My surgery is on 02-20, 12 days to go!! I am on day 2 of the pre-op diet. Suddenly over the past couple days my brain has shifted gears. I am alllll about living healthy, eating right, and exercise! I think I could get used to this. I just wanted to say hello to all of the 100 plus'ers! I cannot wait to join you

Hi MissMeow I do not mean to repeat what the others have said, but I too could have written your original post not so long ago, except my weight started to pack on after I had my daughter when I was 19. I have bounced up and down the scale ever since. Many times I had lost 50-70 lbs, and slowly but surely the lbs came back plus some. I started on my WSL journey seeking lapband, but my surgeon recommended VSG because of my age (I am 35 also). He said I am far too young to live with a device inside of me, and the longer it is in, the more chance I would have of something going wrong. I then started reading a lot of blogs and message boards for all surgeries, and the sleevers sounded FAR more happy then the banders. I have also learned along the way that 'just fat' is a disease. It is not yet accepted that way by society, however, obeisity is a disease that can be treated. If my doctor told me that I have a disease that could potentially cut my life short by 20 years I would definately go under the knife if it would prolong my life and prevent other diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, etc. So, I am having my surgery on 02-20-2012... Sometimes for quality of life, we have to have faith, and take educated chances. For a better quality of life with my kiddos, I am going for it!! I hope you find some answers to help you make a decision. Everyone on this board is super willing to offer advice, and share thier experience. Good Luck

Hey! My first yoga class was on Wednesday night! I took my 267 lb @ss to yoga class with my tiny 16 year old daughter (first time for both of us), and it was amazing! I am still a little sore from stretching muscles I never knew existed, but I loved it! Can't wait for next Wednesday to get here. I can foresee this becoming my new healthy addiction For those who have not tried it: do not be discouraged if you don't know a thing about yoga, or end up in a class with a non-instructive instructor. Go at your own pace. Stop if you need to stop. Its okay!

Oh man! Sorry to hear that my surgery was pushed back once. I was bummed, but luckily I had not started the diet yet. I hope time flys for you!

My Dr. Office called today to reschedule my surgery... pushed back a week to 2/20. After the past year of jumping through hoops, it is less then a month away, so I should still be happy...right? (<---that is my fake smile.)

You are almost there! The only trouble I ran into is that my PCP lagged in getting the testing sent over, and so did the psych dr. It was all around the holidays so I wasn't too worried about it. But I did call and bug them until it was done. I also called Dr Muellers office once a week to follow up with Leti (she is now gone, so it is Monique) to confirm that she received the proper paperwork.... and I don't mind the questions

I have Aetna... they required 6 months of nutritionist visits. So, I saw Laura from Dr Mueller's office. Once I was done with that I met with Dr Mueller for consult and got all of the test requirements that I had to bring to my PCP, Xrays, and Phsych evaluation. The day the last of the required tests results were received by Dr Muellers office they sumitted for insurance approval. In less then 48 hours I was approved! The same day I was approved I got my surgery date!!!

M2G! I was thinking the same thing when I typed it out! lol! 3 shoooort weeks left!

Thanks for the tips everyone I went ahead and ordered the BA brand products, mostly for convienience and it IS what the doctor 'ordered' I suppose... As time progresses I will find vitamins at my local store that I like to replace those. Thanks again

My surgeons office 'requires' us to purchase the Bariatric Advantage protien mixes and vitamins for the pre-op diet. I am okay with buying the mix, but the vitamins are super expensive. Does it really make a difference what brand a multi-vit, calcium, and B12 are?

Congrats! Welcome to the 'approved' list I am soooooooo exctived for everyone getting sleeved in the upcoming weeks (including me!! Yay!!)... It is unbelieveable how supportive and informative this message board has been I can't wait to share before and after pics!!

WoooooHoooooo! My paper work was submitted and I got my approval in less than 48 hours! (Plus the months and months of pre-op stuff, of corse!) I am so excited My surgeon will be my 'Valentine' this year
