  1. I am pre-op on the liquid diet...walking 1 1/2-2 miles a day! Why is the scale going the other way! I have gained 1 pound! That makes no sense to me! I am averaging... 800-1000 calories per day 90-115 proteins per day 70-80 carbs per day 20-25 fats per day 80-100 oz of water/liquids per day (No sugar, no soda, no real food..nothing but protein shakes with 1% milk, gogurts, sugar-free pudding and soup broth) PLUS...I exercise! What am I doing wrong? The scale has varied... 10/11/11...307.0 10/12/11...304.0 10/13/11...302.6 10/14/11...301.6 10/15/11...302.0 10/16/11...301.2 10/17/11...302.2 See the problem here on the last 5 days of liquid? Am I getting to much protein...using to much milk... to much sodium in the broth (I only eat one cup per day)...WHAT? Sad in Oklahoma!

    UHC covers Plastics...

What kind of documentation is needed for these surgeries to be covered? Also, I heard on the breast lift...the insurance company requires you to reduce to a "B" cup. Any one know if this is true? (I have been a "F" cup all of my adult life and it would look really weird for me to be a "B" cup)

    Only 32 Days!

It is amazing how most of our storys ...are the same! My journey was 3 months to the day...surgery is Nov. 2nd. I would have been devestated to learn that it was actually 6 mths.. Just think of it as added knowledge and time to prepare for the actual WLS experience. I began a strict diet on Aug 2nd... 1200 calories 90 carbs or less 80-100 proteins 50 fats 80 oz of water or more per day walking 1/2-1 1/2 miles per day All of this helped me lose 52+ pounds before surgery! Which has helped me correct a lot of my bad habits! I am blessed to have had the support team to help me through this. Now, I am on the pre-op liquid diet (1 week in and 2 weeks to go) and let me tell you it has been easy! Yes, I said it HAS been easy! My mind and body are on the same page and that makes all the difference. I wish you the best in your journey and look forward to seeing the results! God bless!
  4. GOD is good!! Someone just gave me $500 to go towards the fundraiser! There are amazing people out there and I am so blessed to know them! Kindness is eternal and goes a long ways in todays world! :)

  5. HELP!!! I need a NERD! I hate being tech-know stupid!!! :(

  6. Feeling GREAT...! WoooHooo! One week of a liquid diet and seeing progress on the scale...FINALLY! :) Two more weeks til the BIG day!

  7. I vote...YES!!!! I weigh everyday...it keeps me honest and it helps me make good food choices knowing I am accountable to the scale. The scale doesn't lie! Some days it is up...down or stays the same...either way, I know am doing ok or I need to change things up a bit! To me it is another tool to my weight loss goal!

Why should we hide that we had surgery?

I agree.. has someone not shared their success story with me...I wou;dn't be doing it either. I am grateful to ALL the people who shared their WLS stories with me! I hope I inspire someone or many...to change their life-time of obesity to a life-time of being healthy!
  9. Walked 1.5 mikes with my Chuckie..Had a great lunch (egg drop soup) with by best friend... now I am ready for a cup of tea and watch the storm blow in! Awwwwwwwwwwhhh!

    Psych Eval

I too had never seen a therapist...but went reluctantly! I actually went twice..and enjoyed both sessions! I had already been on the program 2 months before going...so I had come to terms with my food "demons". All went well...and I am clear for surgery on Nov. 2nd. I highly recommend everyone get control of your food habits..the sleeve, band or RNY will NOT help you do this! It is YOU and only YOU that will make those necessary changes...the sleeve (WLS) is a tool..not a solution. Wean yourself off of your "sugar/food" a little at a time. If you want chocolate, eat a Hershey Kiss instead of a large piece of chocolate cake or pie! If you crave caramel...have a Werthers Butter Cream candy...see how this works? There is a modest subsitute for every craving. Try eating 1-3 (no more than 3) bites to satify your craving. I hope these tips help you...I know that is how I lost my 50+ pounds before surgery! God bless!

    No Water = Weight Gain

I am pre-op... surgery is Nov. 2nd..and I know what you're talking about. I too have used the past 3 months to prepare for this permanant lifestyle change. What I found that worked for me is...I made my plate..or ordered as normal. Then I would only eat half...take home the other half or freeze it. Sharing with another person helps too! This helps you cut back on large protion sizes. I am on the liquid part of the pre-op...and it is easy because I was already use to the small portions. I drink 80-100 oz of water a day...so I never really feel hungry! Eating slow is still a hurdle for me. I have 4 girls living at home and 4 other grown children outside of the home..we are never still. So...that will be my greatest challenge! I hope this helps!
  12. I am going to throw my scale in the TRASH!!!!!!! I swear it has to be broken!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrr! I am so close to my goal...

  13. I know what you mean..isn't a calorie a "calorie" no matter what it is..or how it is consumed?

    3 more wake-ups

Steve, like you...all of us can lose the weight to some degree. KEEPING IT OFF...is the purpose of the "tool" WLS. I think most of us second guess our decision..but in the end we all know if we want the long term effects...we need this tool! I sure know I do! I have lost and gained hundreds of pounds over the past 30 yrs! I am confident that this WLS "tool" will help me keep it off once and for all. Changing our lifestyle with exercise and good eating habits will insure our success! Best of luck...

    A month to go...

I've been on the liquids for 6 days now...and I must say, it isn't so bad. I actually forget to drink my shakes sometimes. I do 3 shakes a day and 2 Snacks (pudding, gogurts or soup)...and I feel fine! It really hasn't been as bad as I thought! If you can cook it...puree it...and strain it... you can have it! That is how I've been making my soups! A juicer is good too...I have one..but don't like many fruits...so it collects dust! Maybe I will break it out and try it now! I think the key is that I started cutting WAY back on portions 2 months ago...and now I am ready! I wish both of you ladies great success..and will keep everyone up to date on my surgery, Nov. 2nd!
  19. Ready for my little girl to come home... I've missed you Taira Ledbetter!

    Confessions of a Shopaholic

Wait... I need that size now! LOL I was a 26-28...after 50 lbs...I am a 20-22! I have some of my smaller clothes from a few yrs ago when I lost 100 lbs doing low carb...but those are running out. We need a clothes give-away program...so it helps each other on their way down the scale! I have some 26-28's...praise GOD they no longer fit me!
  21. I can't imagine having a spouse that wasn't supportive! I am so blessed to have the support system I have...everyone knows what I am doing..even all 300 of my facebook friends know..and every single person supports my decision. I am very blessed... My heart breaks for all the people who are doing this in secret or alone! Support is what makes the real difference in this process! I am so thankful for this site and the people on here who keep it REAL! I am happy that your husband supports you now ...soon you will look and feel like a MILLION DOLLARS!

    Less than a week

I can relate to this post! My feet, knees and back hurts all the time! I have lost over 50 pounds and still feel the pain! I have about 145 pounds to go...and I know the "tool" WLS..is the help I need to reach that goal. My surgery is Nov. 2nd...and I am very ready! I started the liquids last week...and am so very set up to WIN this BATTLE! You are on the right track and I wish you the best in this journey!

    surprise response

Ok..here is my two cents worth on this topic! First and foremost LOVE is unconditional! If someone LOVES you...then they are entitled to voice their concerns, but support your decision, afterall it is YOUR decision! Second.. I have learned over the years with my grown children and other adult family members...that I don't have to like what they do..but I respect their privacy and LOVE them all the same! We can't control what other think or say...but our unconditional LOVE in return will warm the cold hearts...and in the end all will be forgiven. I am having my surgery on Nov. 2nd...and I am very blessed to have 100% support from everyone..friends and family! I can't imagine people having to hide their WLS because they fear rejection from friends and family. My heart goes out to each of them. This is a time when we need LOVE and SUPPORT...now more than ever! The good news is... HERE we are ALL family! We are there when no one else is! Hold your head up high... and do what you KNOW will make YOU happy...and healthy! God bless you....
