    Loose Skin Worries

I have no lose skin, and depending on your goal weight you might not either. (my goal weight was modest at 170) I did temporarily have a little bit on my abdomen and arms during rapid weight loss phases. But it bounced backed nicely. Your age is on your side!!!

    gained weight

no sweat!! it is not fat gain-- its nearly impossible ! I would panic early out too but it will all be ok!

    gained weight

we need more info! how far out are you? If you are in your first year its probably not fat gain, its probably a fluctuation in fluids or rearrangement of weight. No worries! they will come back off

    I miss straws!

after a month (one more week!) you should be just fine for a straw! :-) I am with you-- love my straws
  8. I think as long as you have a comfortable place to sit and its not several hours you will be ok. I was back working at a clinic 8 hour days a week post op!
  9. you sound just like I did pre-op! I had the same concerns. I am soooooo happy I did this, and I really think you will be too.

    What is sliming?

It's a very unpleasant expirence! It can happen post op of you don't chew we'll enough, or you sleeve doesn't like the texture, or you eat a little too much. You can feel like something is stuck in your throat, and your body tries to lubricate the stuck food out, and you form thick salavia to move the food through. Then you can throw up slimy saliva balls. It's horrid! I have slimed maybe 7 times total. Once you know your sleeve its easier to avoid. Seems to happen in the fist six months primarily. I slimed last weekend-- and it was the first time in at least a year! (Dry chicken!) I'm 19 months out

    building muscle

sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to do! good protien intake and lifting weights is right on for building muscle!
  14. Started training for a 5K a month ago and have lost 5 pounds in the process! I am running a 9 minute mile on the treamill!

  15. It is not against my surgeons guidelines. My surgeon says carbonation DOES NOT stretch out your sleeve. I have no reason not to at 19 months post-op. I didn't drink carbonated beverages until I was completely healed (about 3.5 months out) And I would have a few a week total. I made my goal and have maintained with-in 7 pounds up or down for more than a year. I can see how you would feel this way being a few weeks out. But wait and see how you feel about it in 6 months. I am also a RN and I am working on my masters in nursing and just transferred to our bariatric department.
  16. I totally understand where you are coming from. To answer your question liquids just go right through- even carbonated ones. I TRY not to drink when I am eating. I can't drink a lot if I am full. Does that answer your question? :-) I really hope you get approved... soon! Best thing I have ever done
  17. I drink 2-3 sparkling waters per day (like Perrier), about 3 beers per week, and about the total of 1-2 regular Dr. Peppers per week. (I don't use artificial sweeteners) I waited for 3-4 (until I was healed completely) months to do carbonation. I have no issues!
  18. you'll be able to have your favorites after you are sleeved in moderation. (after you are all healed and have progressed your diet.) I greatly regret the fact that I gained 11 pounds in the months before my surgery having meals "I would never have again" I truly believe I would be 11 pounds less at this point! Give yourself a head start. You will so happy you did! I eat anything I want including soda in small quantities!
  19. you look great, what a great article! what an inspiration for us to run more!

    Very happy!

    you look phenomenal!
  22. good news is you are still sitting at 124lbs correct? do you work out? It sounds like you need to lift some weights to gain lean muscle and get your metabolism going!
  23. at 12-14 months I really got a good feel for where I should be!
  24. As long as you are more than 4-6 weeks out for sure it's totally fine.
  25. Just want to check in with Sleevers that are more than a year out. How is it going? have you gained weight back? How is your restriction? How is your skin? I am feeling like all the Sleevers that were active on this site have disappeared .. and I am hoping just because there is a lot of repeat info for the newbies... which is totally fine! Personally I am 19 months out, and within 6-7 pounds of my lowest weight.... gained the 6-7 back from Halloween until new years. I am taking care of those pounds now. I can still feel restriction, some days more than others but I definitely can eat a lot more than a year ago! I admit I have not been working out and I am finally back at the gym starting today. Really excited to lose the 6 pounds and 4 more if I am lucky! I love this site it keeps me accountable. How is everyone else?
