How Many People Have Reached (And Maintained) A Bmi Less Than 25?
FishingNurse replied to ouroborous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder the same thing as well, BUT we also need to account for extra skin and bone density that can weigh 5-13lbs per my surgeon.... so maybe you really have 7lbs to lose to get to that point....? does that make sense? -
Cocktails And Alcohol
FishingNurse replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would wait until 6 weeks. I drink a few beers a week now, and have since 3 months out. You will get there. You are healing now! Way too soon to pour alcohol on that fresh staple line. -
Oh my you are still healing! No worries the weight will come off. In 9 months you will be like "I'm at goal, why was I even worried!"

How Fast Did You Drop Sizes?
FishingNurse replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed it took a lot longer to drop sizes at first, I had to lose 45 pounds to go down a size...it was pretty discouraging. I also started at a 22-24, then all of a sudden I am wearing a size 10! -
Pizza, Popcorn, Brownies
FishingNurse replied to ariesgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could never wait until goal. I indulge in pizza or something similar 1-3 times a week. And have since 2 months out. -

Me And My Relationship With Cereal Has To End! Ugh!
FishingNurse replied to mrsbrown0330's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree I do not limit my carbs BUT you need protien and if your eating frosted flakes there is no room for your protien. Its not like you can eat enough of it to NOT lose weight but you need protien to heal and be healthy now. I am glad you posted-- you are aware your body needs better nutrition! -
Sleeves Of Steel
FishingNurse replied to ariesgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gave myself this name about 1 month out cause I could/ can tolerate everything and anything-- which is great! Just small portions obviously. :-) I eat what I want but focus on proteins. I eat a lot of cheese, steak, and eggs and drink a lot of milk. -
Did You Quit Coffee? If So, How?
FishingNurse replied to feszyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always wonder why people give up coffee if they love it. It has no calories and it's an antioxidant. I have had a large 2% iced vanilla latte from caribou everyday since 1 month post op and I am 8 months out and less than 5 pounds from goal. -
How Long After Surgery Were You Sore?
FishingNurse replied to randalljohn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
About 2 weeks to feel normal except eating and drinking. I finally felt normal at 2-3 months out. -
Day After Surgery- Swallow Test Not Good
FishingNurse replied to randalljohn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally did, you are like me and are a "god sweller" It took almost 3 mins for the sips of barium to go into my stomach from my esphagus. It made drinking at first a bit of a struggle but I was able to do my best. you will be ok and take it slow!! Good luck on the journey -
Why Am I Not Losing?
FishingNurse replied to Angela Johnson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nearly everyone stalls in this time frame. It's normal! Your body just lost a lot of weight really fast so your body is holding on to what it can for a while.... Happened a lot to me. Keep doing what you're supposed to do and the scale WILL move again. Im living proof :-) -
I am glad you are reaching out and I am glad you posted this. Please get the help you need to deal with the Alcohol issues. YOU CAN get back to the 180's. Start now, don't let anymore pounds creep back on. Good luck, and keep us posted.

I Admit It! Even If No One Else Will!
FishingNurse replied to thinkingskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had similar feelings shortly post op and recall letting a few cheezits melt in my mouth a few weeks post-op. Luckily this feeling goes away when you get to eat real food for all your meals. JUST BE CAREFUL-- I am not worried about you consuming extra calories. I am worried about you getting a leak. -

FishingNurse replied to Michellefaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at 8 months and eat 1200-1600 cals a day and I have since 2.5 months. At 1.5 months I was lucky to get 750 due to my swelling. -

Losing Without Protein Drinks?
FishingNurse replied to Cherrybomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same boat as you. So I ate a lot of cottage cheese, babybel cheese, purred meats, tuna, and drank a lot of milk. Thats all I could do. By the time my aversion to them went away I could eat enough protein to make my goal! You;ll be ok!!! Just be diligent. -

Omg Extra Skin Already?
FishingNurse replied to nancy_marie_00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did, it goes in phases. I would notice I would stall after a large loss, then the skin improves, then I would lose more weight, notice some sagginess-- then the skin improves. In total I have almost zero loose skin at this point and I am almost to goal!! -
Thoughts? Opinions?
FishingNurse replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
