    Debbydo is back & humbled

Hey Debby Long time since I've been on here!! It looks like I missed a lot with you.... I have been filled to just about the max but have not lost ANYTHING in a year!! i have stopped at 175. I am stil getting smaller but just not loosing any weight, go figure!! I still want to loose another 30 to 40 pounds ( am only 5'1" so being 130 is not unrealistic at my height) Hope all is doing well with you!! Christine, your long lost May 05 banding buddy

WFAA Botched Band Surgeries not reported.

I just saw this report on TV tonight and was very dissappointed at the view that was taken. Yes I do understnad that ALL surgical procedures have a risk and that there are MANY patients who never report them, but why did they have to make it sound so negative about teh Lap Band? They could have jsut as easily chosen breast surg. or hammer toe surg. Why do they always pick on the fat people? It seems like just ONE MORE jab that we are fat because of our own fault!! IMHO... for whats its worth.

    May Surgery Dates

hey deb, I am still here, rarely post or log on any more, after all the drama last year on here I quit logging on, but I miss it a bunch!!! How have you done? Can you believe it has been 2 years for us?? What a change 2 years has made in my life..how about yours??? Christine
  6. NaNa, I agree with Carol on this... It seems that you are eating way more than the 1/2 cup limit. You def need a fill. I have found that even when I dont get that full feeling, I just go ahead and quit at the 1/2 cup limit, except when it comes to my icecream lol one other thing, when you think you have chewed enough, chew some more and put your eating utensil down between bites. Its amazing how much less we eat if we just simply do not have the fork in our hand!!

    A scary post-fill event

So What did the Dr. say??? I had a few dizzy spells after my 2nd fill but thought it was due to finally having restriction and my body not being used to not being overfed.. just my body crying for its food it had gotten to love so much!! lol It only happened a few times and I never actually fainted but I did get dizzy... Let us know what the dr said!!

Question: Was I too hard on the hubby?

Nessa, You are a riot!!! That sounds like something I would have done!! When my husband I were living together he complained about my weight but then would ask me to go make Cookies or go get him a bowl of ice cream. He is over 6' and very fit, Lean muscular guy and couldn't understand why i got fat!!! I wish I ahd thought of throwing the icecram at him!!

    Fat family, it's not inherited!!

ok guys, I did not intend to start a war here over genetics... this was just an observation on my part..I had always believed i was 'destined' to be fat because everyone in my family, on bioth sides, was..the point I was attempting to make was that FOR ME i realized it is not genetics that has aused my siblings t be fat.....it is their disease of not stopping the food train from the fork to the mouth and how much I noticed it this visit!!! The scary thing for me is the fact that untill May I was EXACTLY the same way. Thanks you to Jessica, my patient who told me about the band!!!

    Need Some Advice?

I agree with Kare, take you r mom up on the Nutrisystems offer and at the same time get your credit in shape so that is it does not work you have an option avaliable without your mothers conditions/strings attached. I wuld have rathe died than asked my family for the money if my insurance did not cover it. My best friend on the other hand has a wonderul family!! when her mom found out she was thinking about the surg she called all the other kids and TOLD them they neeed to contribute so she could have this done. Her sibs are well off and can afford to pay for it withour missing the $$$. Anyway, they all agreed to pay half and my friend paid half with a loan. That is one option you could present to you r mom, After the nutrisystems thing fails.. Good luck and remember, if you take the $ from her, no matter how long it has been, she will always bring it up, everytime you go home, she will make comments about how she paid for you to be skinny....

    D/FW Area

hi all!! OK I have been banded since May 5, 2005 and have as of yet t go to a support meeting. I have not looked very hard to be homest, into finding one in my area, I live in Sachse and work in Plano, I do not want to go to Dallas, just to lazy to make the drive after working all day. :faint: SO if you guys know of one out in my neck of the woods, let me know!! And we need to plan a get together for all of us in the Garland, Sachse, Rowlett, Wylie, area....I know there are more of us out here now!! Where is everyone?
  15. Well, I just spent 2 weeks in Seattle with my sister, 2 brothers and my mom. I have always been the smallest of the family, in every respect. I am the shortest, have the smallest feet, smallest hands, weigh the least, everything!! Anyway, I was so judgemental of my entire family!!! I had to really get a grip on myself before I said something ugly. I sat and watched as my sister ate a very large chicken breast in 3 bites, then proceded to eat my chichen breast, because I took my 2 bandster sized bites and could not eat anymore, she then ate my veggies, my potatoes,my salad, and then went back for seconds, and thirds...This was at her sons rehershal dinner for his wedding, Anyway I realized how much my family eats and why we are all so fat!! It has nothing to do with heridity other than the fact that we all have the same disease, unable to put the darn fork down and walk away from the food!! At one point I was actually embarrased and not for my sister, but for my kids and what I must have put them through all these years and they were not even there to see this side of their mother!! My sister has been telling me how much weight she has lost and how skinny she has gotten, she still weighs close to 300lbs and eats enough for 10 people!!!! Now that I am banded I find myself being overly observent of how much food people eat and what kind. Does everyone do that?? Or am I just overly sensitive?? OK just needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for letting me ramble about my family who eats enough to feed a small country in africa..:omg: BTW, I do love my family, I was just shocked that I had never noticed this side of them before now...
