  1. I use regular mayo and low fat dairy products. I stay away from sugar like the plague. Carbs are my enemy and also because I am diabetic. Sugar is high in calories and has NO nutritional value. At least good fats like olive oils can actually help your cholesterol.

My go-to sweetener is splenda. I have been trying agave nectar as well because it is low glycemic, but I use it rarely.

  2. I found them at a local health food store. Maybe Whole Foods has them. I know they can be ordered online too. They smell fishy in the package, but follow the instructions and they are great, they also take on the flavor of any sauce you put them in. I would never have known they weren't the real thing. They are fine for the soft food stage. I've heard the angel hair are the best tasting, those are the ones I bought.

  3. I've eaten Puffins (Original) a few times. It tastes kind of like a low sugar Cap'n Crunch. I find it at the health food stores. I love it, but I'm gonna stop buying it. I find that eating sugar and barely any Protein in the morning just makes me crave things and really sets the head hunger into motion all morning long. I have a feeling this may be a common reaction and that is why you don't hear a lot of people talking about eating it...they don't!!...and for good reason.

I bought Kashi puffed rice instead which is lower in carbs/sugar and that does nothing for me...might as well eat styrofoam peanuts. So I think I'm giving up on cereal, I wasn't a big cereal eater before surgery anyway. I am going to go back to my part protein/part sweet standby Breakfast of cottage cheese and peaches...or cottage cheese and applesauce.

My go-to sweet breakfast on the weekends is Oasis brand low carb bread (6 carbs per slice) and a little Peanut Butter and fruit spread...this is my Saturday morning treat. Way fewer carbs and I get the Protein in with the Peanut Butter.< /p>

  4. I agree 100% with the above posts. Occasionally I have a fleeting feeling of "I wish I could eat more of this food," but mostly I am SO GRATEFUL to have this wonderful tool! I love having the restriction for those times I might overeat. I'm thankful that now I love/crave Protein and eat mostly good carbs. I'm thrilled that my sweet tooth and appetite no longer control my life. I'm thankful that I waited for the sleeve and didn't have the RNY or lap band.

I WOULD NEVER, EVER CHOOSE TO GO BACK TO THE WAY i WAS!!!

Ditto! Ditto!! and TRIPLE DITTO!! I couldn't have said it better myself! Oops, sorry I am not 6 mos out yet, but I am half way to my goal already.

  5. I was sleeved on June 6th and have lost 54 lbs so far. I eat anywhere from 800 to 1100 calories a day. But mostly stay in the 900s. I get in all my Protein and Water and eat about 65 carbs a day on average. (I can't do super low carb, it makes me feel like I'm on a diet...haha) My weight loss has slowed down, I too lose about a pound a week now, but that's ok with me as long as I lose. I want to avoid as much loose skin as possible...which brings me to my biggest fault...I'm not exercising as much as I should. Anybody got any advice for an old couch potato? Glad to hear from you all...

  6. I can relate to you in a very literal way. The other night I was lying in bed, layed my arms across my body and could feel my ribcage. The whole thing! I thought, omg, my ribs might be hurt cuz they're sticking out! How weird is that? I've been fat all my life and instead of thinking the ribs are there to protect your organs...I thought my fat was there to protect my ribs!! We are certainly facing a new reality, a different mindset, and I'm glad we're here to experience this together!
