    All Protein Meatloaf

Any idea on how long to cook this in a slow cooker? Can it be cooked in a slow cooker? I have to leave the house for a bit tomorrow and hubby will be home but I planned to make meatloaf in the slow cooker tomorrow and I would like to try this recipe. I am just starting to use the slow cooker I have had for about a year (my first one) so I am still learning how to use it.
  2. Ok, I admit that even though I try to do the best I can with carbs I still probably eat too many carbs. My downfall is I haven't found alternative to my fav foods to make them lower carb. Things like spaghetti, for example. I make it as healthy as I can (I ground veggies into tiny specs so my oldest won't realize they are in there lol) but the one part I haven't been able to get around is the Pasta. I have tried the whole grain stuff and none of us like the aldente-ness (??) of it. I boiled those noodles for like an hour and they never got tender, which is the way we prefer it. To me they don't seem done if they aren't tender. So is there a low carb/no carb alternative that actually gets tender? Keep in mind if I find anything good I will use it post-op too so the lower the carbs the better! Another thing is pizza... I know, I know, its not the healthiest thing but every so often I cave and when I do I would like it to be sleeve friendly (for post op) and nutrition friendly in general. Like I said b4 I make it as healthy as possible but I haven't been able to find a crust (Its has to be ready made. I have 2 kids, go to school, looking for a job and I don't have the time to make from scratch) that is low-no carb that doesn't make it taste like crap. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance. Nothing else may exist but I figured if anyone would know you ladies & gents would

EEEEKS! Giving a go at pre-op diet..

A protein shake (which made me sick) and a protein rich dinner later and I am STARVING! HELP!! HTH am I gonna do this if I can't even get through day 1??? PLEASE tell me this is just my stomach throwing a fit and in a few days it will be better??? I am seriously ready to throw down a dozen eggs (eeeks, consider the cholesterol) I HAVE to get a better grasp on this or there is NO way I can do this for 8 months! I am going to the store tomorrow and I am gonna clean them out of tuna if that's what it takes to stay satisfied without completely blowing my carb limit I thought I had a pretty good grasp on my carbs but I have never had to keep my carbs THIS low...

EEEEKS! Giving a go at pre-op diet..

Congrats on your 12 pound loss! I am trying to figure this all out with real food so I have a head start post op. If I end up having to incorporate 1 shake per day thats ok but I want to try to do as much as humanly possible with just plain old food. I have to figure this out, if I can't get enough protien in now I am in REAL trouble when my tummy is 1/10th its current size . Don't get discouraged 12 pounds in 17 days is nothing to sneeze at, that is awesome! It taken me since March to lose that much!! You will lose that weight just keep at it and dont give up!
  5. I have been wondering about this as well... did you ever get an answer??
  6. I have been doing alot of reading and alot of watching ppls youtube vids lately and there seems to be common theme. I knew that the first 6 months where the big loss months but it seems as though the majority of the weight you will lose over all is lost in that 6 months as well. Is that the case? I want to lose at least 100 pounds, to get to my goal I would need to lose 110 as of my weigh in the other day (but TOM is also in town so some of that may be bloating I am not sure) and 130 to get to my docs suggested weight of 160 (large bone structure). I want to lose as much as humanly (and safely) possible during those first 6 months. I see com ppl were able to lose 70+ pounds during that 6 month period. If I lost 70 pounds I would be down below my pre-preg weight with my first child and I would be beyond thrilled (I would still need to lose more to really be healthy but I haven't been below 240 in almost 6 years and my pre-preg weight was 220). So, for those of you who lost 100+ pounds how much did you lose the first 6 months? And those of you who lost 70+ pounds those first 6 months please share your secrets!! How long everyday did you exercise? What kind of exercise? What did your diet look like? If there was one thing (other than the sleeve) that you attribute your success to what was it? Was there anything you think you could have done differently to lose even more (again, safely)?

A question for those who lost 100+ pounds

I am not concerned with the e-mail speed now. I had a momentary panic when I couldn't get the hosp webpage to load lol Its all goooooood I did inquire about the post-op diet specifications so if you could fill me in on that it would be great! Like I e-mailed Nina, I know with a full-sized tummy I may not be able to follow it to the letter but I can use it as guidelines

A question for those who lost 100+ pounds

Really? I thought for sure the website said the typical 35+ w/ co-morbidities or 40+.... I went back to look at the site and its GONE, as in my browser says And Nina hasn't replied yet to today's email or to an e-mail I sent 2 weeks ago... Is something up with Dr. Aceves' office? Do I need to find another surgeon?? I think I am gonna go check the yahoo group and see if I am the only one having this issue with the website. The e-mails are one thing, the one I sent 2 weeks ago she responded to but hasn't yet done what I requested because she said she needed time to gather all the data and the e-mail today is only a few hours old but the website thing is worrying me a bit... Ok, never mind... yahoo was just being a PITA I googled it and it came up right away.

A question for those who lost 100+ pounds

I have no comorbidities, If I lose enough to get below 40 BMI on the pre-op do you think they would still do it? I really need to e-mail my patient coordinator about that because I know myself well enough to know that any loss right now is temporary and I will end up gaining it back, my metabolism is in the tank so the second I do the tiniest thing I gain a ton of weight so until I get the metabolic reset that the surgery gives you I will never be able to live a normal, non-dieting life and just maintain. I am gonna e-mail Nina...

A question for those who lost 100+ pounds

Wow, thats uncanny lol. I have been considering starting my post-op diet b4 surgery but I keep stopping myself. I know my history and I know that without this surgery no matter how much I lose I will gain it all back in time plus some and I am worried that if I do the post-op diet and lose too much I won't be able to get sleeved anymore and I will just be putting the surgery off even longer I know Mexico is less picky since they consider it "elective" surgery but I just don't know. I am also scared that if I try it pre-op and don't get the results I want (which considering my metabolism issues is entirely possible) that I won't put as much effort in post-op as I would otherwise. I am normally not a quitter but with regard to my weight I have tried and failed so many times that it is very difficult to find the motivation to continue once things start going south I guess I could try it again. I have done atkins b4 and couldn't make it through the detox because my body craved carbs and sugar so badly, but I have to detox at some point right, and I have cut back over time so maybe it will be easier this time???We haven't gone grocery shopping yet this month.... I will look into it once I do.

  15. My udder cover was a god send when I was nursing. It made it very comfortable and discreet to nurse in public, and its thin and breathable so baby doesn't get to got... well unless you are in hot weather... but then baby would get hot anyway. This promo code allows you to get as made as you would like (one per order, but you can make several orders) for just $5 shipping and these covers are usually around $30. I got this code in my e-mail and I am no longer nursing so I figured maybe one or some of you could get to use out of it Code 4 both sites: Breastfeeding free udder cover or nursing pads: https://www.uddercovers.com/cart Free baby carrier: https://www.sevenslings.com/index.php/cart

    Dr. Domkowski

He is not my doc but there is a guy (mrsmileyfl) that went to him and says alot about him.
  17. Has anyone who has flown recently been to the pepsi coliseum? Are the seat sizes at the coliseum smaller, same or bigger than plane seats? I know SWA has 17 1/4 in width seats but I didn't have a measuring tape with me yesterday and I can't find the seat dimensions online. If plane seats are the same or smaller than the pepsi coliseum I now know I need to buy 2 seats. If the plane seats are even 1/2-1 inch bigger I can make it work (albeit uncomfortably). I can force myself into the pepsi coliseum seats but its rather painful. I ended up moving and sitting on the stairs. I did find someone online on another forum about the coliseum saying that they are about avg size and can barely fit so I am hoping the coliseum seats are just unusually small. Also, I haven't flown since about a month after my first was born and he turned 5 yesterday, so its been a good long while so I don't remember this part. At the coliseum the arm rests were at hip level (which is why it hurt)... are plane arm rests @ waist or hip level?

Anyone been to pesi coliseum? seat size vs. plane seats.

I know the dimensions of the plane seats... I am just curious how they compare to seat I sat in yesterday that I didn't quite fit in...
  19. I tried an 8 oz glass of Protein shake last night does my reaction make sense? Initially, I felt satiated and was loving the fact that I had absolutely no interest/craving for food, although I couldn't figure out why I suddenly was so tired (isn't protein supposed to give you an energy boost?). Then I kinda got nauseous.... I started belching ALOT (with a little "re-uptake"). Hours later I was still uninterested in food when I laid down to go to sleep. Normally I am not interested, even remotely in eating until noon at the earliest, but today I woke up STARVING! Is this pretty typical when adjusting to Protein drinks, or am I a total odd ball??
  20. After my first son was born (via c/section) my stomach was obliterated. I have stretch marks from groin to less than an inch below my TTs and as an additional parting gift he left me with a "fat pouch" (grade 2 pannus) "anchored" at the point of the incision. It has not budged since then. At one point I lost 23 pound and several inches from my waist and still wore the same size pants. One doc said I will likely need a tummy tuck to remove it But other have said that once I lose weight it may snap back. What has been the experience for you all? If you had excess skin to begin with did it snap back or did it have to be removed? I just hate it SOOOOO much. To this date my c/s scar is still raw and painful because of the moisture that is trapped there. I have tried everything to alleviate the moisture but nothing I have tried has worked. I have tried baby powder, absorbent material, deodorant, gold bond powder, etc. Anything I could think of. Has anything worked for any of you (seeing as how I have to put up with this until after I lose the weight and possibly until I get surgery)? Any info would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

    I tried some protien powder..

I'm pre-op and just kinda taking a test run of things (protien shot, gatorage Protein drinks, the shakes and greek yogurt). It took me awhile to finish the shake and I was very full when I was done... I can't even imagine how you post-op ppl do it . I *thought* protein shots where gonna be the way to go but the one I got tasted h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e!! So, I have another question... if its normal for the shakes to fill you up like that how on earth do you have room to EAT anything post-op?? I have my entire stomach still and after drinking that the mere thought of eating made me wanna purge! How on earth do you get the rest of you nutrition in the rest of the day???? I am serious I was so full I considered drinking a couple of those a couple times a day from now till my sleeve to help me lose some of the weight (tbh I even though about it as an "instead of" idea, but I know it wouldn't last forever, eventually I would want real food and gain it all back) but I don't know how healthy that would be and I also don't want to lose so much that they won't do my surgery (like I said, I know it will come back w/o surgery) so If it was THAT potent for a non-sleeved stomach how on earth do you sleevers manage????

Feel like crap - Need to vent...

I am sorry you are going through this. (((((HUGS)))) The gallbladder is one of those organs that we can live without but that we do need. I had my gallbladder removed @ 16 and basically went through hell for 2 years after and could barely keep anything down without choking down this chalky stuff, and I honestly believe its the reason I have IBS now (because of the bile). Your doc may have been hoping your gallbladder issues would have worked itself out. Honestly, after what I went through to add that to the sleeve..... well, I am glad it worked out as it did *for me*
