    5 Days Post Op

Hi srhame!! I was sleeved on the 20th too! Congrats us! I had a rough start, came home yesterday. I am a self proclaimed 'Foodie'. I LOVE food. While I have never doubted that my sleeve was the right thing for me. The entire time I was in the hospital I had Food Network on, like I cannot get enough of it! My nurses and family and friends thought I was torturing myself, but I love all things food... I went to the grocery store for the first time post-op today and kinda felt 'hungry', which I know I am not. Its comfort... Anyways, my bff lives with me, and luckily she is sensitive to my new eating situation. She actually started Weight Watchers a couple weeks ago (does not have nearly as much to lose as me) It might seem silly, but we started a little log of food/recipes I want to try in the future and what healthy substitutes we can make. While right now it seems difficult and at moments unbarable, we must let the moment pass, and remember that the time will come when we are all healed and we will be able to eat yummy (but healthy) food again! xoxo sabrina.
  2. 1. What happens to the stomach staples? 2. What is the average healing time? Like when the stomach is completely sealed and healed? I am 100% sure I have asked my surgeon these questions, but I am completely blank! Lol! Thanks! Sabrina
  3. Hey June! For both answers that is exactly what I thought. They stay forever, and 3-6 weeks, but as I was talking to my friend last night it seemed wrong? Lol! Forever? 3-6 weeks? Seems like that is not long enough! I started questioning my facts...? (This is normal with me though. Lol!) Thanks!

    Shin Splints

I have terrible shin splits! Even a few minutes on a treadmill kills my lower legs! I have found something that helps tramendously though. So much so that I get excited to talk about them, ChoPats. www.cho-pat.com. Search for 'shin'. I am not sure if everyone can use them (they are compression stocking type things). Totally worth a try! Good luck!
  5. I finally got to come home! Yay! Thank you all for your kind words and prayers over the last week. It made sittng in the hospital bed at 2 in the morning a little easier :') I am wondering now, if any of you have tricks to taking tablets? I am scared to swallow them! I didn't realize until last night that I totally forgot to take my 'happy pill' since Sunday (night before surgery, and I have terrible social anxiety so I need to get it going), and I am also staring at this bottle of Pepcid wondering how I will down it...? All of my Vitamins are chewable, but for solid pills do you just go for it, mash them, chew em?? Thanks! Sabrina.
  6. Third night in the hospital, and things are slowly getting better. I can finally hold down water! Yay! But is hurts like a m&*%$# f$!* ... pardon my french. My surgeon has ordered some test to check for blockage, to be done in the morning... I guess I just need assurance that this DOES get better. I want to go home! I am thankful that they are being precautious... I just miss my kiddos, and my bed! Thank you all for your help. I am not sure what I would do without this forum. xoxo.
  7. Glad you are feeling better DFD!! Me too! Well 'better' as in enough to escape the hospital! I just had the best nap in my own bed ahhhhh!
  8. Hey Melly! I was sleeved on Monday, so I am certainly no pro, but I have the same problem! I figured out that for me it is colder water that is a killer for me. It almost feels like my stomach has a muscle spasm. Until yesterday I would barf every single time... I tried warm water last night and it has been great!! So much easier! If you haven't tried maybe warm it up keep in touch! I'd love to share experiences! Sabrina

    Tricks To Taking Pills?

Thanks Iowa! I should have included that there is nothing special (caps, time released, etc) about my tablets. I will definately try the jello trick! good idea!
  10. So I am officially sleeved! Had surgery on Monday, and I was supposed to go home yesterday, but I was so nauseous I couldn't even hold down an ice chip So, they kept me here. I am grateful that the surgeon is cautious, but I wanna go home!

    Yoga

Bare foot is the best way to do yoga, but socks are okay too it seems easier to balance and less slippery if I am barefoot. Most gyms have mats that you can use, at least at the beginning. Once you know that you will continue, or if you are simply grossed out by the provided mats, you can bring you own. Lol! A towel (for sweat and stretching) and a bottle of water... after a couple classes you may find that yoga blocks are helpful (they make it easier to reach the ground, keep you off the ground, etc. At the beginning I just watched what other people were doing and the tools they used and figured out what helped me best. But simply it is me my mat, towel, bottle of water and patience! (oh, and yoga pants, or sweats work best. Shorts will ride and be uncomfortable if ya know what I mean!)

    I love this pic!! Congrats!
  15. Wishing you all the best!! Yay us!! Happy New Sleeve!!
  16. I was not trying to offend anyone that chooses to tell people 'other' reasons... I am just sad for those that have to go there. The first time I told my family and friends I felt so free. And part of the process was admitting my weight to them. I have never felt better, mentally. Now to get the physical part taken care of yay!!
  17. I am certainly not saying one way or the other is correct. For each person it is a personal decision whether or not to tell someone. I was just asking to see if I was being to open with those in my life. My Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Bestfriend are the closest people to me and all four of them have tried to convince me not to do it... I am also a firm believer in Christ and have had friends from church tell me that I shouldn't do it. But all of them have slowly come around, have been curious, and are supportive. So, yes, at times I have struggled with 'am I making the right chioce?', but in my heart and for my health the choice is obvious to me. Thank you all for chiming in! This forum has been a great support. I love knowing that I am not alone in this journey xoxo

    Got My Sleeve Date!

Yay!! Having a date feels soooo good
  19. I use Bariatric Advantage, they are not so bad. I think you can request samples if you call them directly good luck!
  20. For insurance approval I met with my nutritionist once a month for six months. Our meetings were short ans sweet. We would discuss my eating habits and exercise. She would give me tips and a goal for the next month (ie. Log food, walk more, eat out less..) Nevertheless I gained a few lbs over the six months... oops. For the sleep study, I met with a rep from my sleep data center. They showed me how to hook myself up to the device (a little box) that was strapped around by torso (right under boobies). It was easy to do at home by myself, easy to follow instruction. Then I slept like normal. Woke up in the morning. Turned off the machine and returned it.... I ended up being diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I never realized how poorly I was sleeping. CPAP for me. I hope to lose my CPAP machine very soon!
  21. Oh man! 02-20 cannot get here fast enough! I am so excited!!
  22. I too am a 02-20 sleever! I am on week two of the pre-op diet; 3 shakes a day and one small high protien low fat meal... the only thing that is saving me is that rather then having my 'meal' once a day, I split that food up and have it with each shake. It has made it much more tollerable. Only one more week! Yay us!!!!
