  1. Ok so I want to warn everyone! The day of surgery and 2 days after were no picnic. I am a nurse, and was not prepared for how hellish I felt be prepared for the worst. But on a good note, I weigh 12lbs less than last Sunday! I feel better and better everyday. I am going back to work Monday and I get to advance to full liquids including yogurt. So excited. I am in good spirits and hope to keep it up! Yay!
  2. For sure I felt the same way. I gained 7 lbs the month before surgery! But now those days are over. Keep your eye on being thin and healthy! it helps. It will be so much better than eating, I know it.

    Longterm Weight Loss Stories???

My mom didn't have a sleeve done but she had stomach cancer 19 years ago. Basically they removed 70% of her stomach and a small part of her esophagus. She went from 195lbs to 105. No cancer since. Her weight has never gotten over 108 in all those years!!!!! She says it's still hard to eat bread but that's it!
  11. Try this its amazing!!! 20 grams of protein!!!

    I have to be honest....

I think you are doing a great job, and your doctor was treating you a little rudely! I work full time with a doctor and he says your liver (or mine) is probably not that big, at least to be felt like that. I can't see your ticker, (they are blocked at work) so I am not sure about your starting weight. I am 28, 5'4'' and my high weight was 262, and ate out almost 100% of the time for meals and I have a lean liver according to my ct scan. The big fatty liver than can be felt like that is usually from being an alcoholic or being older and obese, and and having comordidities like diabetes. Were any of your liver function tests elevated? LIke AST, ALT, etc? You are 22, and you probably have nothing to worry about, keep up what you are doing. Be pround of your preop weight loss. :-)

    High Protien and super yummy

my NUT said this is acceptable in the first few weeks when we are not having any other food intake. This would be a once a day type thing of course.
  15. I am on day 3 of the 10 day preop liquid diet and I am ready to drive myself to taco bell! Any tips!? I can have slim fast or carnation instant Breakfast mixed with milk, I can have broth, and crystal light, and Water. The thought of drinking a slimfast makes my stomach turn right now!
  16. I see online all the pre-op diets, some have 2 weeks, some have 3 days, some have none at all..... So i was thinking, is it really that big of a deal?? Until I met a friend for coffee yesterday. She had a gastric bypass March 3 2011. She has my same surgeon. She said she followed our required 10 day liquid protien diet about 75% of the time. She woke up and the surgeon said that many other surgeons would have closed her back up cause her liver was still huge and fatty. He said she was lucky he was so seasoned, and they may have had to close her back up and wait until she shrank her liver. This is motivating me to keep on track with the pre-op diet! I have 5 more days to go!
  17. I hope all is well, I saw a few of your posts, and I am excited that I can relate to a young person. I can't wait to see your progress!

  18. I am glad you are ok! :-) I can't wait to hear about your progress. I hope you get to progress your diet soon. My surgery is Tuesday :-) I will keep you posted!

    Self-Inflicted Liquid Diet

I totally agree with Tiffy. I am on day 4 of the required liquid diet, and if your surgeon says you don't need it, don't put yourself through this. I have cried twice. :-( its harder than I thought!

    Day 8 of pre-op diet..

I wasn't so sure how important this diet was until I met with a friend for coffee yesterday. She had a gastric bypass March 3. She has my same suregon. He said he almost had to close her back up when they got inside cause her liver was so huge. She says she followed it like 75% of the time! It would be so horrible to wake up and for your surgeon to say sorry, we couldn't do the surgery cause your liver is too big and fatty. Its motivating me to keep on track!

    Sticky note with progress!
