    31 BMI

To the person who asked if we could eat normal after vsg I can tell you that eating is mostly normal as the months go by. I have tried eating everything and its ok just in small portions. You will learn when to stop eating and which foods fill you up the most. I enjoy that I can go to parties and have a little food and later on a small piece of cake. Its such small portions that even then you can loose weight because its nothing compared to how much you can eat before surgery. As the months go by everything will become second nature and you will learn to adapt to the new portions and still feel normal. This surgery is great and the rewards that come with it. Such as getting to shop for new clothes.

    31 BMI

To Dallasmom4, the recovery process for lower bmi patients in my opinion its easier because we have less fat pushing on the incisions. I was sleeved the same day as a lady that had a high bmi and I was sitting down with my feet legs crossed on top of the bed the day after surgery and she said she couldn't sit like that or she had pain. I never took one pain pill and only had gas the first few days. I also went for a walk to the beach near the hospital with my hubby. The nurses weren't too happy since I went without even telling and its Tijuana. I enjoyed my walk and felt great. The only thing I felt was tired and sleepy at times while I was still on liquids. I've seen others have surgery with low bmi and they seem fine once their home.

    Abnormal EKG??? Oh no....

I can relate to your story since I also went to my primary care doctor for testing before I went to mexico for my surgery. I was having chest pains and I also was told I have a small hole in my heart and they heard a heart murmur. I was so depressed thinking I was going to have to cancel my surgery and keep struggling with my weight. My doctor also expressed concern for my weight but I still was not big enough for surgery through my insurance, I had a bmi of 33. My doctor reffered me to the cardiologist who said I was fine and that I could live a healthy life even with the hole in my heart. So I went ahead and had my surgery and now I no longer have chest pains after loosing weight.

    31 BMI

Hi, I am 5 months post-op and I started with a bmi of 33 and was told by everyone I wasn't big enough for surgery. I tried to go through the insurance but they required a higher bmi. It could be less than 40 but that's if you have at least two co-morbities and fortunately I had none. I did have shortness of breath and knee pain and felt depressed about my weight. Instead I went to Dr Ramos Kelly in mexico and it was the best decision I made. I'm now 120 lbs which is lower than my goal which I reached at 4 months. I'm still loosing weight but I'm eating more calories because I don't want to be a stick figure. Lol. I didn't have family support since they thought mexico was a bad choice. My hubby supported and went with me and now that I'm skinny and my surgery and recover went great everyone changed their mind and even asking for info. My neighbor went last week after seeing my sucess she was inspired and she also had a low bmi.

    Shoe Size....

So far I'm down 67lbs and I'm down half a shoe size or even an entire size depending on brand. My shoes all seem too big and too wide now. I have a friend who also lost a lot of weight and lost almost 2 sizes.
  6. In my case I'm 5 months out and I still wait 30 minutes to an hour after I eat to drink. Like someone else said especially when you eat bread or rice its impossible to drink on top of it because your stomach will feel like its extremely full. I was the kind of person who drank while I ate and drank a lot. I thought this rule was going to be hard to follow and its actually not. I got used to it and I'm sure you will too. You can take one sip if your mouth is dry. It also helps with weightloss to wait after you eat to drink fluids I read this somewhere but not sure where.
