  1. Wow that is crazy. I would have been so weak and sick. I never counted carbs or cals really...in the losing phase only Protein. (I would guess during losing phase after I was healed I was getting 1100-1200 cals a day.) Worked for me! I would get 75 grams of Protein a day or more. I think you are allowed to modifiy your surgeons guidlines... what ever works for you!

  2. I like what everyone is posting, what a great thread!

I also weigh everyday.... I have to or things could get out of control quickly.

I work out 3-4 days per week (lifting weights and some cardio)

I chose Protein first whenever possible, but I do eat 1600-2200 cals a day!)

Most importantly: I keep focused on what I want long term (not what I want at the time-- I usually want an entire box of cheezits and a chocolate bar) But I will never go back. Mindset is my biggest key in maintaining!

  3. NO and no.. No you dont fast. Your body needs nutrients. No not just shakes either... Change your excercise program up and drink some more Water. That should jumop start you .. Also your only 25lbs from goal. I just did a cleanse for the first time and in 10 days i took off like 8lbs from that body cleanse. Try that. It put me pretty much at goal weight.. Bottom line is you dont want to fast.. Thats what YOYO dieters do. Ever notice wieght comes right back on after you start eating again after fasting. Just my opinion but my opinion on this one is right.. HAHA..

Everyone has a right to their own opinion BUT....If you take a look at the vets forum...there are dozens and dozens of sleevers like myself 2-3+ years post-op following this plan and it works. It is intermittent fasting. Not fasting. Big difference!! You do get all the nutrients your body needs, you just allow your body to use stored energy more efficently.

  4. this is called orthostatic hypotension....google it! When you go from a lying or sitting position to standing quickly your blood pressure can drop dramatically, and usually your heart rate will go up. it is common after significant weight loss. I'm an RN in a inpatient eating disorders unit, (patients with anorexia and BN suffer from this frequently as well) I have picked up patients off of the shower floor more than you'd guess.

Let your MD know this is happening, and take your time going from a lying postion to a standing position. that will help.

  5. I am a little concerned because you are only 6 weeks out! If you were six months...maybe? I am appropching the 3 year mark and I can barely that much dense Protein at once. I wasn't even healed enough to feel fullness at that point. I could eat Maybe 1 tablespoon of food at 6 weeks. I am not trying to sound rude at all I am just concerned you are not feeling everything yet cause you are still healing. I don't think you should be concerned with streching your sleeve yet, but concerned with a possible leak. My surgeon says it really takes 4-8 weeks to heal and have all the swelling gone from the trauma of surgery.

  6. I'm 2.5 years out. My hunger never left completely. But it's definately improved from pre-surgery and easier to manage :-) ! I'm with-in 3 pounds of my low weight from surgery... With some effort. My desire to not go back is the biggest factor in my weight maintainence... Not my actual sleeve restriction at this point because I can totally eat around my sleeve if I want. ( and I do once in a while )

  7. Excellent suggestion. I started doing 16 hour fast this week, and lost 2 pounds. I've been struggling to get any weight off since November, and the loss has just slowed down. I try to eat the same amount of calories I was eating, about 800-1000/day. It's the only way weight comes off. I do think the limited time helps curb the extra few calories I was putting in my mouth closer to bed, which also helps. But I could see once I hit maintenance, I could do this 5 days a week, and loosen up a little on weekends. Guess I'll see when I get there. Thanks for a great suggestion, and glad to see your success with it!

Awesome!! So glad to hear you are having some success with this too. This is totally the ticket for me. I am at my lowest weight post op ever!!! ( I am 2.5 years post op) :-) Keep me posted!

Don't worry the first entire month sucks totally. (it is soooo worth it in the end I promise) I was misreable. Hang in there. It gets better and better. I usually forget I am sleeved all together. Yes I eat Pasta about twice per week. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. !!!
