ravenjeh got a reaction from SuninVirgo in "Liver Shrinking"- the pre-op diet?
I did not do a pre-op diet, as my doctor did not require it. He never mentioned the shrinking of the liver as something I needed to do. I went through surgery very smoothly and never had a problem. My BMI was 40. It was really cool to watch the dvd of my surgery as they put in the little tool to move the liver out of the way.

Hands down, Dr. Thomas Borland in New Iberia. I could not have had a better experience and still only paid $9800. While that does not include the pre-op labs, if you have insurance, it should take care of it as it's only simple bloodwork and chest x-ray. It does include the hospital stay, but it's outpatient- that's how he keeps the price so low. He has you stay in any local hotel so that he can visit and check up on you for the next couple of days. I love him!

Hey Mrs SoMiss! I'm in florence, a few miles south of Jackson. I'm so glad there are finally MS sleevers here!
Flower: Thank you so much for the "pep talk"! I leave tomorrow to travel to Lousiana to get sleeved and I am super nervous. But I am super excited too. I'm so glad you have had such great results!

ravenjeh got a reaction from racheal218 in I think God has opened a door :)
I have been researching WLS for a couple of years now, knowing that my husband and I could not easily afford it. It wasn't until a few months ago that I found out I could get the sleeve done in Mexico for 1/3 to 1/2 of the price. I was denied over and over again by the medical finance companies that work with the surgeons. So, I sat down and made a budget thinking that I could probably have enough money saved up in a year. I was disappointed because I just turned 29 and wanted to be near my goal weight before I turn 30 (no real reason, just a goal I had set). I told my mom and husband about the going to Mexico idea, and even though they were afraid of going there (because of the statistics of violence in the city I had chosen to have the surgery in) they were still supportive. I've been praying about the decision, wanting to make sure I am following God's plan and not my own. Then yesterday, while browsing on this forum, I found a posting about a doctor in a neighboring state that has a pretty affordable cash price for surgery. I looked up his website and he sounds like a great surgeon. The price is more expensive than in Mexico, but less than most US doctors. It would take me a little bit longer to save up, but at least he is only 4 hours away instead of over 13 hours away in Mexico (we were going to drive because we are both terrified of flying!). I told my mom about it and she was elated at hearing that I wouldn't have to go to Mexico (she is a worry wart! lol). In fact, so much that she offered to loan me $8000 of the money for the surgery. I didn't know what to do at first. I feel bad taking my mom's money. But, I then realized that maybe this is God opening a door for me. I have every intention of paying her back within a year. I'm praying that if this is the path He has chosen for me, that I follow it the way He wants me to. This all happened during a weekend, so I am dying to call the surgeon's office tomorrow morning first thing and get more information and details. I want to make sure he is the doctor for me. I am so excited for what HE has in store for me! Just wanted to give my testimony! Any prayers about this decision would be greatly appreciated

ravenjeh got a reaction from circa in Nausea With Vitamins
Just an update: For the past 5 days, I have been taking my Vitamins at night right before bed and it seems to have helped a lot. The first night I did get a little nauseous, but I've noticed that since surgery if I so much as think about the possibility of throwing up, I get a little queasy. No problems since. Now I don't dread taking them

I am doing low carb, so I eat a good bit of cheese everyday. I usually will eat a laughing cow wedge, a babybel cheese round and a little whipped cream cheese on turkey deli meat.< /p>

My head hair is falling out in droves, though. Weird how your body lets the good hair fall out, but clings to the bad hair, lol.

You might try other acid reducers, too. I started off with prilosec, but it didn't do anything for me- I was having to chew a lot of Tums still. Now I take Pepcid in the morning and rarely need Tums.
    Congrats on the 32 lbs!
