  1. Hey everybody!

For all of you pros out there. I currently have health net *** through my husbands work. I started my six months supervised diet in may.

He just notified me that in september, we will be switching to Aetna *** . I am so super worried that they will say " hell no" to me when I begin the process with them. I'm affriad they will want me to be insured with them for a certain amount of time before I can have surgery.

My question is, has anyone ever had a switch in the middle and was able to pick up were they left off?

Does anyone know if I have to be insured with my new provider for a certain amount of time before I can be approved?

I have this weird feeling of disappointment. Thank you all for your replies and opinions.

  2. I have been working with a dietician since June 10 th for my six month supervised diet. She gave a crazy diet plan that intails me to count all calories, milligrams of salt, and how much calium I get. I'm super OK with counting calories and measuring my food. I have done that for years.

The part that it hard is logging every single detail and emailing it to her weekly. Let me tell why its so hard. I have two small kids and a mentally ill MIL that I have to take care of. My hubby's commutes so I barley see him during the week. I am having a really hard time with all of this.

My dietician has also tried to convince me not to go through with the surgery. Yesterday I sent her a length email explaining that I will no longer be able to email and log weekly. I also shared my thought with her on surgery. This is what she replied with.

"I need to write a progress note to fax over to your doctor to update them on your progress. It will need to reflect what we've talked about as far as no longer following the meal/diet plan that we started you on. It will be good to weigh in and show the doctor / insurance company that you are losing weight, but it won't be because of our meeting that you are succeeding in this. So! My concern for you is that the insurance company needs to see one last ditch effort to lose weight without surgery hence the referral to me. I believe they need to see this based on my consultation with you ~ but you may want to clarify somehow with your insurance company, as I would hate for you to do this for 6 months only for them to reject your request for surgery. Also, if you are successful with your weight loss by the end of 6 months, they may see this as being successful without surgery and therefore deny on that basis. This is all speculation on my part... just "food for thought"... please don't quote me! "

What did you guys get from this? Will this determine my supervised weight loss as a complete failure? Will this reflect on my approval process?

    She totally confused me.

Thank you all responses and opinions. :)

  3. Ahhhh! I'm on the same darn boat! Except, I have a dietician. I have to log all of my food and count cal, mill of salt intake and Calcium. Blah, what a horror.

I stresses me out daily. I haven't lost anything in 3 months. I'm super stressed. My dietician is super skinny. Never a pound over weight a day in her life. She also try's to talk me out of wls. Indent feel she understands.

I have two young kids ( 5 and 9 months) and i take care of my mother in law who has schizophrenia. Logging everything is SO hard.

So sorry guys. Just had to vent and thanks for posting this. Glad I'm not the only one.

  4. Wow! That's my relationship with food right now. I know that I have to face the music and " break" up with some of my best food friends. I'm very ok with that. In fact, I can't wait, but in the meantime that beast within has all of the control.

Luckily, I have never been a fast fooder or a junk food junkie. I LOVE to cook and feed others large quantities. High quality foods are my specialty. Making things from scratch is my fun.

Growing up we always had home cooked meals so I'm happy I don't love fast food.

I look forward to the day that I'm stuffed after a 1/4 cup of food. What a day that will be.

Thank you both so so much. I appreciate all of your words of wisdom.

I look forward to continue to learn from you.

  5. Thanks so much mb20mom! So glad to have all of you here.I want to congratulate both of you on you amazing weight loss. I can only try to imagine how it feels. There are so many things I look forward to.

With all of this positivity ahead of me I still can't seem to find the strength to loose any weight. Just need some real hardcore motivation before surgery.just want my pre-op diet already.

    Off topic:

I have a question for both of you, if you don't mind, what was you relationship with food pre-op verses now?

I am trying to do some soul searching to analyze my battle with food.

    Thanks again.

  6. Yes I have. My BMI is over 41 and I have had high blood pressure for 5 years now. I'm 5'6" and 266

I have already seen a dietician and we have already started my new meals plans.

I started in may so I'm hoping that (fingers crossed) I can have a date in december.

I was going to gp with the lap band first but read all the struggles. Thank God for these 6 months that o was able to fumble across the sleeve. So happy that I have.

Thanks again. Will keep you posted on progress.

  7. Hey. I have health net. It an *** as well. They cover the under certain qualifications.

    https://www.healthnet.com/static/general/unprotected/pdfs/national/policies/Bariatric_Surgery_Jan_11.pdf

See if that works. Its says something about anti-inflammatories. I do take some for my carpal tunnel.

I pray everyday that these six months are not a waste of time. I always feel my pcp won't follow through. Just some worries I have.

    Thanks for being here. :)

  8. Same boat here! I'm in limbo between the lap band and the sleeve. My biggest fear is the future with both.

With the lap band I'm afraid of slips, erosions etc. With the sleeve I'm afraid of a stretching pouch.

I would love to hear from someone that was sleeved for a few years now.

I'm on my second month of my 6 month supervised diet. Hoping that soon I can come to a decision.

    Good luck to you.
