    Food Porn ( Graphic)

I watch the cooking channel all the time....MY fav is Chopped and the Next Iron Chef (bummer who won was not my fav guy boo). I have enjoyed hot wings (though it only takes 1-2 to fill me up now) and tacos with jalapenos (but tortillas fill me up in an uncomfortable way so I mostly eat the Beans, guac yumyum and sour cream and chicken) I can eat popcorn too but much much less than before sleeve. You will still be able to enjoy food just will be eating alot less and more Protein and less of the bread etc. It's all good...........like Guy says, "winner, winner, chicken dinner!" LOLOL

    Almost A Year Out

You ROCK!!! Look YEARS younger and happier too!!! Congrats!!!
  3. I am not telling you to not follow what your doc says but I noticed I was ready to go to the next food a little ahead of what his schedule said. I have read others post that their docs did not make them do the phases as long as mine did. Just don't eat red meat or steak or celery or anything too rough or it will come back up and you will wish you hadn't. Good luck!!! It does get better and the monster will behave!
  4. Not sure about the facial hair. I don't have any. I did not notice other areas (lady parts) loosing hair but my head sure did by the handful! When I started taking Biotin and eating more Protein the hair on my legs did double time growing. I have stopped taking Biotin (hair not falling out in clumps anymore.) but will start back if it does. Good luck!
  5. I drove myself to the doctor for my one week visit. After the first day I was fine to be all by myself. I sent my husband on errands as he hovers and makes me nervous. You will be fine after the first couple of days. If you take any pain killers you can't drive but other than that (and I really did not take any after the second day) you really won't need anyone else so unless you have to lift small children or something you will be fine. On a happy note....had sleeve surgery in late May....7 months later I am almost at goal weight.....I am soooo glad I did it....whole new outlook on the new year .....good luck!
  6. I had a SUPREMELY SUPER GREAT DAY WITH FAMILY!!! Enjoyed the company and had a couple of glasses of wine and yep I cheated.....I have been stuck at same weight stall again for about two weeks.....but before I could finish a whole plate of food.....and yesterday I found myself enjoying the meats (ham, turkey, roast) and mostly skipping the dressing and potato salad. I did have some choc pecan pie....but before surgery I would have had a way bigger plate and prob eaten several Desserts so the sleeve is doing it's job even when I cheat. I was way full and actually sat there and shared the pie with my hubby. Weird thing is scale is still in same place..............inching my way along........have 8 more lbs to go before goal.....but already am thinking of going maybe five pounds lower than what doctor thought I would hit....would love to have a normal BMI for once. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
  7. WHOOO HOOOO.....EVEN BETTER THAN ANYTHING SANTA COULD HAVE BROUGHT YOU!!!! CONGRATS!!!
  8. I am thinking gallstones too......that is RIGHT where mine hurt. You better stay away from SALADS or meats or anything with fat until you figure it out. If it is gallstones it will hurt worse right after you eat ......when the gallbladder tries to dump the bile.....Also....I noticed with mine if I pushed with my hand where it hurt it went away a little.....I think I was moving the stone away when I pushed? Hurts WAY worse than having a baby!!!! HUGS!!! Hope you figure it out!!!

    Snacks?

There is no way I can only eat 3 meals and get all the Protein in. My doc said - protein is the most important...work on all other stuff around that. He never told me no Snacks. Just make them protein. Right now my go to snacks are string cheese, Peanut Butter Protein Bars, nuts and sugar free fudgesickles.

    Wtf? Rebound? How?

I noticed when it is my "friends" time to visit each month that I go up and down. Stick in there! Prob just water....try not to look at scale a couple of days and just stick to what you should be eating. I did that for two weeks and was pleasantly surprised!!! HUGS!!
  11. I had a hernia at the top of my stomach that they fixed while they were in there. And I had HORRIBLE gas pain....left heart area up to left shoulder. It lasted until my three week visit. Jacuzzi tub helped alot. Motrin helped alot (check with your doctor first!) Gas X did help too. Even got my hubby to chop massage my back and that seemed to help. Try these things and see if it helps. Sorry.....sorry....I bet it will get better soon! First couple of weeks are the worst.

The One Time I Follow The Rules

Thanks for this....thought it was weird that some days I am bouncing off the walls. Wonder if it is the days I take the B12? I take it twice a week as doctor told me too.....hummmmm.....might have to keep a journal and see....thanks!
  13. My lab work (and I have had it done once pre op and then three times after so far) runs around $1,500. each time....you are RIGHT!!! Very expensive!!!!
  14. Eggs (esp scrambled) go down hard. I can eat two poached eggs (sunny side up) no prob. Still have trouble with scrambled eggs (6 months out). A food scale comes in handy right at first. I don't use it anymore but did use it alot at first. Then you will get used to what portion size looks like. ..............only 8 more lbs until I hit goal.....seems like a DREAM!!!

The other day I was doing laundry.....uggg......and my pants fit on a hanger sideways!!!! LOLOL.....SOMETIMES IT IS THE LITTLE THINGS!!!! lololol... I am Catholic too....and just like you it is WAY easier kneeling when you don't have that much weight on your knees!!! CONGRATS GIRLIE....ON THE RIGHT TRACK!!!
  16. I was taking Bariatric Advantage too....switched to little pills you have to swallow....don't like those as well. Fixing to switch back to BA.

    Constipation- Nothings Moving :( Solutions?

I stopped coffee and had the same problem. I decided one cup in the am was not going to kill me and it worked! Now I drink one cup in the morning and go fine. I also noticed cafe mocha (guess the chocolate makes me go too?) REALLY works...lolol.....
  19. Yes....I avoid the sugar alcohols too......they give me WAY bad gas! Alot of the protein bars have those in them too.

    Protein

unjury has a chicken broth (they say chicken Soup but there are no noodles). Some people find it salty but I crave salt. If you like Lipton cup of soup it tastes alot like that. Unjury has a sample pack that you can order that has packets of all the Proteins. Unjury is only sold online and the people are very nice and helpful. This soup got me through the first 3 months. I still keep it around and if I have a really busy day and am low on Protein drink some at night. Now I get most of my protein from meat/cheese. I am 6 months out on Dec 23. Best decision I have ever made....almost 75 lbs lighter..........wore a 12-14 black dress and killer shoes to Christmas party the other night and danced all night! LOLOL.....wish I would have done it years ago!!! Good luck!
  21. I was just wondering if the caffine in the coffee drink might have contributed to the "dump"? I know I was having issues right after surgery and a cup of coffee every morning works like a charm and I do not have to take anything for the constipation issue. Maybe it was the sugar + caffiene? I have not had any issues with sweets & occasionally I splurge. We were in New Orleans for Christmas party and we shared a cannoli and I ENJOYED EVERY STINKING MINUTE OF IT...LOLOL....but the difference is now I could only eat 1/2 and before surgery I could eat 3.......... Maybe try coffee at home and see what happens?
  22. Hi...your post rang a bell here. I am 45 and was 230 lbs 5'1" and had been on a diet for YEARS. I work full time and am a mom to two (including a very busy 4 year old). I wish I would have done the surgery YEARS earlier. I feel great and have lost 75 (maybe more now scale broke and pants loose again) hahahah....... I ended up self pay. Some of lab work and xray and preop testing was covered by my insurance even though they don't cover bariatric surgery. I know it is expensive (and I never spend money on me always the kids or hubby) but felt like I needed to do it to save myself and my sanity! Never look back! One of the best things I have done in a long long time. I bought a dress for hubby's Christmas work party......size 12-14.........and if you could have seen my hubby's face last night.......and he LIKED me heavy.......the surgery was worth every penny! I used to wear a 2X...... Good luck!!!

    No Support From Husband...

For years I was hungry. I could eat a big hamburger and fries and a couple of hours later I would have the munchies again. I told my weightloss doctor to check out all my levels, I was sure something was "off". Whatever it was that tells someone they are full was broken in me. Since the surgery I am like a new person. I eat the amount of a deck of cards and am HAPPY and FULL. THAT NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. The reason I never lost weight on the many many years of diets was I was ALWAYS hungry. I have lost 75 lbs so far. I am thrilled. I wish I had done this surgery when I was in my 30's and not waited.......my hubby who was not thrilled about the surgery (more because he was worried something bad would happen....he hates hospitals) is thrilled that I am feeling better, more healthy and happy now. I know your hubby is not supportive of the surgery...........but trust me on this.........one of the best things I have done for MYSELF! Good luck on your journey!
