Mushies?
I am 2 weeks out and looking forward to eggs, canned meat, etc starting week 3. I can't have ground meat until after week 6.. Something about red meat they say it is hard to process. I am going to stick with baked fish, tuna, salmon and canned chicken & tuna. Guacamole sounds so good though.

Husband Drama
My parents divorced after 42 years and I was in my late 20's. I cannot tell you how much happier they are now. Both have remarried and are truly happy for the first time in a long time. I so wish they had not waited so long to divorce. I grew up in a home where yelling, cussing and slamming doors was the norm. Not only that, but I had to grow up too fast standing up for my Mom and getting in the middle of their physical fights which is awful. It made me an insecure adult who avoided conflict and instead dealt with my stress & emotions by eating them away. I am a wife & mom now and I find myself knowing what "not" to do based on my upbringing experience. The main things are love, trust & communication. My husband and I can talk about anything. It's not like we live in paradise all the time. Sometimes we have to agree to disagree but it is so much healthier than how I grew up. I did not want my son to grow up in an unstable house the way I did. I will be praying for you. If your husband is willing to go to counseling with you, then I think you should try it. People can change but only if they want to and they accept help and follow through on it. I can only tell you that you have to make yourself happy, no one else can do that. Your kids feel everything you feel so even if you aren't saying it, they know you are unhappy and sometimes they can blame themselves if they don't understand what is going on. God bless you as you make your decision. Wishing you the best, cause that's what all of you deserve.

I guess I'm at a stall
I am still on full liquids phase and move to mushies next Tuesday, 9/27. I am trying to track my fluids/protein today instead of guesstimating the way I have been. Maybe I haven't been getting in as many as I thought. Thanks for everyone's encouragement. I appreciate each one of you.

My first throw up since I was sleeved exactly 3 weeks ago!
I think what you are feeling is completely normal. Speaking for myself only, diets have let me down so many times before so why is this one going to be any different? I lost 28 lbs in the past 4 weeks including 2 week pre-op & 2 week post-op. But, the last 3 days there has been NO movement on the scale whatsoever. It is hard to stay motivated to keep drinking & walking, especially when food is the way I managed stress in the past. Now, that is not an option. I am trying to track my Protein, fluids & walking today to see if it seems to help with the scale movement (down, that is). I get to start eating mushies next Tuesday and while I can't wait, I am also a bit nervous. I wonder if I will feel full or if I will eat too much and get sick. Hope you get better. I'm here if you need to vent.

I guess I'm at a stall
I wish I could help. Unfortunately, I am 2 weeks post surgery and the last 3 days have seen no movement on the scale. I am trying to increase my fluids, Protein & walking to see if that will help. But, I am definitely feeling discouraged. I lost 12 lbs on the pre-op diet and 16 since surgery. I try to get my 60 grams of protein & fluids in each day but know that I am not always successful. My left side has been really pulling so I had not been walking as much. Started walking again this past Tuesday and trying to get 1/4 mile in every 2 hours or so. Hopefully someone will respond that can help both of us. If nothing else, you now know you are not alone.

As of this morning... I am normal
CONGRATS! That is awesome news. I am just starting out myself, 2 weeks after surgery today. But, I hope to say the same in the next year.

Anyone having problems with old obese friends?
Tiffykins- GOOD FOR YOU. I am sorry that your previous "friends" let you down in such a phenomenal way. You would think that they more than anyone would understand why you chose WLS. But, I guess that was not the case. We just have to remember that we did this for ourselves, to be healthy and live longer for our families. Not only that but to actually live instead of just being alive. I am so proud of you and you inspire me every day.

Early September Spitfires
My preop diet started on 8-24 and i lost 12 pounds. Surgery was 9-6 and I have lost an additional 16 pounds. Still feel hungry if I dont keep sipping And get my fluids in. Side incisions still hurting But getting easier. I am so glad I did this.

Pain next to belly button
I am 2 weeks out and have that same pain. I have been told it's where they cut into the abdominal muscle to put the stapler in/out and to remove the stomach portion. So, it was really stretched open during surgery. Some folks report pain 1-2 months out still. Maybe that's what it is.

Nothing is working! (tmi)
SAME HERE, it was day 5 I think for me. It was bad.. I now take a cap of miralax per day to avoid this.

September 27th is my date!! Now my marriage has gone from bad to worse!!
My Husband reacted similarly to my decision to have surgery. Partly I believe because it was one of the few times that I took a stand on something and did not let it go when he disagreed. I spent a lot of time praying and atthe same time kept moving forward with my plans. I attended the seminar and let him know but made myself not talk about it to him afterward which was difficult for me. I told him that I submitted my paperwork and if God's will I would be approved. 2 weeks later I was approved. I spoke to him then and he said we may not be able to afford it. I prayed about it and once again God cleared the way. When it came time to pick my surgery date, I told him that I loved him and that I was not doing this to hurt him or to get thin and leave him. In fact I was doing this to get healthy so I could grow old with him and hold my grandchildren some day. That next day I began to see a change. I consulted him when picking my date and he was with me for every step from then on. He took vacation when I had surgery so he could be home to help me the first week.he has become my biggest supporter and cheerleader and I could not imagine doing this without him. I will be praying for you.

When will i notice?
I am 9 days out and have lost 25 so far including the 11 pounds preop. I can tell in my clothes already and was able to fit into some 18 jeans that I previously could not get on. Problem is with my incisions they are still pretty painful so for now I am stuck wearing elastic banded pants until I heal a bit more. I was miserable the first 5 days and then on day 6 seemed to turn a corner. Hang in there, I promise it gets better.

HOW can u possibly get 60+grams of Protein without supplements??
I am one week out from surgery and am struggling with this as well. I found Isopure protein drinks (the grape frost one tastes like grape koolaid). It has 60 grams of carbs in 16 ounces.

Was not going to post
I am so glad you posted this. I had no idea that they send our removed portion of stomach off for labs but I guess it is a great thing that they do. You are the second person I have heard of this happening to in the past week or so. The other person mentioned this happening to her Sister. I am so happy for you that your surgery provided a double blessing in this way. Keep your chin up, know that everything happens for a reason. I am so glad you went thru with your surgery and as a result will live a healthier and longer life. Take care and know we are all here if you need to vent..

I'm in ONEderland...
Weighed this morning and what to my wondering eyes did appear, 199 on the scale. (Did you think I was going to say reindeer). I hit ONEderland today. It's been quite a while since I've seen it. Very exciting. Almost makes up for the food I'm not eating... Almost. (SIGH).. Day 9 Post Op and I am feeling so much better. Actually drove my son to school today and went to the grocery store. I had to pick up a few essentials. Getting in/out of the car was a bit painful but the driving part was okay. It definitely tired me out though. I am now adding drinkable yogurt & strained creamed Soups to my eating plan. The weight is coming off but man am I ready to eat something, anything. Heck, I'd settle for a bowl of Cereal or a bowl of regular Soup with noodles... I noticed my tongue is a bit white and some on the board say this is ketosis which means I am burning my fat stores. Well, hallelujah for that I guess. 13 days and I get to have canned chicken or tuna, thin mashed potatoes and more. I can't wait. I am struggling now to get in my 60 oz of fluids & Protein per day. I am drinking Powerade Zero, Crystal Light, Carnation Instant Breakfast/Sugar Free, Drinkable Yogurt, Cranberry/Apple (Diluted 50%) and today I picked up some SF Kool-Aid. Trying to keep it as varied and interesting as possible. And I just added the dose of Miralax per day to my eating plan as well. My Hubby & Son are my cheer leaders and are so supportive. I couldn't do this without them and without each one of you. Any time I am feeling down or have a question I can log on and somewhere my question has already been answered or someone's success or similar feelings inspire me. Thank you everyone.

Steri-strips - when did yours come off?
Use some nail polish remover on the bandaid gum and it will come right off.

the wife...jealous
My Husband was not supportive at first but once he saw how determined I was and I explained to him that I was doing this to prolong my life And not to leave him or suddenly start dressing trashy he became supportive. He has become my strongest cheerleader and I cant imagine Getting thru the recovery and life changes without him. I secretly hope That he will decide to have this as well but know that has to be his decision.

Surgery is tomorrow!
My surgery was 9/6 and I remember having anxiety up until my surgery time. The pain afterward was a bit more than I expected and made me have A bit of buyers remorse initially. But, that was just the pain talking. Just take 1 day at a time. Sip, walk and take ur meds if u need them. I feel better every day. I cant wait to have semi solids though. Hang in there.
-
Is this normal?
I agree. Please don't feel like we are ganging up on you but you definitely don't want a leak. I have heard horror stories from people that didn't wait to introduce the next phase and were on liquids for months instead of the few intended weeks . I had surgery on 9/6 and believe me I am SO READY to chew something.. but I am waiting cause I do not want to cause any damage. Plus I have to start adhering to eating rules now or this won't be successful for me. Still having bad hunger pangs though so if anyone has any tips, please share them.

It made me stop and stare
Raine that's an awesome story. Thanks for sharing.

Guess it's time to introduce myself...
Glad to hear u are well. I feel better today than I have. Still have chest gas and horrible pulling From left incision site. Ice then heat seems to help. Still lots of hunger pangs which I did not expect. Hopefully once I get semi solids I will feel better.
