    January 2012 Sleevers!

I totally get you Tenshi, I do not deal good with pain and it was a disaster. Well It is my 4 th day out today had a little bump on the road, but have now refocused on the thing I need for me to successful. I haven't lost any weight now, hope that's normal. I am sipping water throughout the day and having the isopure protein and kefrin yogurt. So far today: two ounces of protein, two of yogurt and four of water. Little steps I guess.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow, so I should find out when my surgery date is. Hopefully within the next two weeks. So excited! I have been on the protein shakes for about three months now. They recommended them at the kaiser options program. they say its good to build up on your protein reserve. I take the Premier, they have 30 grams of protein and low on sugar. I love the vanilla flavored ones. I am so happy to have joined this support group. It is a great place to find the support I need and to share my feeling if I like. People here understand my excitement and nervousness as opposed to people around me who might not really like to hear about the whole surgery or anything to do with it.
  9. Hello Sleevers, I finished my Kaiser Options program last week (12/19/11). Today (12/28), I received a call from Fountain Valley Hospital. They said that they got the referral and have everything ready to go, that I must register online, which I did and wait for a call to schedule for a class with them. I am so excited! I hope they call me to schedule really soon. I drove over to visit the hospital today, just to see and get a feeling about the place. Of course, its nothing like a kaiser facility. I expected a huge multi level hospital, as I am use to with Kaiser, but I am yet to meet with the surgeon and see how that goes. can any of you share your experience if you have been sleeved by Fountain Valley Hospital.

    January 2012 Sleevers!

I am waiting for the Dr.'s approval, everything looks good so I am expecting a call after January the second. I should be having the surgerly before the end of the month, but don't have an exact date yet. I am really excited and nervous about the whole thing...looking into Fountain Valley hospital in california. I still need to choose my surgeon.
  14. That's great! Thanks for the info, I still need to see what my option for surgeons will be. After your last options class, how soon did you have the surgery? Did everything go smoothly with the referrals?
  15. I have 3 more weeks to finish the options plan. I'm also at the Orange Health Pavillion. It's been a great journey so far. I guess once you are approved for the classes it's a for sure thing. I hope so. They told us in the program that Kaiser Doctors are doing the surgeries at the South Bay location and that the process is pretty quick. So I'm hoping I get mine done in January.
  16. Wow! You look amazing, you should take a full body shot to compare as you continue to lose. I can't wait to have mine.

    Kelly, Aceves or Alvarez

Hello, Im new to this website. I thought, maybe I had joined in too soon, since I wont't have my surgery until around February 2012 as well. I'am glad I'm not the only one. I am having the wls by kaiser permanente, or actually the Dr. they refer me to. Next Monday I am starting the first of 12 weekly classes which are suppose to educate me about the wls. I will not get to see the surgeon until I am done with these classes at the end of December, so Im hoping the surgeon approves the VSG over the gastric bypass. I simply wont do the bypass, i think its too risky for me, for I'm concern about the Vitamin malabsorbtion, since I already tend to have vitamin deficiencies. I am really exited about this journey, I have read amazing stories of success which keep me motivated and focused on my ultimate goal. I can't wait to have my sleeve and to share my success with everyone here. I too wish every one the best of luck and a successful journey.
  18. Congratulations! Best wishes for your recovery and journey. Thank you for the info, I will look at you Dr's website, since I'm still looking for one.
  19. OMG! This is exactly what I was thinking about. I have three sons, 16 yrs, 12yrs and 17months old. I have tons of pictures with my first and middle child, but I have not dared to take any with the baby. I avoid taking pictures with him becuse I dislike the way I look. Yet, i know that time is passing by and that he is growing up and i am missing out on creating memories with mommy on print. AnywayS, I CAN'T WAIT TO TAKE PICTURES WITH MY KIDS AND HUSBAND
  20. Hello, I'm new to the site too. I will start my options program on 10/03/11. I have not researched a surgeon yet. I am going to the Anaheim options program and I heard that they use the PB an fountain Valley hospital. Is anyone familiar with Fountain Valley? By the way, I'm very excited about this journey!
  21. OMG! I thought I was the only one on this boat. After I told my mother she not only gave me the same sermon, she promised to make me thin with natural herbs and remedies before my surgery date. She calls me almost everyday to ask if Im taking those teas she gave me and if I've walked. I tell her that if it as that easy I would have lots the weight long time ago. I have to stop her before she tells me horror stories she heard about bariatric surgery. My sisters are not very supportive either, well with the exception of one of the three. They say that since I told them, their lives have been disturb. They want me to try on my own. Since my surgery is not only another 4 months I decided not to talk about it and maybe they'll forget. This is the very reason why I joined this support group. So, unfortunately sometimes the family could be the least supportive group. They worry too much, I think.
  22. Well, I guess this is where my journey begins. I am 38 years old, I am a mother of 3 and have struggled with weight for my entire adult life. On January 2010 I began to consider the wls. On May, after my baby was no longer nursing I decided to make an appointment with my general practicioner at Kaiser La Palma, to address my weight problems. I finally got in to see my doctor on July 11, 2011. My doctor explained that in order to be a cAndidate for the surgery referral I had to be 40% BMI or have medical problems related to obesity. The nurse was order to measure my height and to take my weight. 5'2 220 lbs 40%BMI This measurements put me righ at 40% BMI...For time first time I felt happy about the numbers on the scale. LOL The Dr. immediately sent our the referreal, gave me and EKG and ordered tons of lab work and a Sleep Apnea test . She recommended that lower my calorie intake and try to lose some weight before the surgery. she talked as if it was a set deal. I couldn't belief how quickly everything started moving. My EKG was great! Vitamin D was at 7-- started on 50,000 iu weekly My husband and I went to my Bariatric Orientation on 8/11/11, it was in this orientation where we found out about the SLEEVE. It didn't take us long to determine that this is the surgery that is right for me. When I discovered that I had a Vit D deficiency, i became concern about the malabsorption with bariatric surgery. Revisited Dr. on 8/29/11 weight in at 216 lbs. by now my Vit D was up to 32. On 9/12/11 I had my sleep apnea test, still waiting for the results. Today I weight in at 212 lbs, total down 8 lbs. On 9/20/11 I have an appointment with the options dr. on 10/3/11 I begin the options classes, once a week for the following 12 weeks. I DONT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL TELL ME THAT I HAVE BEEN APPROVED. I KNOW IS A PREREQUISITE TO DO THE 12 CLASSES, BUT DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE BEEN APPROVED? WHEN WILL MY SURGERY TAKE PLACE?
