Bad Taste In Mouth
When I get that tase in my mouth I just drink more fluids. I have started brushing my teeth so much my gums hurt. As far as the sugar-free hard candy, it's a good idea if your body can handle it. Because of the sugar alcohols in the candy it gives me tons of gas so beware. I chew on gum sometimes now, and that helps a little, but gum can sometimes make you more hungry. As I'm writing this i just thought of those listerine strips, maybe that will help. I know it stinks, everytime my boyfriend wants to give me a kiss I get so nervous that he will smell my stinky breath. He never says anything but I am sure it stinks. I don't know what to do with myself either. Luckily I have my 2.5 year old daughter to keep me busy. The hardest time is during her nap, that used to be my scarf down everything in the house time. I just bought the first season of friends and I put it in our travel dvd player and watch it while I walk on my treadmill. I'm actually starting to enjoy it. It has turned into my "me" time. Good Luck hun you sound like your doing really good, this whole dry mouth stinky breath thing will be worth it in the end.

How Long Until The Bloated Swollen Tummy Goes Down,
I still feel a bit tender at times, but most of the time I am fine. If I vaccuum or do laundry I can feel the burn. Also I jogged a little on the treadmill and I felt the pain a little. I am almost 3 weeks out. I don't need my pain meds and I am doing fine. I believe I am still swollen, but that may be wishful thinking lol.

Venting One More...maybe 2 More Times!
I also worry about being too thin, my boyfriend worries about it too. I try to tell him that I may end up being too thin at first but in time I will level out. I am still a long way off from being too thin, but it is a concern all the same. Since I have never been "thin" anyway I am playing this whole weight loss thing as I see it. I have no idea if I will be happy at 170, 160, or even 150. Since I am 5'8 and a large boned person I assume I can weigh more and still look thin, but who knows. People tell me I look good at 200, they might be lying I dunno. Right now I weigh around 225 and I wear a size 14/16 pants and Large shirts. My goal is to be thin enough that I don't have extra fat, like I don't want back fat, and I would like to have a mostly flat stomach. I can't get too picky about the stomach fat though because I have had a baby with a c-section, I may never have the stomach I want. You will be fine. I would like to say though that you should probably start working out so you can build lean muscle and not have too much extra flab and skin. One way to ensure you don't look sickly is to be lean and fit and not just "too thin". You will need to increase your calories, but you can slowly start incorporating more into your diet. This is all my opinoin though, in the end it's up to you and your doctor. Good Luck.

Are we prone to Sharting after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I have to agree, never trust a fart LOL. I tried to trust my farts two times and both times I was sadly let down. So now if I have to pass gas I sit on the toilet that way I don't have to keep throwing my underwear away. In the hospital it happened once too, it was after the x-ray to check for leaks. No one in the hospital told me that I would be a pooptastic person, but I did read it online before the surgery. I still wasn't prepared for it. When it hits you, you better get a move on to the toilet. It's all funny now, but at the time I wasn't a happy camper. I left some "skeecher marks" as we call them in our family on my hospital gowns and sheets LOL. The squirties were very bad during the clear liquid only phase, now that I am on Protein shakes it has gotten a lot better. I'm assuming as I eat more solid foods it will continue to get better. Just be prepared and always have extra undies on hand.

Cold.... Like Freezing Cold - Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery 3.5 Days Ago
I am on Day 10 and well at times now I still get freezing cold. I just had my boyfriend buy me an electric blanket and I sleep with it every night, plus I have another on hand when I get cold around the house lol. I am just telling myself to get used to it because as we lose weight we will start feeling cold more often too. It has gotten better since I have gotten out of the hospital and the first couple days at home tho, jsyk. One night I ended up being up all night because I couldnt get warm enough, I was literally freezing and I tried everything and nothing worked. It gets somewhat better, at least in my case it has.

Did I Hurt My New Belly, Pain After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I will update when I talk to the doc. When I take it easy the pain does ease up a lot. I was busy tonight too and the pain flared up again. So I am assuming I am just pushing myself too hard is all.

Speckled Red Rash, Hot Red Swollen Face Cheeks, Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery -- Anyone?
I have like a red speckled rash around my incisions as well. It itches like crazy. I had to peel the glue off a while ago because it was driving me nuts! It still itches a lot. I haven't brought it up to my doc I figured it was just a reaction and in time it will go away.

Stupid Question For Ya, Does Water Go Right Through After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I'm glad you asked this because I was wondering the same thing. At my office they say to drink 8oz over an hour but I can drink a bottle of water which is 16.9 oz in one hour. I keep wondering if I am hurting my sleeve or not. I don't feel pain or discomfort or that full feeling at all.

Did I Hurt My New Belly, Pain After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
So I had my sleeve done on November 30th and since being home I have been doing pretty okay. When I feel good I get up and do chores and clean and cok for the family. Well sometime yesterday I must have done something because today I am having this pain where they took the tummy out. It's like a pulled muscle type of pain. It hurts to breathe deeply , stretch, get up or down mostly anything. I did some vacuuming yesterday, but my vacuum is very light, I know I am not supposed to lift anything over 10 pounds. So I just don't know if I should be making a bigger deal of this or not. I told myself I would relax today and take it easy. My theory is maybe I just pushed myself a little too hard too fast and I ned to backtrack a bit. What do you guys think? BTW I did call the doc and they said if it is the same pain tomorrow I need to call back then, if it gets any worse go to ER. I just want everyones opinoin that's all.

Day 11 After Gastric Sleeve Surgery, Extreme Energy Low..extreme High Heart Rate Almost Hospitialized
I am on day 8 and I am in the same boat as you. I was doing fine for a little while but now I am just beat. I don't care to do anything and I don't want to. I am a huge cranky butt. My doc said I should be walking briskly everyday and I am like what the heck!!!???! How am I supposed to do that when even taking a shower wears me out. I am so hoping this gets better fast. I get to start protein shakes tomorrow and I am really hopeful that will help me. Good Luck! I know it will get better, the beginning is the hardest it's just so hard to focus on that right now.

The Gas..the Gas!
The gas does get better. I had surgery on the 30th and wow it was horrible. Not to mention they make you take this x-ray to check for leaks and the stuff you drink gives u the poops, I know TMI, but everytime I had to fart I had to run to the bathroom or it was gunna be a mess. I'm doing much better now though, don't give up. !

Banana Babes
I was sleeved on Nov 30th and I am just checking in. I was in horrible pain, the gas pain that gets under your shoulder and diaphram, until about 2 days ago. Right now I am doing great, I feel like I have done far too many sit-ups but other than that I am okay. I am getting all my fluids down and feeling fine. The worst part of this whole thing is crushing and taking my medicine. BLECKKK it is disgusting. I can't wait to be able to swallow pills normally again. I was wondering how everyone felt about Gas-X strips. I know I couldn't take them the first day after sugery, but I wonder if I could use them now. I know it would really help, I just don't want to hurt my tummy at all while it's healing.

Nut Dr. Couldn't Have Cared Less...
I saw my Nut 3 times. All of the times she was super nice and we went over lots of information. Never had to fill out any forms or anything. Can you get a different NUT? They are there to help you and advise you in any way about what to eat when to eat and how to eat. You should feel good about it, not bad. I answered plenty of questions, but the conversation was smooth. We talked about weight loss attempts, drugs I have taken, family history, etc. She also talked to me about how I was doing on my pre-op diet, if I was drinking soda, how much Water I was drinking, and also how I felt about who I would be and what I would eat after surgery. If you can't get a new NUT then I would say to get tough. You ask him what you want to know. Some people just aren't personable, I don't understand why they would go into a profession where they deal with people but unfortunately they do. Good Luck hun it will all work out in the end.

Are You Scared To Have Wls
Awesome stuff, I am not going out of state or anything but I like being informed. Who knows when I may be able to help someone else, or even may need to know the information for myself someday. Thanks for the post!

Weight Gain Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Everyone goes through this in one way or another. Believe me though it's totally not worth it. My surgery is on the 30th of this month and looking back I wish I never did all of my "last suppers". I felt so guilty when I only lost 1 pound at a Dr.s appointment. The more work you put into this now the less weight you will have to lose and the faster you can be back to eating what you love. Obviously in smaller portions and less frequently. All I can tell you is to buckle down and get serious. If you do that all will be well and you will feel totally better about yourself. Good Luck!

Gastric Sleeve Surgery Denied!
I hate to hear things like this because it can really bring the person down. The best advice I can say is ask for help from your surgeon , they obviously have more pull (most of the time) than we do ourselves. In truth this is not the end of the world, and you will pull through. If this insurance company ends up denying you all the way to the end, the next one will prolly approve u no problem. Stay Strong and stay dedicated because you WILL have this surgery. Good Luck!

HELP! I have my Nut. Evaluation on the 21st and don't know what to expect! Please help!!
My nutrition appointments were my favorite part of this whole thing. I liked my nutritionist a lot, because she was a normal person and not some super health food nutball. She asked if I was drinking soda, how my pre-op diet was going, and went over lots of paperwork on food and vitamins. I felt I could be more honest with her than my own doctor. I told her I was still drinking sodas but cutting down a little at a time, and I soon as I got my date I would quit all soda, she was happy with that. She also understood my setbacks, and all my falls off the wagon. She helped me a lot. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Her main concern was making sure I was well aware of what I was getting into health and food wise after this was all overwith. I was fully aware of it and so I got cleared. Plus she asked about eating disorders and stuff. I have a horrible binging problem and I was still cleared, so don't worry too awful much. They are there to help, and like someone else said unless you are seriosuly cuckoo you will clear just fine. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Panicking And Fantasizing About Canceling -- Need Your Wise Words
You are having the same feelings I am having. I have my surgery on Nov 30th. I'm not as panicked, but I keep thinking I might want to cancel this whole thing and do it on my own. I know I have tried to do it on my own many times and haven't kept the weight off , but I keep thinking I could this time. But I know in my heart I couldn't. Just try and stay busy, I swear my house seriously sparkles I have cleaned it so much in this short amount of time lol. I am a stay at home mom so I spend a lot of my day with downtime. My downtime usually used to equate to scarf down time lol, so now I am dealing with the head hunger. You will be fine. I was worried about waking up during my first surgery , now I joke about looking forward to the break LOL. I'm always telling them to keep me out a little longer so I don't have to go home as soon. I have never once felt pain during surgeries. I was awake during my c-section and I didn't feel that pain either. Just a ton of shoving around. Moving your date up was IMO a great thing, the sooner you get it done the better for YOU! Just try and stay busy and like previous poster said time will fly by. In 5 months from now you will thinner and happier and not even thinking about this time. Good Luck hun, keep us posted.

Finally! Finally Finally!

The 20% Insurance Doesn't Cover
I have had a lot of out of pocket expenses with this surgery. I have had to pay a 200.00 consult fee, plus I had to buy a lot of protein powders. I applied for a credit limit increase on my credit card and used that. Plus any other expenses that will come up. I know it is hard, I am a stay at home mom and my boyfriend is out of work right now. We don't have a lot of money and I am on Illinois Medicaid. My boyfriend and I both feel like it is worth the money, this is going to change my life for the best. In one or two years when I am healthy and thin, the money I spend now will be long forgotten. Good Luck hun, I can see how this could be stressful for you.

Finally Approved For Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
Congrats ! I didn't do the six month supervised diet, but I'm sure it feels like forever waiting for it to be over. I started my journey Sept 26, 2011 and I will be sleeved November 30th, and just that little bit of time felt like forever, so I can't imagine how 6 months would feel. Anyways congrats! We are so worth this. Time to move on with our lives and get skinny!
