  1. I went back to work 7 days later as a nurse but I was working in the clinic at that time. Hospital work I would recommend at least 3 -4 weeks!
  2. It is scary but it does happen. I know if I didn't pay attention and ate what I truly wanted it could happen to me. But I won't go back!
  3. I feel completely normal at 22 months post op. I forget I was sleeved most the time ! Love it
  4. Interesting!! you seem like you have a good head on your shoulders. I know you will make your goal! My sister is my height, weighs 140 (and has always been pretty thin) and she is a size 4-6.. Most people say they don't think I weigh 170ish pounds- most people guess I am about 150. I guess I carry my weight well? And when I was 262 nobody believed that either. Would I like to weigh 140? sure, but.... I know myself and I know it wouldn't be a maintainable weight for me.
  5. I know you didn't say I was at all, just making sure I was clear about my happiness- and totally agree that if I wanted to be 140lbs I would need to sacrifice my daily lattes and Friday night beers! One other positive is no loose skin :-)
  6. oh no I know I'm not a failure! 170 was my goal- to put things in perspective- I weighed 170 pounds at 10 years of age. I wear mediums and size 10. I have never been happier. At 262 pounds I was 2x and size 24!
  7. totally. my weight goal was very modest.. 168 currently at 5'4''.... easy to maintain. I could not be a failure this time. I had gained and lost so much weight in my life I couldn't do it again.
  8. sure I'm 22 months post op. I have been drinking beer since 5- 6 months out. I had no troubles making my weight goal and now I maintain without trouble.
  9. Hard liquor and wine to me is disgusting! I enjoy 2-3 regular beers a week. :-) no troubles with carbonation, and no it has not and will not strech my sleeve.

    Bathing suits.

I am almost 2 years out-- I am lucky with no loose skin-- but still not thrilled about my bod in a bathing suit! Maybe I will be brave and post a pic or 2 after my trip to Florida in the end of may!
  11. I don't have allergies to it but I don't and didn't use that toxic crap not even once post op. Coming up on 2 years post op and I made my weight loss goals, and currently maintaining! You don't need that fake crap!

    Weight gain

I am coming up on 2 years out and I am still at goal....BUT I could definitely put my weight back on if I wasn't kind of careful. At 16 months out I gained 8 pounds back... freaked out and took care of it. And with some determination have maintained ever since. It is MUCH easier to maintain weight loss with my sleeve. Its half the sleeve doing the work and half my brain-- will not go back to 260 pounds, I can't and I won't!

Do You Drink Coffee, How Much Weight Have You Lost?

I have had an iced vanilla latte (NOT sugar free) everyday for the last 20 months! I waited until I was healed (like a month to try my first one) I made my weight loss goal and have been maintaining for more than a year.

    No more weight loss?

Yep I agree. You'll be ok if you go below 40, it's off the initial weight. Good job, that's a great start!

    how far out are you?
  19. As a medical professional I can tell you there's no problem with getting a tattoo, won't be a problem regarding your surgery at all EXCEPT if it gets infected, that could be a problem if you needed antibiotics.

    Pickle juice

I am guilty of taking sips from the pickle jar, olive jar, hot pepper jar, etc. soooo delicious. No harm in a couple sips as long as you can drink some extra water!

    Registered Nurses?

congrats girl- I got that job at Melrose Institue! The inpatient eating disorders unit! Still with Park Nicollet so I keep all my benefits! 16 dollar an hour raise!! Yay!!

    Registered Nurses?

RN here too! My advise is work in a healthcare setting while going to school! Soak in everything you see and hear. You learn so much that you can apply to your exams and clinicals. I have worked 12 years (2 as a nursing assistant and 8 as a LPN, and now as a RN) in a nursing home part time. 5 years full time at a family practice clinic-- and just took a new exciting job.... Oddly enough in an inpatient eating disorders unit! Best career ever!! Good luck! You will love it

Gained 8 pounds in two weeks! WTH?

As a RN, am concerned about your swollen feet. That isn't normal. You could have fluid retention, it is easy to gain 5 pounds of fluid, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. In the mean time elevate your legs above your heart for a couple hours a day to help facilitate the movement of fluid. Do you take meds for your blood pressure?
