    Not mentally prepared...

Hey Ladies!! Thank you all so much for your advice! A lot of it is very sound, very good advice. I struggle with depression and bi-polar as it is so I've started my meds again and that seems to help some. My husband brought home a weightloss book so I'm reading that too. I can honestly say I'm on the way to being a happier, healthy me :-) Shae, I have to say that your advice was some of the best advice I have ever come across. I never realized you would go thru a grieving process but it makes perfect sense. I am so glad you posted it and I'm going to make sure I read it frequently. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to give out advice. Much appreciated!
  2. I am 5 days out of my surgery and am a little nervous. I knew the surgery was the best idea for me but I don't think I was mentally prepared for all the changes that would take place. I'll be honest...I love food so not being able to eat what I want when I want is really different. I know had I not had the sleeve done, I would have been more overweight than what I was before the surgery so I'm glad I got it done. It's just had to adjust when all you see on tv are food commercials and I'm dreaming of it. Does anyone have any ideas in how I can make this adjustment as easily as possible? Thanks.

    Banana Babes

Hello ladies! We are one day out Yippee!! So far, so good. Feeling pretty sore today but getting up and moving around helps. Dr. Mason came in and said my surgery went great! So glad made this decision!
  4. Well, tomorrow is the big day and the nerves have set in. I keep wondering what if something goes wrong or I didn't do something right? I know this is the right decision, I'm just nervous I guess. It's 11:19pm here so only a little bit longer...but wow, it came quick!!

    Pre-Op Diet Worries

So I started my pre-op diet (high Protein, no carb) last Tuesday. I'm getting sleeved November 8 so I'm excited. However, I've messed up a couple times and had some carbs so now I'm worried about the surgery. I know everything will probably be okay but I'm still nervous. My husband was sleeved almost 2 weeks ago and did great. However, me not so much...any advice? Brandy
  7. Thank you Niki! That is something my husband really needed to hear, rather than "you're going to kill yourself" I'm not trying to be mean but that is not a very nice thing to say, especially considering he went to the doctor yesterday and the doctor was fine with what he had eaten. Steve understands where everyone is coming from, otherwise he never would have put this post up. He definitely appreciates the advice. Dr. Mason did confirm it is probably head hunger so that is something Steve is going to work on. Thank you all for your advice and we look forward to getting to know ya'll as we continue our journey together (I'm getting sleeved next week) :-)
  8. Sitting here at work reading the forum...lots of fun!! =)

  9. Started my pre-op high protein, no carb diet yesterday. Doing good so far but major adjustment! Surgery is Tuesday, November 8th.

    HEY TEXAS SLEEVERS!!!

Hey ya'll!! My name is Brandy and I'm schedule to have my sleeve in Bryan, Texas, by Dr. John Mason. He has done my mother in law's as well as a few other people that I've known, including my husband. My surgery is scheduled for November 8th and I have just started my 2 week pre-op diet. Let me tell you, that diet is kicking my butt!! Its all protein and no carbs. My husband, Steve, recently had his surgery (October 20). He's doing really good and actually going back to work tonight. He lost between 10-15 lbs on the pre-op diet and I can already see it. We both made the decision to do this so we can teach our children a better way of life. We currently have one little boy named Kaden. He's 20 months old and I think we've hit the terrible twos so life is interesting at my house!! Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. So glad that my husband directed me to this website so I can share my journey with others and learn about their's as well
  11. Thank you!! That's my little boy, Kaden :-)
