It tasted a lot sweeter than it used too before VSG and that to me was a big turn off. Although it was fine on the sleeve i'm not going to want to have anymore. This finding was based on Diet Coke. Other brands and flavours could have a different outcome. Test 2: Fast food- McDonald's chicken McNuggets + KFC + Burger King's Junior Whopper At about 2pm i had some chicken McNuggets. Verdict: I could only eat four pieces with BBQ sauce. I was surprised because it felt normal like any other day only quantity was effected here. I didn't have trouble swallowing the chicken or acidity issues with the BBQ sauce. At 5pm i had KFC. I ordered a dinner Box (three pieces of regular chicken). Verdict: Horrible! The worst feeling ever! I couldn't finish one piece. It was oily and i had major acid re-fluxes! The food wouldn't stay down and had slime for about 15 mins after eating. At 8pm it was time for Junior Whopper from BK. Obviously, to try and make this test as realistic as possible for sleevers i had to remove the bread on top but left everything else on it. Verdict: Couldn't stand it. It was so heavy i couldn't keep it down. I was full from the first bite and it took me ages to chew. It really wasn't pleasant at and as with KFC i also had acidity issues and slime. I know there is a ton of information and many testimonials on this forum about the information i just shared with you but i just wanted to contribute my personal experience. Many members might say "you shouldn't have done this test" or "why put your sleeve through all this .. not worth it" etc... Well they are right but i think it is well worth it if it could help people answer their questions.
  8. Good job ! I know its an incredible feeling! You have actually achieved a scale and a NSV!

    Tell Me I'm Not Crazy

Foxbins could not have said it any better ! Its a life changing procedure. I'm loving my new life and self esteem is just incredible.
  11. Very strange that your doctor should say that. You can or should start introducing Protein liquids into your diet at about 2 weeks post op. If you look at food & Nutrition and Pre-op and Post-op Diets sections in the forum you will find many posts on types of Protein drinks and supplements. Hope this helps. Good luck

    Super Saturday Weigh In

Hello ! I weighed in at 172 that's down 3 pounds from March 12 ! I lost a total of 88 pounds since November 21 !! My target weight is 165 .. just 7 pounds away ! Very happy and i hope everyone sees results they are looking and hoping for ! Good luck everyone
  13. Good for you!! Thats great NSV's are such a motivational force for both Pre-ops and Post-ops ... Thanks for sharing!
  14. The sleeve is not only about losing weight, its about changing your bad eating habits, the habits that got you here in the first place. The surgery solves only half of the problem. The other half lies with your attitude towards your new stomach and sticking to a healthy diet plan. Otherwise why do the surgery at all? Good luck

    Dreams To Reality!

Very simply .. Do it! You will not regret it. Age is totally irrelevant when it comes to fulfilling your dreams. You are never too old or young for this surgery Good luck
  17. Don't worry about it This is perfectly normal. You're hit with a stall because your system is adjusting to the new diet. I recommend you do more than just having a personal trainer twice a week. I really urge you to join a gym and work on your cardio burning at least 500 calories a day and start light weight lifting. Feeling hungrier is a good sign because your system is telling you to provide more food and this will in turn kick start your metabolism and start burning off fat again. Also try switching food types that also helps a lot with breaking a stall. Good luck

    Just Had Surgery!

You're at the right place if you are looking for support. I'm sorry you had to endure all that but unfortunately for some sleevers it gets worse before it gets better. Hang in there and i'm sure you'll feel better soon
  19. A stationary bike gets results however you need to do more than that to preserve your muscle mass which in turn will help you avoid excess/loose skin. Good luck
  20. First of all i agree with Abacoraveness you have to get the all clear from your doctor. I started to walk 5 miles a day about 2 weeks out. After 4 weeks i was covering 10 miles holding very light dumbells (5lbs each). Week 5 is when i really hit high gear. I joined a gym and did serious cardio and light weight lifting. To get the best cardio results make sure you have adequate resistance. You have to make it a very challenging workout and burn at least 500 calories each time you're on the treadmill. As for weight lifting make sure its light reps nothing too serious. Have a Protein shake in the morning on your way to work and another one right after working out. Sticking to your diet plan is a must. Stay away from carbs and focus on protein. This is what worked for me but every body deals with weight loss differently. I hope this helps with your VSG journey:) Good luck
  21. Conrats on the amazing weight loss so far Yes you are perfectly on track here .. however i urge you to do some excersises to maintain your muscle mass. In general weight loss tends to slow down after 8-10 weeks. Excersising regularly can help shed off weight and even break a stall. Good luck

    What Next?

Sorry to hear about your daughter i hope she feels well soon. I'm also hoping everything will be okay by the time you leave to Mexico. I don't think you will be away for too long though 5 - 7 days is probably how long youwill be gone for. So i'm sure your daughter will be in safe hands when you're not there All the best

    Food...

I had mashed potatoes too at about 4 weeks out. They taste MUCH better than my pre op days! Wonder why?
