Gained 8 pounds in two weeks! WTH?
FishingNurse replied to HadToDoIt40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are your clothes fitting? how do you look/ feel?? do you feel like its a real gain? -
totally agree with M2G.... gotta take care of the small gains promptly. I regained 7-8lbs at the 16 month point... took care of it and I am back down to my low weight at 20 months post-op. My advice is rev your metabolism, move more, burn more cals, and decrease your intake by 100-200 cals a day. Nothing too drastic. It works! I refuse to regain!!

breakfast food on reg diet.
FishingNurse replied to NicoleLpn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my go to breakfasts are cottage cheese. cheese sticks, oatmeal, sometimes a slice of toast with peanut butter and banana, and of course hard boiled eggs! -
I am a nurse... so for the last week I have been wearing ankle weights during my shift- lost 2.5 pounds!! I encourage the veterans to try this if you are in a rut!

losing 1\2 lb a day 5 months out. is that normal?
FishingNurse replied to vmerrill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think a half a pound (1/2) a day is what she means -
I am not picky about body shape or size-- I don't think a lot of females are to be honest.... my fiance is 6'3'' and 275, and to me he is perfect. I am a sucker for a cute face and a great sense of humor.

Over 3 months out and skin issues..
FishingNurse replied to Huntingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 20 months out and I have to agree it does get better with time! I virtually have no loose skin, but after I lost 50 pounds in the first 3 months I resembled a shar pei. ..... I must add did have a very modest weight loss goal and I was sleeved at 28. Don't worry, wait and see. After rapid weight loss periods your skin needs time to catch up. Keep up the good work! -

eating too much? starting to get obsessive...
FishingNurse replied to allybenavides's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
don't focus on the volume of food you eat- focus on the content- that's what matters. To me I was sleeved so I could lose weight, keep it off and be healthy, I didn't get a sleeve so I could only eat a half a cup of food at once. As long as you keep your protein count where it is supposed to be, get your fluids and vitamins in, you are losing weight, feel good and are happy-- who cares if you can eat 3/4 of a chicken breast! Your calories per day are actually pretty low I wouldn't be concerned that you are eating too much at all. Have you thought about getting rid of your scale and only weighing at MD appointments? I don't have a scale. I weigh 3 times a week on the scale at work (I am a RN) it helps!! Oh, btw I'm 20+ months post op and eat 1800-2000 cals a day to maintain. I have been at my goal for more than a year. -
my 2 year surgiversary is coming up (and my 30th Birthday) in about 4 months.... going for 100 pounds down total... 7 to go buy August 9th! Can't wait to post pics !!

Stalled since April 1... God awful April Fools joke
FishingNurse replied to Jennifer616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you're not doing anything wrong! the scale will move again. -
Hello! I am 20 months post-op. I have been maintaining for a 13 months. I can drink fluids just as I did pre-op. I get grief from other sleevers cause I drink sparkling Water all day long. It has not and will not stretch my sleeve!! But to answer your question about alcohol-- I had my first beer 4-5 months post op. And have had 2-3 beers per week regularly since the 9 month mark. On my Birthday last year I may have had 6 beers over the course of 4 hours hehehe... So once in a while you can splurge, and I have maybe 2-3 beers on Fridays with my fiance and we share an appetizer. I am normal, and that's what I love about the sleeve. I do make good choices mostly throughout the week and I work out. Just wait until your healed, and if you can do it in moderation, and maintain your weight loss.... why not?

How Many Calories should we be eating?!?
FishingNurse replied to jar312's topic in Food and Nutrition
that's exactly where I was at 9 months. I am 20 months post op now and I maintain at the 1800-2000 cal point. I think am much higher than a lot of sleevers but its working for me and I am happy and healthy and maintaining with ease at this point. (pre-op I ate 4000 cals a day easy!) I did eat more at the holidays (Christmas cookies! ack) and I did creep up a bit, and took those pounds back off, and am back to my low weight, actually 3 pound below it!!! I am a believer that going to low on cals long term isn't healthy. Listen to your body-- see how you do an adjust as needed. -
I agree-- you have lost 100 pounds and you are eating well... I see no concern!!

Help! I'm feeling out of control--
FishingNurse replied to Trip2thin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello!! I am 20 months post op. Found myself up 7-8 pounds after the Holidays this year. I was feeling out of control and scared I was going to end up gaining my weight back. But I didn't!!!! I am happy to report I am back to my low weight. (it only took 2 months) I took a very moderate approach. I cut back cals back 100-200 (that's like a yogurt and a extra 2 bites at lunch for me!) a day and started burning an average of 300 more a day. That puts you at losing a pound a week. Its not drastic but it works! Try to build extra lean muscle but lifting weights.... you burn more calories naturally! Take charge. I had to.... I couldn't go back- use that as your motivation. You can do this!!! -
How much salad can you eat?
FishingNurse replied to tomato pie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with TES, early out I could only eat 4-5 bites. Now at 20 months out I can eat more than 1 cup! Start slow and chew well :-) -

A year and a half out and feeling like I am losing control
FishingNurse replied to Jodi G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
interesting! I'm just hearing about some fasting type diets. Mostly the 8 hour diet: you only eat 8 hours a day- and the other 16 you fast. So you can eat Breakfast at 9am and then eat normal but you last bite would be at 5pm. I have a patient (I'm a nurse) that went from 155 pounds to 129 in 3 months! She wasn't very heavy to begin with! I have thought about trying it to lose 10 more pounds! Thanks to your story I might just this -

A year and a half out and feeling like I am losing control
FishingNurse replied to Jodi G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same thing happened to me at the 16 month mark. I gained back 8 pounds around the holidays But I took back control and lost those 8 horrid pounds and I'm back to my low weight. I recommend a moderate approach. Cut your calories by 200 a day, and try and burn and extra 300 a day. Then you're on track to lose a pound a week. It worked for me. Boost your metabolism by lifting weights. You can take back control!!! I can't gain my weight back, it's motivation for sure. -
It gets better I promise I felt like jello for the first 6 months now 20 months + and feel solid again! I know exactly what you mean
