FishingNurse replied to Pammie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looks like you may have had a low-end BMI to start?? don't worry, the weight WILL come off. I thought I would NEVER get below 200lbs..... and here I am 6 lbs from goal wearing a size ten.... still losing pounds and inches. -

Scared I Will Gain If I Eat.
FishingNurse replied to Angela Johnson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have honestly eaten 1200-1600 cals per day since 2.5 months out and I am still losing. I think it is to our advantage to not eat too little. My metabolism is still good and I have so much energy! -
No Concept Of My Size...
FishingNurse replied to Aussiegirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I feel the same way!! I am weirded out when people call me small. or when a size 10 fits. I walk around feeling like I am still a 22 most of the time. Or think people are staring at my like I am still the "big girl" -
My BMI was the same as yours. preop (41 or so) And I am telling you this is the best thing I have done in my adult life-- please look at my before and after pics. I am the happiest I have ever been!! I still enjoy food, just eat about half the portions. NO side effects, no loose skin, no troubles. :-) Of course the decesion is yours but I am THRILLED I did this.

8 Months! Before And After
FishingNurse replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy I cannot even tell you. To be honest the weight loss has been quite effortless-- I do work as a nurse and get physical activity that way-- and walk at the mall a few days a week-- thats it. Also I feel like my higher calorie point has helped me a lot too. I eat 1200-1600 cals a day and I have since 2.5 months. I have NO LOOSE SKIN... a few wrinkles on my stomach. I am very lucky!! The higher cals have helped me keep my metabolism up i think. I eat a lot of Chipotle burrito bowls with steak and black Beans. They last 4-6 meals. :-) -

How Many Calories A Day?
FishingNurse replied to Debvzw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I think most stalls early on are from too few calories. Sometimes thats all you can eat though. I have eaten 1200-1500 cals a day since 2.5 months post op and I am 5lbs from goal..... Pre-op I was eating 3500+ cals a day for years. Our bodies are freaked out when we eat a fraction of that!! Try not to get frustrated and just do the best you can... (dont got too low either!!) The weight will come off. -
Saggy Skin?
FishingNurse replied to betterthanbefore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have very little to no saggy skin. I have lost 80+ pounds. I am almost 29. I have a few dimples on my stomach-- no "loose skin" and the dimples are improving and it is getting better every week. There is hope! -
I had rice at 6 weeks post op and I have it a few times per week in a burrito bowl :-)

Eating Out... Restaurant... Fast Food.
FishingNurse replied to sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get a steak burrito bowl from Chipotle with black beans and light on the rice. I also get cheese and sour cream and the hot salsa. Even at almost 8 months out this lasts me at least 4-5 meals. I used to eat the entire thing! And chips! I also go to subway and take the top of the bread off. -
The fat isn't softer, you feel softer cause the there is less fat pushing on your skin. My stomach used to be big and round and tight feeling. Now it's semi flat and feels like Jello. Lol. It does improve. I have noticed my skin improve and shrink back a lot in the last 2 months. (I'm almost 8 months post op)

FishingNurse replied to BamaXpress78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
congrats thats fantastic!!! -
I consider myself young and I have lost more than 80lbs. ( and I am short 5'4'') I do not have loose skin. I have a few wrinkles??-- thats the best way to describe them?? on my stomach and arms. no hanging flaps or anything. My legs and everywhere else look tight and toned. I am thrilled. I am almost to goal and assume my little wrinkles could get less noticeable in the next few years! yay!!! Stay hydrayed, eat well, and lose slowly if you can-- I ate/ eat 1200-1500 cals a day since month 3. good luck!
