I'm in Tijuana at the Florence Hospital and I just met Dr. Kelly! Here is the NEWSFLASH! THEY FED ME! Apparently there was no purpose for the 5 day liquid diet and they wanted me to eat before I have surgery tomorrow morning! I can't have anything at all after 10pm but I just had my first solid food in 5 days.

Today I travel to Mexico, surgery tomorrow! My 5 yr old told me last night that I had bad breath.. I think the ketosis has kicked in and I'm going to make it to surgery! Am a little concerned that I am low on protein. Could not get those clear protein shots from costco down. Ugh!

Down 11lbs with the pre-op diet. I want a protein shake though! Don't understand this 3 days of clears when some surgeons let their patients eat a full meal the night before! Why no protien?

Made it thru the day on 5 sf jellos and a vitamin water and lots of regular water! Actually surprised I feel as good as I do.

3 days left of liquid diet.. moved to clears today. Took my required laxative and now feeling a little nauseous. (I was going to say crappy but that would be bad..right?)

Day 2 of liquid diet.. well this is a challenge for those of us who are used to a full belly. Dieting was never my forte or I wouldn't be in this position. I just need to make it thru a training presentation with my bosses and serving a group of people lunch. NO problem.. right?

Today's the day! I'm doing a happy dance for you! Enjoy those meds..soon you won't be hungry anymore!

Liquids only starts today! Embrace the struggle right... people have endured way more than just 5 days of liquids..right?

Hi Cathi, I'm going to Tijuana for my surgery on 7/12.. not quite Mexicali but still Mexico! I have been so excited about the surgery, well .. more for the after effects then the actual survey but am now starting to get the nerves too. I think it's normal. I also did not understand the aspiring evangelist and junior guru and sleeve master for awhile.. there should be a how to guide. LOL!

7 real meals left until the liquid diet... have been eating wheat the last few days after pretty much eliminating it from my diet and feel so sluggish & gross. I know I'll be hungry on the liquid diet but I'm looking forward to feeling good again!

So.. I was trying to get in all my lunch dates with mom and friends before I can't eat again. Everyone is flaking on me this week. Of course they don't know... you asked me how long I'll be out of work and I just took a week vacation starting the day I leave for Mexico. I'll be back to work next week but I have mostly a desk job so I'm hoping I'll be ok.

Hi dreams.. I have a 5 day liquid diet that starts Thursday. Then I stay in the hospital for 2 nights and then the recovery hotel for another night or two. Did I tell you that I'm having my surgery in Mexico? Kind of funny when there is a perfectly good bariatric surgeon across the street from where I work. Insurance won't pay so I have to and that is why.

Great job on the pre-op diet!!! 13lbs... woot!

Aww.. Thanks sweetdreams! I'm sure I'm going to freak a little when it comes time to leave my family and go over the border. However I feel like this is something I just have to do. There is so much I want to do yet in life and being overweight is just holding me back. I guess it will be just me and God because seriously that is the only way I'll be getting thru the pre-op diet anyway.

Well best of luck! I just moved my date up 1 day so now I'm o the 12th. So looking forward to the other side of the actual procedure. Do you have a pre-op diet? How long do you stay in the hospital after? I have 7 day liquids and a 2 night hospital stay and then 1-2 nights in the recovery hotel. I'm self pay so I have to go to Mexico and it's different there!

Simple is good! So excited to have someone going thru this at the same time to chat with! Do you just have 1 night in the hospital after surgery?

My passport arrived and my surgery date got moved up a day to 7/12!

Hi Jennifer, I'm scheduled to see Dr. Kelly on 7/12 and am starting at about the same weight as you. Glad to read your posts that it was a good experience! How are you doing now?
