i need help with the puree stage!!!
FishingNurse replied to emmas mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make egg salad and thats pretty good. I didn't puree my tuna salad the tuna seems to break up really well if you mix it up well with mayo or miracle whip. Just take really small bites. Also try the Ricotta bake! I made it and ate if for days. I used super yummy Giadia DeLaurentis sauce from Target so it was extra delicious and satisfying!! I am making a really tender roast tomorrow and I will see how that goes. I think that would tatse fine blended up a little??? Oh and don't forget refried Beans with smooth taco sauce, sour cream and melted cheese! very tasty. Shelly's Baked Ricotta 8 oz of Ricotta cheese 1/2 cup grated Parmesan 1 large Egg, beaten 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning salt & pepper to taste 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave. -
WHY??NEED ENCOURAGMENT
FishingNurse replied to Jinjin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are being too hard on yourself. You are aloud a few treats here and there ( a few times a week?) This is life, and just because you are sleeved does not mean you can NEVER try a bite of cake. So save the treats for special times and focus on the healthy for the most part. You can do this! -

Did any one think it wasn't going to work for them?
FishingNurse posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 17 days out and I am down 38lbs from my highest weight, and 23lbs since surgery. I am very happy with this weight loss. I have lost about 40lbs about 10x in the past and this is where I always fail and start gaining back. I have this fear its going to be the same as always. I cannot see myself even getting into the 100's again....... did anyone else have these thoughts and were proved wrong? I havn't had a single day where I didn't lose at least one pound, so I am really worried this will be too good to be true! Any thoughts are welcome! -

VSG Surgery vs. C-Section
FishingNurse replied to hibblesmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a very quick recovery. I feel back to normal 100% except I am eating way less! I was sleeved 8/9/11 and went back to work as a nurse in a busy clinic on 8/15/2011. I will tell you the day of surgery and the 2 days after that were pure hell though! I was so misreable in the hospital. I didnt have a lot of pain just horrible gas feeling trapped in my abdomen and I couldn't get comfortable in bed. Once I got home I started feeling better and better! -
"Starving" to death
FishingNurse replied to Miters36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have seen an anorexic girl die. She did not have any fuel intake (or fat reserves) for her organs and they shut down and she died at age 26. -

Wow, 2 weeks out and I'm 23% the way to goal!?!
FishingNurse posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone! I wanted to share my excitment. I was sleeved exactly 2 weeks ago and I have lost 21lbs! That's 23% of my weight loss goal in 2 weeks. It would take me 6 months to accomplish that before, and I would gain it back each and everytime. I have been back to work since last Monday. I am finally getting all my Protein in everyday. It finally clicked that I can't waste the room in my stomach for non-high protein things YET. (like cream of wheat, creamy Soups etc. ) I have been drinking 3 glasses of 1% milk a day spiked with a 3rd of a chocolate Protein Drink (that has 20g of protien!) every day. It tastes like wonderful chocolate milk. I drink that between "meals" for the meals I have 2-3 tablespoons of mooshy egg salad, tuna salad, a baby bell cheese or ground turkey with a little marinara on top. I feel satisfied and I am getting my energy back! My cals are about 800-900 a day. I also sip on Water whenever possible. I don't consume any toxic sugar free or fat free crap. I do light miracle whip for the egg salad and tuna salad. Everyone is commenting on how I am looking and good and they can see the weight loss and it is so much fun. I really am feeling so happy and motivated! Yay! -

FishingNurse replied to imnotfat_momsayimchubby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night I made Shelly's Ricotta Bake (that eggface lady) and it was soooooo good. I used fancy Giada De Laurentiis Pasta sauce from target so it was extra yummy you should try this! -

Super Tired 3 weeks out
FishingNurse replied to lulublu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 weeks out and I have 1/8 of the energy I had pre-op. I suppose 21lbs of weight loss in 2 weeks can do that to you! I have found the more protien I get the day beofre the better I do the next day. I am finally getting my target of at least 60 grams starting this week! -
I missed the eating in the pre-op diet, but after I have not really. I take a few bites and I am satisfied. Unfortunately we cannot eat like pigs AND be thin and healthy. I made my choice, and I do not regret it. I am going to be a much happier, healthier person. So what if you miss eating a lot? You will be thin and healthy and that's much more rewarding.

Looking great!

I struggled on the pre op diet too! I could have 4 slim fasts a day and it was hell. I felt the same way as you. Trust me, you feel way different after surgery I promise! You can do this!
